Go first or wait?

Post by Petrocelli »

As a general rule, in a freestyle game, is it better to make your moves first, last, or somewhere in the middle?

Thanks.

I'd say it depends greatly on what the situation of the game is like.

For example if you have just gained a continent in the last round, and it is under threat from other players, it makes sense to begin your turn as soon as possible.

However if you are in quite a weak position, you may wish to wait for other players to weaken each other before making your move. Of course you may still need to go first to survive...

I don't think there's a general rule, just take each turn as it comes :D

Often i find it is best to go second to last and then first. This way you can gain a continent, only 1 player will play in between and then you can gain the benefit with only 1 player being able to break you.

But generally going first or last is best.

in freestyle casual it depends on the situation

in freestyle speed you should always begin your turn straight away but wait untill the last couple of seconds to make your move (exception: 8 player, esc, stealing a kill)

Jeff, freestyle speed it is all dependant on card and fort style

no its not

unless you are trying to get a kill in esc, its always better to wait untill the end of the round

In an unlimited fort game it can often be advantageous to make your move quickly and fort to places which require defence most. In adjacent and chained the same does not apply. On small maps (e.g. Doodle) you should wait a long time yet on World 2.1 you should often begin making moves early on as you have a large number of territories.

instead of arguing my point i challenge you to a 2.1 freestyle speed unlimited game

should prove whos strategy is better
