CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
Hi guys. I love taking part in tournaments and so to give something back I have decided to start my own.
THE TOURNAMENT IS OPEN TO PREMIUM MEMBERS ONLY AS THERE WILL BE UP TO 8 GAMES BEING PLAYED AT ONCE.
For those of you who are familiar with European football/soccer, you will know that the ultimate achievement for any club is to win the Champions League. It is a bit of a complicated tournament, but great fun and so I have decided to use it as a blue-print for my tournament. So here's the deal...

To win the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE you must be a CHAMPION (or nearly one. Ha!) of your HOME LEAGUE, so to begin with you must join one of the eight leagues below - Please Note: THESE ARE ALSO THE MAPS YOU WILL PLAY ON.
Big Leagues
A. South America (9 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
B. British Isles (9 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
C. Africa (9 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
D. Italy (9 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
E. Australia (9 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
F. USA (9 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
Small Leagues
G. Portugal (5 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
H. France (5 players + 1 Reserve) - FULL
RESERVES GET AUTOMATIC ENTRY INTO 1ST ROUND KNOCKOUT!
All games will be 2 player Standard & Sequential. All players will play against every other player both home and away (home settings will be Spoils/Reinforcement Type/Foggy or Sunny).
The two 5 player leagues will have players playing twice at home and twice away.
This will mean a total of 16 games each.
Once all the games have been played...
The 8 League winners will progress to the next round.
The 6 Big League runners up will progress to the next round.
The 6 Big League 3rd placed teams and the 2 Small League 2nd placed teams PLUS the 8 Reserves will all go into a quick knock-out tournament to decide who claims the final 2 places in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE proper.
N.B. In the case of a tie there will be a count-back system. The number of turns that it has taken to win their games will be counted, the lowest being better. If there is still a tie then the games between those who are tying will be counted separately, with the lowest again being better. If all is STILL tying then a one-off play-off game will be played with random settings.
N.B. If the Reserve is needed to step into a gap left by a no-show or no reserve is found for the group then the 4th placed player (3rd place from Small Leagues) will join the Knock-Out tournament instead.
1st Round Knockout
16 players. All games will be one off games on EUROPE Map, Standard, Sequential, Escalating Spoils, Chained Reinforcement & Sunny
1. The 3rd place (or 2nd from Small Leagues) will play against the Reserve from their group. (8 players)
2. League A will play League B, C v D, E v F, G v H. (4 players)
3. (A or B) vs (C or D) & (E or F) vs (G or H)
This will leave 2 players who both progress to...
Round 2 - The CHAMPIONS LEAGUE proper
The moment that the final player has qualified I will check the rankings and seed players accordingly.
Seeds 1-4 will be randomly split into each of the 4 Champions League groups.
Seeds 5-8 will be randomly split into each of the 4 groups.
Seeds 9-12 will be randomly split into each of the 4 groups.
Seeds 13-16 will be randomly split into each of the 4 groups.
This will leave us with 4 groups of 4 players.
All games will be played on EUROPE, Standard 2 player, Sequential + home players settings
(home settings will stay the same as before unless you PM me BEFORE the games are set up).
You play each player home and away (6 games).
The top 2 in each group will progress into the QUARTER FINALS.
N.B. If there is a tie then the count-back system will apply again (see Round 1 for details).
QUARTER FINALS
All games will be played on DISC WORLD map, Standard 2 player, Sequential, Escalating, Chained & Foggy and will be best of 3.
The 4 winners will progress into the SEMI FINALS.
SEMI FINALS
All games will be played on TAMRIEL map, Standard 2 player, Sequential, Escalating, Chained & Foggy and will be the best of 5.
The 2 winners will progress into the FINAL.
FINAL
All games will be played on SAN FRANCISCO map, Standard 2 player, Sequential, Escalating, Chained & Foggy and will be the best of 7.[/spoiler]
So there you have it. There are many roads to the final but they all lead to Rome (or rather San Francisco). I have chosen maps that are all quite straight forward and easy to learn. I wanted the knockout stages to have Escalating cards as this cuts down on luck, and Chained & Foggy because this again means that a players skill will play a greater part in deciding who progresses.
