London Underground

Post by max is gr8 »

I got this off a website maybe i could edit it a bit and make i a risk map

THANK YOU FOR THIS IDEA

Image

The way it would work is you have to fight for rail tracks instead of continents
And the ones PEAK TIME S ONLY will be missed out

I WILL ALSO MISS OUT THE STATIONS THAT DON'T HAVE A CIRCLE

Get right on it - The colours are sorted out already, as are the joining points.

The only problem with it is the copyright

I don't know what the problem with the copyright would be. What is there to be copyrighted? The map? I don't think you can copyright that. The name? I doubt it.

There is a copy right and it is on the image. Look at the bottom left corner, the little c with a circle around it is a copy right. It is copy righted by London Regional Transport.

Other then that looks cool.

Somehow, I doubt London Regional Transport has people hunting for copyright infringements...besides, CC already uses the real risk map's arrangment, and if Hasbro hasn't sued us yet, that means A) it isn't an infringement, or B) it doesn't matter (I'm guessing A), so if you change it a little, it should be fine.

AS long as lack doesn't charge us to use it we're safe as he isn't making money out of it

What do you think about combining the underground map and the postalcode map into a map where you could attack via adjacent tube stations (even without adjacent borders) and vice versa.

I'm not glad if this idea was scrapped. I think it's an awesome variant - I like the idea of risk maps reflecting something that could actually happen, like a gang war, or something completely impossible, like the thatched hut map, but in the middle is a little iffy to me - anyway, I wish this idea were jumped on.

I don't think you should just include "circled" stations. All this means is the station is connected to more than one line. It would be a shame to miss out historically important parts of London like Camden Town but then include Kentish Town... and no Covent Garden!

I think this map will be very very tough to make in a playable manner, but its a great idea.

The advantage of making this map, is that if anyone was to go to London for a holiday, they could play this before they go, and not walk around clutching the ubiquitous mini map of the underground looking like a tourist.

This is a working map of something real, something useful, plus you have in the poll 1/3 wanting it to be made & 1/3 wanting it to be made with some editing

Hey! - this has given me an idea

If the full underground map looks too difficult to play, there is a central London map that tourists seem to use... I'll have a look for it and see if i can post a link

central london

Post by fluffybunnykins »

Hey, I like the idea of Risk going underground (couldn't resist, I like the Jam too :D )
I've had a go at making a central london version. Now there are little white circles for each line at the interchange stops (with a border the colour of the line it is for). I've cut out some stops (who wants to go to queensway, anyway?) and made some of the ones that run parrallel only involve one of the lines (so that there are less territories and so there are a handful that aren't borders!) I've also cut the drain (Waterloo & city), docklands LR and the north london line.
There's still like 96 territories  in about 10 continents... but it's starting to look a little bit more manageable.
I'll post it up here tomorrow. All this blathering might make more sense then!

here it is.
needs a bit of tarting up, and when I exported it to bitmap the colours went a bit washed out...
probably wants the underground logo somewhere & some credits/copyright stuff. Ignore borough, I zapped it but forgot to wipe the name
comments?

It's a neat idea that seems to be shaping up into something interesting. I'm not sure that I fully understand how the stops like Baker Street and Euston work, though. Are they each A) one country that's part of multiple continents, B) one country that borders another continent (and if so, which continent is it in, and does it block the countries in the other continent(s) from being adjacent?), or C) several adjacent countries with the same name in different continents? Also, are the little icons beside some of the station names (e.g. Waterloo) relevant, or are they just artifacts from the original map? If the latter, it might be better to remove them to reduce the potential confusion/clutter.

This map looks really good.

My first note would be that the circle line bonus needs to be upped to about 12-15, its going to be virtualy impossible to hold

old street needs a circle / station icon

Cant we simply forget about this "map"? It would be really much more confusing than Crossword map. May I suggest a simple national map?

We already have these maps by the bucket load. This map is real, and will help someone to learn their way around central London by tube.
