How many truly exceptional players are in the top 20?

Personally i count around 5 or 6, i am certainly not going to divulge which.. where would the fun be in that!

Anyway, I have not played all of those in the top 20 so i am not the one to accurately judge!

I counted 14. I haven't played with/don't remember playing with 2 of them so I didn't count them, and most of the rest I've only seen play/seen the results of them playing, so my count isn't exactly very valid, but it's what I counted.

15 from my perspective.

personally, they made it to the top 20, they are pretty damn exceptional... you try it with any tactic and i bet you can't get there

Actually, I bothered to read the whole top 20 today and I'm pretty sure I have not had a single game against any of them.

Sure this is very subjective, but there is a lot of chat about who manipulates and so on (implying that they should not be there). I have always said that the guys who make it to the top are evidently very skilled, i have no axe to grind.

I did think a little thread with people who have played these guys saying how good they are in reality would be very interesting.

This is probably only the third time I've looked at the top 20 players. Whilst I recognize some of the names, I really don't know much about who's the pick of the bunch.
I did play an awesome dubs with RashidJelzin which I remember very well, however - he was a lowly capitain back then I think....my how he's grown.
I've also seen Seulessliathon in action several times - superb player and more importantly a nice guy.
Anyway, due to my utter ignorance on the matter, I count 2.

As a side note, I've also played one game with freeroll - he was the first (and last) person to accuse me of having a secret alliance.
He won the the game though.

didn't accuse of a secret alliance, i was pissed because it really isn't cool to team up on 1 player in a 3 player game...

i've played most of them, and respect most of them... respect isn't the full opinion though, some of them dont deserve it... i counted about 10 that are exceptional

1 - lotta teams
2 - lotta cryin
3 - freestyle?
4 - farmer
5 - lotta freestyle teams (apparently sometimes by himself)
6 - lotta farming (and a very long win streak)
7 - are half his games really sequential? I guess that was the half before he bought a backhoe
8 - working the fields... and not the war fields
9 - played one game with him, and I told him he was the worst player ever. I've since told someone else that, so I guess he doesn't hold that honor anymore. At least he makes his own 2 player freestyle games (speed games though, so not a big difference).
10 - 625 games.... so I'm guessing escalating freestyle. I wonder what CS:S players would think if they came to find the top ten spots here were dominated by people who click fast. They'd probably just knock them all out. God bless inflation.
11 - GO TO 10
12 - played a game on his team recently that was incredibly boring (just shooting fish in a Belgium), so if all his games are like that then I feel for him. All in all, nothing against him. Somebody's gotta clean out the farmers who imagine they can play a team game.
13 - 4 games at a time? More patience than me.
14 - I've played more with him than anyone else in the top 20, and I've seen him make some crucial mistakes and ignore team chat. Still better than the others.
15 - 20 Don't know anything about any of these players. I looked at 17's games, they were amusing (talk about shooting fish: he's using a cannon on minnows!). Other than that, no comment.

93 - Evidence that the freestyle bias wipes out drastic differences in strategic thought. Playing anytime you want (and hence, being on CC on demand), as well as being able to deploy and attack quickly, will apparently outweigh the poor tactics employed by these players. I imagine if we could write a program to make our moves for us, and it did everything in a fraction of a second, he'd be number one. But that wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

I guess I counted 3 and a half, with 6 undetermined. Funny thing: There's only one 5.0 rating in the top 20, and three 4.9s. I think the average across everyone on CC is like 4.8, so these guys are not very good at having a good game.

i count 12 players there that i have direct experience from in games knowing they are great players, and i count 3 that i know to be complete ignorant fools that im surprised to see in the top 20.

4 King_Herpes -farms....but is still a decent player and nice guy
