know of a conflict in central/S. America or asia?

Post by dogstar4god »

Its for a summer project (when your school is in desprate attempts to become a better school.. which includes being an IB school, you get a crapload of summer projects. so you have school year round )

I need a conflict that is going on today... or at least was going on in mid june that has a country in central or south america in it.
and another one with any asian or oceania country in it.

i just need the conflicts....

just by chance if any of you know...

cause i've got around 5 days to finish this stupid thing.
and not even 5 days cause I'm gonna see if we can help bribe our new strings teacher from the start in staying with the program more than 2 years.

and i'd rather not do a civil war thats been going on for 50 years either. i've gotta give a 200-300 word description. x-x.
and i need a primary source (we weren't even taught what those were...)

Help?

Thank you if anyone actually responds to this post.....

(I chose this website to ask for help because despite the fact that i'm not really active (school.... x-x) I know that people here are from around the world. and also, might have more world awareness than most other people...

however, i will start playing CC again in a few weeks... play whatever map we're studying in american history.

.. You don't know what a primary source is? Oh my.

In Colombia, I think, there is a conflict between the president and rebels at the moment, and has been going on for a long time.

In Asia, border conflicts between India and Pakistan have been going on for a long time too.

That could possibly help you. :D

I thought Georgia and that side of Russia was part of Europe.

Plus, it's too obvious, and it's an easy way to get out of the project.

DO HARD ONES.

OK well a primary source is not going to someone's commentary or discussion about something, but going straight to the source material - So if you were doing something on say the Domesday Book, you wouldn't be quoting other historians, you'd be looking at the book itself.

In the case of a current conflict, you'd be going to stuff from people that are there (including war correspondents) rather than looking at say a summary from the Economist.

I can't think of any "new" conflicts in Asia, though I think things have hotted up lately in Sri lanka. I don't know if the unrest in Tibet is nasty enough to count.

If it's West of the Urals and North of the Caucasus and on the good side of Istanbul then it's Europe.

Depends on your definition, right? According to the Romans, it (probably) was counted as part or Asia Minor, along with the Caucasus.

However, ethnically, just about every nation west of the Urals is European (Russia, even though most of it lies in Siberia and the Far East, is still a European country, by way of the dominant ethnic group).

But let us have a separate thread for the spilting of such hairs.
