The enhancing of the existing Classic Map

Post by Pedronicus »

It's without doubt the most well liked map out there, and since the creation of this site its never been bettered.
Jota has become a very good map maker & I think he should be given the task of re working (not changing - just improving the graphics / text) of the map that is played the most.

Can we please have a show of hands here....

I think it looks fine, Jota can do it if he wants but I'm sure he has better things to do than pretty up an already popular map.

I think how it is is just fine. It's probably the best map there is, graphically speaking.

I really like how it is. It would probably be interesting to do a map imitating Future Risk though, with the water colonies and all...no space ones and other things, because that would get too complicated. It'd be nice though, because it'd have different names for things and what not.

I think it is a little to dark. Maybe it can be lightened a little.

Theres nothing wrong with the map as it is.

But I'm sure that Henry Ford thought that there was nothing wrong with starting the engine in a model T with a manual Crank Handle....

The current map doesn't show a link between GB & Scandinavia

If Jotas got lots of things that he's currently working on, why not start a CC cartographers competition to see who can come up with the best looking Mk2 Classic map?

i wasted time with bad speler's link three times. Hooray. I personally don't care, Jota can do what he wants, but we shouldn't ask him to.

i like the current high tech feeling to the classic, but if it were to be changed, oceania would have to be a different colour (its to close to Asia)

Classic Map main issues

Classic Map main issues

In my opinion, there are three main issues that we already talked about in this forum and that need to be soon improved:

I. Kamchatka - Irkusk - Mongolia borders

II. Great Britain - Scandinavia graphic connection

III. Continental bonuses and Middle East - East Africa connection

I think the discussion about the Middle East - East Africa connection has ended. Here is what i discovered:
cramill wrote:Here's something from the rules from the International RISK torunament:

In the official version of RISK, East Africa and Middle East connect. It has been brought to our attention that newer versions of the game have omitted this connection!
Note: The International RISK Tournament Of Champions uses official boards!

Verdict: the connection should stay.

This is from a thread that discussed the topic, and as of now the last post there was the 8th of November - a month ago. link to thread

But, i also think that I and II on Lupo's list need to be fixed.

Grand Strategy site is using the following map taken from Risk II video-game. They also have many maps developed on CC. So, I asked about copyright issues to their site administrator. He told me he asked to the map makers copyright permissions, but about the classic map he told me that he didn't know it was taken from Risk 2...

1.so I would like asking to lackattack, if we could also use this map, since also the other site use it, maybe they had got the Hasbro approval, or maybe, most probably, they didn't care about asking copyright permissons....

2. why cannot we have also on CC both classic map both classic variant map (with new territories, bonuses and connections)? We could use for classic variant map the CC classic map layout and we could easily improve it without asking any copyright!

This map is very different than the classic. You need to have a different strategy when defending almost any continent

Yes, just like sparrow poop is different from stark poop.
