Revamp suggestions

Post by militant »

I didnt want to make useless threads in the foundry, but now this subforum has been created i think it is the perfect place. There are some maps with are smashing but were made last year and are not looking as good as they used to, so i propose they get revamped.

1. Africa
2. Europe
Guys I am intentionally lurking. Discuss; Play mafia, it is good.

I like both as they are. We need the original author's consent regardless and without a lot of numbers I don't have a lot of incentive to track them down. Revamps just upset people most of the time.

Shoot me down in flames here...

But what about a revamp of classic?

I love the look of it now - but a few tweaks here and there could make it supreme...

Well if anyone has the incentive to give it a shot with no official backing and then pitch their case to lackattack they are free to try. I'm not touching that with a 10 foot pole. It's your time to spend.

Well then - if that's the case - then ignore the revamp - and make a new Europe... (one without Africa and the Middle East in might be more appropriate!?)

this map is out of date too, europe is still evolving and reforming especially in the baltics
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

Well, I'm just tossing ideas out there, but maybe a revamp of Germany? I like the textures and all, but maybe an update on colors/background would be nice.

not a bad idea. I don't think anyone really has sentimental feelings for these graphics.

You're going to need to pull my leg pretty hard to get me to push for any revamps. They haven't been all that successful in getting more play on the maps they change and a lot of people complain when they happen.

Change is a part of life, whenever it happens you get two types of people, those motivted and driven by change, and those who detest change and are are "lazy" to cooperate.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

Okay, but the change isn't doing anything at all to the maps as far as how much play they receive, so I don't see the point of pushing revamps on people if they don't effectively accomplish anything.

I'd play Brazil more if it didn't offend my eyes...

And I'll play British Isles more when it stops offending my geography.

I think this does not need much work at all>

The legend and the cartographer's name is kind of pixelated, also the borders and terrirorys need to be cleaned up a bit. Other than that it would be looking good to improve it further, i think it would look nice on a background similar to age of merchants, the creased, tea stained paper. :D
Guys I am intentionally lurking. Discuss; Play mafia, it is good.

We could do touch ups. I'll need to talk to Andy about that. I don't see any reason correcting pixelation would call for a full revamp.

I wouldn't want to do that. I'd be happy if all the pixelation was taken care of, but I don't see the need to do more than that.

Some of that pixelation might just be the result of lack making all the maps jpegs and compressing them. One map I've noticed that's been affected more than others is S. America. If you look at the map in play and compare it to the last update on the forums, there's a noticeable difference. But maybe it's just me.

How would you fix the pixelation without the original psd (or equivalent) file? Might be kind of hard.
