It is officially that time again! Now that The Allspark League is underway, and many of my other tournaments have reached their final stages, it is time for my next large (and lengthy) tournament.
This tournament will feature multiple games per round, a scoring system to decide who moves on, and should create some good rivalries. It is formatted similar to my very popular Battle for Middle Earth Tournament, so if you liked that one, this is the one for you!Here are the details that you will need to know:
First Round (6 games in total):
Each player will sign up to play in one of 12 different divisions. There will be 3 different maps to choose from (4 divisions for each). The maps for the first round are: USA, Canada, and the soon to be loaded South America. Each first round division will have 5 players who will play 6 games (all 6 will start at once). Each game will be scored as follows:
1st place: 5 pts.
2nd place: 4 pts.
3rd place: 3 pts.
4th place: 1 pt.
5th place: 0 pts.
You score for all 6 games will be totaled and the top 2 players from each division will advance to the second round.
Second Round (6 total games):
The top 2 players from each first round division will move on to play in 6 more games, only this time there will be 6 divisions of 4 player games. Each division will play 3 games on the North America map, and 3 games on the South America map). All other settings will be sequential, flat rate, and unlimited. Scoring for the Second Round is as follows:
1st place: 3 pts
2nd place: 2 pts
3rd place: 1 pt
4th place: 0 pts
Only the highest scoring player from the Second Round groups will advance to the Final Round.
Final Round (6 total games):
The final round will feature the 6 division winners from the Second Round in yet another 6 game series. They will once again play 3 games on the North America map, and 3 games on the South America map. Scoring for the final round will be as follows:
1st place: 5 pts
2nd place: 4 pts
3rd place: 3 pts
4th place: 1 pt
5th place: 1 pt
6th place: 0 pts
The player with the highest score at the end of the 6 games will be deemed the CHAMPION of the War in the Americas Tournament!
Tie Breakers:
1. Total number of wins for the current round.
2. Total number of second place finishes for the current round.
3. Total number of third place finishes for the current round.
4. Total number of wins from the previous round.
5. Total number of second place finishes from the previous round.
6. If all else fails, a best of 3 series with 1 vs 1 games on the South America map.
