Premium Points Loss
So I recently got premium from a friend and I'm really enjoying it, but my score has plummeted since having it. Before premium I was consistantly at about 1500 points and struggling to get beyond that, but with premium my score has been almost constantly falling. Any advice on how to stop the bleeding? game types, selective on who I play with, etc, i'm open to suggestions and would like to hear if anyone else has had the same problem

Heh, yeah. That was my mistake when I first got premium. Got like 50 games going in a week. I ended up a cook from that run, previously I had been 1st class private. I reduced the number to 25, and started getting some great advise, and am now a Sergeant and things are only looking up.
well in the past 2 weeks i havent really started any new games, only the odd one or two, and dropped from an average of 30 games to now only 4 current. It is now the first time ive ever cracked leiutenant! Before i was hovering around sargeant for ages.
Less games = more points???

Less games = more time to think about a move = (hopefully) better chance of winning. And winning = +points. Therefor, pretty much yes, to a point. At some point you'll have less time needed for turns than you do time to spend on CC. Then you can add a few games and it won't matter.

alot of people play50 or more games at a time. if you are waiting to take every one of your turns at one time you will be rushed and make plenty mistakes during an escalating game. maybe put some no cards games in there with them and see how you do. change up your game. I use to play 3 player games all the time. But then I realized that even if I won 4 games out of 10 (depending on the rank of the players) I was barely gaining any points. If your gonna play singles games play with 5 or 6 players in a game. still lose the same +/- when you lose. When you win you gain an extra 30+.
But the biggest problem I have found when I am losing(like now down 800 points this month) is that I try to force things to happen in a game. Patience will sometimes win you a game where luck, skill, and strategy fail you

after i became premium i almost doubled my score. from 1200 to 2397.
now i'm down to 2334.
so less games doesn't mean more points. just the same as more games doesn't mean less points.
all that matters is your skill and the way you handle each turn. if you start 50 games just for the sheer volume and take your turns without thinking properly you'll lose. but you could as well start 100 games and take your time and think every move and your score will rise.
i guess the important thing is to find the balance between your available time and the number of games you play.
i have found that balance at ~20 games and as i said my score kept rising. probably if i play more i'll lose more because i'll take turns in a hurry.

Perhaps your allegiance to Georgia Tech has created a subconscious push toward losses against inferior players, and those bad losses have dragged down your rating.
Seriously though, if you know anyone else that plays, try getting a doubles partner if you play those games. The interaction is fun, and when you get to know each others' tendencies well, you can really let loose on some teams.

Me personally, if I got prem, I would join 2 games for every map, then the odd game here or there because I like classic games. I don't care about points at all, I mean, it would be cool to rise above cadet, but I'm here to have fun, having alot of points doesn't affect that at all. And thats just me.
But, as was already stated, less games=more points in most cases.

LOL.
sfh is down below 1000 now. thats over 500 points lost...
My suggestion:
Play LOTS OF TERMINATOR GAMES.
6p standard singles games take too much thought to play many at a time. cause each one needs its own plan to continue through the game.
With Terminators, you dont need a plan. not having a plan actually helps you, cause you dont get yourself stuck in a strategy that wont work...
My score has gone UP 500 points, to around 1450 ish since i got premium. do something that takes less strategy....

haha. And you found the one worth $22. HAHA! I feel your pain. I just begged someone to get it for me. My parents wouldn't let me use their credit card. The person told me nt to mention his username.

Yeah, I can guess why they wouldn't want to know. Well, I'll just tell my parents I want to give a freind a $25 visa card for christmas, buy them something else, and keep the card for this. It might just work.
