Make the graphics for the armies much bigger, they tend to just blend in and merge and requires quite a bit of scanning before each turn to figure out where your positions are and so forth.
It would for instance be really cool if the entire card could turn your color so it'd really stand out but i realize that's probably a very difficult fix - an easier one would just be to make the army info icon much larger

The army size is the same on all maps but you can turn on colour codes that will put the letter in front of the army size.
