I agree with Trump:

The first Harris ad has hit the airwaves. It's about freedom:

Ohh, you're one of the Harris supporters?
Its exciting to actually encounter one.
This was the delegate count in 2020 for the Dem primaries

These guys also made it to the primaries, but fell along the wayside.
Tom Steyer
Deval Patrick
Michael Bennet
Andrew Yang
These other Dem Candidates with their popular votes shown, withdrew before the primaries began.
Julian Castro ---------- 37,037
Cory Booker ----------- 31,575
Marianne Williamson - 22,334
John Delaney ----------19,342
Joe Sestak ---------------5,251
Kamala Harris -------------844
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Demo ... _primaries
I am curious what makes you support her above a vast field of other Dems that have been more popular.
You and your other 843 guys seem pretty rare and exotic.
I googled up endangered animals and you guys come right ahead of Lowland Gorillas which number just under 1,000.

How come you did not mention Bernie Sanders?
Back in 2020, but before Big Tuesday, Bernie Sanders was way ahead of the Democratic contenders. Almost all the candidates dropped out and endorsed Biden. The DNC feared that Bernie Sanders win would change the existing platform and leadership in the DNC.
I supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020, but in November of 2016 and 2020, I supported Clinton and Obama.
Re: U.S. ELECTION 2024 - HARRIS VS TRUMP
Did the pic not come through for you? Bernie is right there next to Biden.

You listed a number of candidates and obviously you did not look at the picture.
Too bad Sanders did not mentioned his political support for Martin Luther King Jr. He was the only candidate in 2016 and 2020 who actually walked with MLK for civil rights. Bernie Sanders was also arrested for his stand on civil rights.

Re: U.S. ELECTION 2024 - HARRIS VS TRUMP
Harris will be a much more challenging candidate for Trump to confront than Biden.
She is an ideal candidate in that she doesn't actually believe anything and can, therefore, be everything to everyone. As a prosecutor, she was absolutely draconian and merciless. But, as a Democratic primary candidate, she talked-up the need for prosecutorial and policing reform. Now as a general election candidate who got to bypass the entire Democratic primary, she's back to being Kamala the Cop. She is a chameleon on everything, which is hard to pull off but -- if you can do it believably -- is a huge advantage.
J.D. Vance was, in my opinion, not a good choice for the second spot on the GOP ticket. This is turning out to be a bit of a problem with the neophytes running the New Republican Party. That is, they're choosing people they want to elect versus people they can elect. Putting a Mercantilist in the Senate is a major accomplishment but setting him up in Observatory Circle is moving way too fast. We need a bridge candidate first and I wish Trump would have picked either a neo-establishment figure or a non-iconoclast.
Ultimately, you have a bunch of wide-eyed, idealistic amateurs in the New Republican Party going against the grizzled realists in the Democratic Party. Point Democrats.

Re: U.S. ELECTION 2024 - HARRIS VS TRUMP
To be honest, if Trump were going to lose, I would rather he have lost to Biden than Harris. Biden's frailty allowed some of the Anti-Capitalists in the Democrats to score a few wins, where usually those all go to the Neo-Liberals.
Like, for instance, appointing Lina Kahn to the FTC. If Biden were reelected, Kahn is probably safe at FTC. If Trump is elected, Kahn also probably stays at FTC since J.D. Vance has been a big supporter of her.
But, I predicted, Kahn's days would be numbered if Harris is elected. Then just yesterday I saw Reid Hoffman donated $7 million to the Harris campaign and immediately went on CNN to demand a future Harris presidency shitcan Kahn.

Good analysis! I believed JD Vance was a good pick when it happened, vs Biden, looks like you are running away with things. Making big inroads as a party with tech bro money that had historically skew left... but god damn, people seem to really hate this guy!
Is it too late to change VP choice now that the convention happened? They'd probably have to off him entirely now to pivot and everyone is high on Kamala (re: her chances of winning) right now, but there is lots of room to f*ck it up from here. In CA half the time she'd be running against another democrat in the general elections so I feel like shes really still untested.

Yeah, Trump vs Biden and JD vs Kamala was a good match for the Republicans. But Trump vs Kamala and JD vs [Kelly?] is weak AF for the GOP.mookiemcgee wrote:He already did in 2020!saxitoxin wrote:I would rather he have lost to Biden than Harris.

And Trump's memory is a sieve; he will not perform well in debate against Kamala unless they can get her to agree to a Town Hall-format debate, since he shines in that format. But Kamala is too smart to get lulled into that trap.
Trump and J.D. are intractable in their positions and have no room to maneuver. But Kamala can move any which way. She's the #2 in an Administration that just sent Israel a gajillion dollars in guns. But she boycotted Netanyahu's speech and just today made her own speech where she said "I WILL NOT BE SILENT!" about Palestinian suffering. But then she immediately went next door and did a new speech where she called for all the Palestinian protesters in D.C. to be arrested and thrown in a dungeon. She's everything to everyone and people can literally imagine her as whatever they most want in a candidate and vote their imagination. The well-meaning dummies Trump put in charge of the RNC after it was purged in April simply can't compete against that.
On the other hand, her early polling is still not where it needs to be. But she may be able to keep this honeymoon enthusiasm going through September if she can drag out a VP announcement to early August, have a good DNC with minimal protests in mid August, then deliver a debate KO in early September. Run that gauntlet and I give her 60/40 odds of winning.

What I observe at work is that everyone who says they're going to vote for Harris is doing so for one reason, and one reason only: She's a mixed-race woman. That's the only thing that matters to them. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm just telling you that they say things like "it is about damn time for a woman of color to be in charge". While I personally disagree that this should be someone's deciding factor for who they vote for, I wouldn't underestimate the enthusiasm that motivates people to vote that way.
Re: U.S. ELECTION 2024 - HARRIS VS TRUMP
Does it bother you that a woman can be your next President or is it because she is also mixed race?
What I'm really worried about is, what the heck is a Cub fan doing in Texas?

Re: U.S. ELECTION 2024 - HARRIS VS TRUMP
I like how you twisted what I wrote to make it seem like I have a problem with a mixed race woman being President. Seeing as I'm married to a black woman and we have two mixed children - you know what, you're just a complete A-hole to insinuate that.Pack Rat wrote:Does it bother you that a woman can be your next President or is it because she is also mixed race?

Also, people move to other parts of the country when their company assigns them to a different role or they get promoted. Can you really be that dense?

I listen to both right-wing and left-wing radio stations. The left-wing stations American stations spend half their time whining about racism. The right-wing radio stations spend half their time whining about reverse racism. Two sides of the same crappy coin.
Kamala doesn't even register as black in my eyes. If I spotted her on the street, and had to judge, I would say "Maltese" or "Tunisian". Either way it doesn't matter to me. I don't like her for her skin. I like her because she's a pit bull. Of all the Democratic presidential candidates (in 2020), she was the only one who wasn't a passive-aggressive whiner. She's a pit bull, she'll go for the jugular, and that's what the race needs, someone who will stare down trump and piss in his eye.

That's not a bad way to look at it. If Prick Rat would've actually read my post - what I'm saying is that people can't underestimate the excitement that comes with her nomination. The Trump people are badly underestimating that enthusiasm. I think it's a natural reaction to having dumped Biden, who they saw as a liability and see her as a plus.Dukasaur wrote:As a non-American, I'm always blown away by how Americans make everything about race.Cubsessed wrote:This made me laugh. Re: U.S. ELECTION 2024 - HARRIS VS TRUMP
More interesting posts now with Democrats very enthusiastic about the race and all media eyes on Kamala Harris except for watching JD Vance putting both feet in his mouth. How many times can he do that?
Trump is very upset no attention is on him but he should be glad the media is ignoring his miraculously healed ear. Not a mark on it when he described it as shot off. The big donors are very unhappy as they see Trump blowing it.
MSNBC and CNN are about unwatchable due to their corporate masters and daytime hosts but this was interesting talking to MAGA women voters in a swing state and Trump leaning Independents.
