Tournaments are not what they used to be. I think this is mainly due to the amount of people participating, but also partly because there are not as many elaborate tournaments available for signups.
I want to resurrect some old time favorites and see if I can run them again.
Please post suggestions with link here and I will post a poll to see what is the most popular choice.

This one was a fun one, will have to go way back and look at some more.

This one might be tough for me to duplicate, but will include it for now.

I'm guessing its because it was the first tournament I played in. I joined the site when a mentor of mine in middle school, suffered a traumatic brain injury and I lost him (could no longer function). But for some reason, I LOVED the ebb and flow of these tournament games, and no one seemed to play like a moron (probably because of the point minimum), but also no diplomacy, made it a super fun match.

IIRC - anything by greenoaks was dope.
I was a huge fan of tournaments around specific maps, and everyone was vying for teams that were the best at that map. I particularly miss trips and quads tournaments on relatively simple maps, where it was just lots of the best players on the site getting grouped up and playing. Don't get me wrong, I love a good specialty map tournament, but there is usually one or two standout groups you know will likely win if they join.
Others that had split up/multiple games based on a team split into smaller gametypes was always fun. Similar to ones that had the breakdown like:
https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewt ... p?t=173043
Code: Select all
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
Player 4
Trips:
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
Dubs 1:
Player 1
Player 2
Dubs 2:
Player 3
Player 4
1v1
Player 4
Variations of these would include standard 8-player etc as well which was fun twists.
One Man Clans - which I think were originally hosted by Icepack? But I could be wrong.

It’s awesome that you’re looking to bring back some old tournament favorites! I agree, participation and fewer elaborate options have changed the landscape a bit. Reviving those classic tournaments could definitely spark some interest and engagement.
If you want to gather ideas from others, you could ask for suggestions on tournament types, formats, or even games that people would like to see. Once you’ve compiled them, a poll would be a great way to gauge interest and bring back the most popular choices.

I enjoyed running The International tournament series. The big draw was the prizes, but idk if I can spend that much on you fools again.
