"A Night at the Movies" Tournament (***WINNER I-ANDREI***)

“A Night at the Movies”
Ok folks, this is my first tournament and I decided to do something different. Rather than take an easier route as suggested like pick a map and go 1vs1 on it, I’m going to go along with a theme and then some.
I’m a movie buff and right now with all that’s going in the world, the movie scene is lacking. Not much is coming out that’s worth spending a dime on and going to the movies is not even an option in a lot of places. So, in this household we’ve turned to the oldies, but damn there are still some goodies out there.
I looked on here for movie tourneys, and didn’t find much. All I was able to find was movie genre style tourneys, which then maps would be picked from based on genre. I could be wrong, and that’s all good, but not what I have in mind. Of course I have been mansplained, womansplained, and moosesplained, that I do not know how to work this site on the simplest of stuff, so still learning I guess.
If you are like me, then when you love a movie, doesn’t matter what, you’ll watch it over and over again. Rain or shine. And the movie love list will grow, and to be honest it can be rather generous at times (looking at you (Enter most hated screwed up sequels here)(my list won’t fit on forum)). It’s the nostalgic feel or the music they chose that makes you just go……”honey….I know……it’s 1am honey I know…. yes I have to work in the morning……but I mean…. Gladiator is on and it’s the “are you not entertained scene” ……….(no response, possibly a sigh from the room)…. so, I’ll just finish this and come to bed soon……..sound good honey???...........(nothing)....(possibly more signs)............ok?......(sigh…………… maybe?)……” Two hours later. Movies done. Wife’s asleep. You’re googling cheap divorce lawyers in your area because you can feel the steam coming from the bedroom, why cheap lawyers, guys come on, if you’re getting a divorce lawyer don’t be cheap for crying out loud.
Anyways…tourney is simple, kinda. “A Night at the Movies”. All rounds are movie themed, and I mean movie themed. What’s that mean young padawan; well, it means that like “last action hero”, good sir, you don’t pick a movie, you’re in a movie.
Settings are all a go except for the following:
• No poly (I know it upsets me too, kinda)
• No freestyle (honestly….come on Karen)
• No manual (cause….see freestyle above)
And that is it. All other settings are in play. Why??? Cause Karen, the settings will be movie specific. Along with the tone and goal of the movie (round). Will be organizers choice.
So that’s it really. Each round will have some sort of objective based on the movie picked. Once players are in games will roll out.
Freemiums are welcome but must keep 2 open slots at a time. Games will roll out 1-2 at a time.
Point system. Escalating:
Games 1-5 10 points
Games 6-10 15 points
Games 11-15 20 points
Games 16-20 25 points
***points may vary per round or be spread out, i.e. failure to meet certain movie objectives may cost a negative score
After 20, top four will play a final round of five flicks. Each player will get to pick their favourite of the last round with a random choice added in for the finale tie breaker if needed.
Games will be four player for the most part. A couple 1vs1 and maybe dubs. Like I said anything goes since it’s based on your movie pics. Regardless, random.org will set any player game lineups for each round. Hoping everyone plays each other once. That’s it. PM with movie theme and rules will get sent out each round with forum update as well.
Summary:
• I am looking for sixteen players. Along with 2 reserves.
• If there’s enough interest, then we’ll go to 32. But I’ll cap at 32 along with 3-4 reserves.
• Rounds will be based on movies, of your choosing. Send 2-3 mainstream movie favourites.
• Scoring will escalate; ie. First 5 movies might be 10 points then next 5 will be worth 15 points, etc, to keep the tourney level so everyone has a chance to win
• If you skipped down to this part and don’t understand…..scroll up and read the rest of the forum Karen
• Post the following: “I’m in” along with your top 2-3 mainstream movie selections. One of them will make it in. duplicates are ok hence the 2-3.

Spoiler
of how I intend to do this tourney, recently I had a movie pic given to me, so here’s the premiere movie; “The Matrix”. It’s mainstream like hell and a fan fav so no points will count but we’ll play it out on round 1, just cause, why not, might as well, it’s not like this is the organizers first run or anything….
A Night at the Movies………”The Matrix” Premiere:
Ever get that feeling where you’re not sure if you’re awake or still dreaming?
………
………Follow the white rabbit
………
……..Free your mind
………
…….from the system
……..
You are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind. I’m trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it. The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy……..
You are Neo. Recently awoken. And fighting the hive system that is the Matrix. Survival is not enough. You must bring down the system. And the clock is ticking. Zion is counting on you. Destroy the Matrix from the inside and free everyone from the system, from Deus Ex Machina. Zion and those not yet awoken depend on you, and Trinity’s life depends on it. But this will not be an easy fight. Smith is also after you…and if he gets a hold of you…then you’ll revert back to the system.
…….You have to let it all go, Neo. Fear, doubt, and disbelief. Free your mind……..
Settings and map in invite and PM. Good luck Neo............
