Forum Participation Lottery Day 8

Post by Dukasaur »

Once you see that you have won, notify me ASAP which token you wish to receive! If you do not specify, you will get a Day 6 token by default.
I have chosen the winners for the first 3 days by the following method. The eight people who asked for a token have been granted one. Seven other people who posted in the last three days have been chosen randomly. That catches us up for the first three Days.

Starting with Day 4 (today) there will be actual tasks set out. From the players who complete a task, five players will be randomly chosen.

Today's task: Post in this thread and tell us how/why you chose your avatar.

Winners:
Donelladan
Silly Knig-it
owenshooter
kjsnyi
jmyork82

Day 5 task. Say something nice about another CC member. Post in this thread. It must be someone who is currently on the scoreboard, so no dredging up your favourite ghosts from the past. Please make only genuine compliments. Backhanded compliments, sarcasm, or general snarkiness will be ignored. Only genuine (in my opinion) expressions of admiration will be put in the draw.

13 players participated, and from them I have randomly drawn the following five winners:
-1-1-3-
RobbieDub
robellis00
shoop76
MossyMUFC

In addition, I have non-randomly stretched my budget and allowed a sixth winner, Ronaldhino. I think the amount of work that went into that story deserves something (and I'll assume that "man-eating capybaras" is a coded compliment to nietzsche) pluse Ronaldhino is everybody's favourite CC philanthropist lately.

The winners will get a Day 6 token by default, unless they want some other. Please PM me or Razorvich right away if you want something other than a Day 6 token. Time is short and we hand these out quickly, so your token may have already been awarded before we get your PM.

Day 6 Welcome to Day 6. Tell us how your life has changed since Conquer Club was born. What is the biggest change you have undergone in the last 10 years? Or, if you prefer a slightly less maudlin version, what were you doing 10 years ago while CC was being born?

As always, there will be five winners drawn at random from today's posters, but in addition I reserve the right to non-randomly choose an additional winner for posts with extraordinary merit!

Day 6 is over

5 Random winners:
Captn B
josko.ri
GrudgeBringer_
Extreme Ways
Big_John

Non-random editor's choice award:
shoop76

As usual, you will get a Day 6 token unless you ask for something different.

Day 7 task. (Since we're in the season of the Epiphany.)

Do you think you have ever had what could be called an Epiphany? A sudden, out-of-the-blue burst of wisdom that changed your life?
Silly Knig-it wrote:
What is the season of Epiphany? My early christian upbringing is long gone.

The octave (8 day feast) that begins January 6th.

Your epiphany today is that I am an exceedingly nice guy. Seven people participated today, and five winners were drawn, and I'm thinking "that must feel really shitty, knowing you had a 5/7 chance and you managed to be one of only 2 losers." So, in the spirit of the season, I am just going to arbitrarily award two extra tokens, so all 7 people that posted today will get one.

thelord
dakky21
iamcaffeine
Nailsale
Symmetry
robellis00
Silly Knig-it

The Day 8 task: Go find one of your friends, drag them in here, and get them to post a request for you to get a token. They must be people who have not posted in this thread before! Six tokens will be given away, three to posters and three to the person on whose behalf they have come.

:D

Once you see that you have won, notify me ASAP which token you wish to receive! If you do not specify, you will get a Day 6 token by default.

9 pairs of people participated. Originally, I was going to draw 3 names, but Day 8 has spilled over to Day 9, so there will only be time for one more activity. Thus, I'm making it 5 people from each list:

5 requesters drawn:
jvantassel
elfish_lad
FrenchPupil
cooney
CatchersMitt14

5 clients drawn:
donelladan
Big_John
L M S
Razorvich

I chose my avatar because there was a challenge that required the use of this avatar for a month. I like it, so I just kept it afterwards.

We were surfing the net and something came up as a hairy/hairless dog. We clicked on the image and my avatar appeared - it's a mexican breed and I recently found a friend who has one and brought it to the pub. They are not soft but rough to the touch - like a 2 day beard. All that was needed was to add the spliff. I only look like my avatar early in the morning.

This is only the second avatar I have used here. I changed it for one of the PL monthly avatar themes and kept it.

As a side note, I have no idea what any of the current events are for but felt like posting because I'm cute.

I'm pretty sure [player]generalfault[/player] made avatars for every player in the VDLL. I used to have an old VDLL one or no avatar at all, so now I'm wearing this. I actually want a new one, but don't know what precisely.

i was warned upon return from a bogus 6 month ban, for reporting people calling me N-SHOOTER in the forums (this was in no way racist as the admin was unable to find any instance of N-SHOOTER being racist, online)... excessive posts, i believe (yes, reporting every instance of veiled racism against me was somehow wrong)... anyway, upon my return, this admin sent me a PM, which still resides in my inbox and a few other spots... in this PM, he warned me to act as some sort of BLACK JESUS arisen from the dead, back to save the forums. DONE and DONE! the black jesus was born... at first, i used the Piss Christ image by Andres Serrano, just to get a rise out of people... Then I settled on the black iconography portrait of a Black Jesus. at the time, my friend's wife had begun painting icons for russian orthodox churches (quite amazing)... anyway, that is the birth of the black jesus and the present image...-Jésus noir

It was first becomming a new member plus the search of an original nick name. I had some ideas when i entered CC for the first time, in search for a couple games of risk via google.
The red star logo and red letters immediatly gave me right direction and good ideas. So a various range of names popped up like The_Red_Star, Red_Star07, Big-Red-Danger, Red_Alert etc. And as you can see the needle stopped at Code_RED. And i still dont regret it and really like the name and most of the time i also play with red.
Next step was finding a nice ava. Again i opened google and start typing stuff in for funny pictures. And then i thought what if i just type in my name and see what pops up. And there it was a couple pages of different related pics to the name code red. I also found out that 1 or 2 zombie movies are named the same. Then i just picked a simple one and this is the one and only for me.
That was my bed time story,

The lonely gamer and his avatar

They lived happily ever after.... Then end!

After the last avatar challenge with the alien, I wanted to change my avatar. My wife just saw that movie with the robot and found it quite cute. She was there when I was looking for an avatar so she asked me to put this one. I didn't mind.

My avatar is General Kael from Willow. It was one of my favorite movies from my childhood. I wanted an avatar that would "strike fear" into the hearts of other CC players. So I chose him because he looked bad ass.

Two kittens beating feet to get away
My player nam Silly Knig-it, (couldn't take Silly English Knight, too long), from Monty Phython and the Holy Grail.
Their battle cry was, "Run Away, Run Away"
I love cats.

So combining the two was easy.

Sporting my avatar for the entire month as part of the Monthly Challenge for July 2015 earned me a nice General Challenge medal and an opportunity to win a Yellow Star. Unfortunately, I had no luck winning the yellow star!

Cool stories! I enjoyed reading them all. It's cool sometimes to hear the backstory for things like avatars and slogans that seem almost random.

13 players participated in the Day 4 contest. The five winners are:
Donelladan
Silly Knig-it
owenshooter
kjsnyi
jmyork82

All will win a Day 4 token by default, but can ask for a different one.

I participate quite regularly in tournaments,
Mostly because of great plots but some because of advertisements.
But I just want to put this down on record,
One particular TO is simply top of the horde.
Whenever he sets up a tourney,
I can be guaranteed an amazing journey.
Twists, turns and surprise lurks,
Thrills, spills and the whole works.
This special TO I proclaim to all,
None other than our dear Dukasaur!!!
