I remember...

Post by zsp »

Sure, I may or may not have barely perused the forums and read a thread here or there. I may have read a couple posts in some CC Declining thread, and read a couple posts in other similar threads...

But. what. the. f*ck. happened. to. CC.

I remember the golden years, back in 07, where there were 20+ users in live chat at any given time. I remember when we used that damn gabbly chat. I remember when wicked was a mod. I remember when wicked went batsh*t crazy too. I remember when clapper011 was a mod. The hell happened to her? I remember when people would post in the damn forums nonstop, so much so that it was nearly impossible to keep up with half the threads in a single section of the forum. I remember flame wars. I remember TheProwler and whatever-that-guy's-name-was-that-was-always-high-on-something displaying their undying affection for each other behind slews of flaming and baiting. I remember that owenshooter dude declaring that he's the Black Jesus; I'm assuming he's still doing that. I remember getting banned so much that good ol' Twill had to perma boot the living shite out of me from this site for a solid 7+ years. I remember meeting a couple CC moderators at my University. Seems I have missed a lot.

What the F*CK happened?

I'm not sure what the point of this thread was supposed to be. Whether it be a thread remembering the golden years or just another one of those threads illustrating some old, weathered man reminiscing about the days of old, I do not know. What do you remember from the glory days?

Basically, I remember when CC used to be cool. Seems like a long time ago now.

Bollocks.

I joined in November of 2010. At that time, the Great Decline was already underway. The total membership had fallen only slightly (about 10 or 12%, I think) versus 2009, but the per capita level of activity had already fallen off quite a bit. From my point of view, things now are perfectly normal. The only thing I've ever seen of CC was people distressed that it's not what it used to be.

I'm pretty certain at this point that it will never be what it used to be, but maybe, just maybe, it will one day be something even better.

An owner that stopped having time to do anything, then an owner that never really had time in the first place, and then an owner that likes to do a lot of things that are half-baked. That's what happened.
