opponent selectivity

Post by Liu_Kang_81 »

Can you make it possible to select which players can join your games by rank?

For example, when I play speedgames I don't like chefs joining them, the result of 1on1 games depends too much on the drop + dice instead of strategy (well the ones I play do...), so you lose way too many points if you lose against a chef.
1on1 games aren't good for your score, it doesn't matter if you win a game of 6 players if you lose 2 1on1's against a chef.

It would be cool if you could select which players can join your games, for instance only 1 or 2 ranks below you /1 or 2 ranks higher than you.

great, so most players would like this but it's rejected anyway...

well I have another idea, why not let the players vote when there is an interesting suggestion...

(wouldn't surprise me if there is already a suggestion about that too, and that is has been rejected...)

owen is right, if you join games yourself instead of create and select 'm according to rank, you can easily save yourself points. If you're willing to spend time searching and be patient to find the right games.

As for speed games, you could try and play maps of higher difficulty levels. So instead of playing classic, play Conquer Rome or King's Court.
Cooks usually suck at those maps.

Whatever the map you play, you want to go up the scoreboard, do NOT play 1vs1.
Play multiplayer game, poly or team.

You want to have fun? Forget about your score.

Try to talk to players before starting the game have them join the games you want. You can always see who is playing speed games at any given time so finding them wont be hard. However if your just in it for the points what are you really getting out of this site ?? Have some fun play everyone you know who the better player is why do you have to have a rank title to know that yourself ? Ignore the suggestions forum it will never work out you will just have to find your own way of doing things.

How dare you put down 1vs1 if you play the right maps with the right settings luck will not play a factor. But I'm totally with you on the forget score thing.

i would wager that a thread from 2006 with a little over 1,000 posts in it, is not "most players"... toss out the multiple posts from players, posts from players that have left the site, and spam post and i bet you have 300-400 quality posts in that thread... even with the site down to 8K users, that would not be "most" users... hell, that thread even goes off into a "gambling" tangent... you can already invite people to games, start your own rank restricted games (in call outs) and/or rank restricted tournaments... there are plenty of ways to get around playing lower ranked players if that is what you desire... good luck with this...-Jésus noir

Luck plays a factor in every single game on this site, just to varying degrees. 1v1 is one of the luckiest game types available, but there are ways of reducing that luck by using complicated settings and maps. However, with polymorphic and team games, there is often more strategy required.
