This continues to be a very popular contest!
Guess the Map -- Round 5 by dakky21 show
. Last round we gave you a surprise and there will be more coming! In this fifth installment, the difficulty goes EVEN MORE HIGHER than ever before! In this contest, you will identify Conquer Club maps by small samples extracted from them. Look in the circles, see if you can spot what map that image is extracted from, and PM to [player]dakky21[/player]. There will be 10 rounds with 9 images each, for a maximum score of 90. The images will gradually become more difficult as the issues move on.You must PM your answers to [player]dakky21[/player]. Please do not answer by posting in the thread or PMing to anyone else. Only answers sent to dakky21 will be official. Answers to each issue's quiz must be sent within ten days after the actual publication date. Minor typos will be overlooked. If you mean "Jamaica" and you type "Jamiaca" that's fine. HOWEVER, we are not finishing your thought for you: there is both a Baltic States and a Baltic Crusades. If you just type "Baltic" that is a WRONG answer, because it would require us to finish the thought and decide between Crusades and States. Points will be cumulative over the 10 issues. Depending on interest, the 10th round may carry bonus images and/or bonus points. In case of a tie at the end of the contest, dakky21 will PM a supplementary tiebreaking list of extremely difficult images. Please format your answers as follows:Number dot space Name of Map (Example:1. Jamaica 2. USA 3. Austerlitz Prizes:First place 2000 credits Second place 1000 credits Third place 625 credits Top five contestants get a GA medal. To qualify for any of the above prizes, you must score at least 35 points over the course of the contest. If and only if we get 25 or more contestants, we will have a random draw for a 6th GA medal. If and only if we get 75 or more contestants, the top player will get a Challenge Medal in addition to other prizes.Editor's note: we got the 75 in our first installment! Every issue the top contestant will get one or more Conquer Stars. Just like everything else about the stars, this is shrouded in mystery, so there's no telling what kind of star you will get! Drab? Auburn? Pink? A box of 50 Auburns? Wouldn't you like to know? This star prize can only be won once, so if you win it in week 1 and you are the top contestant in week 2 again, the prize in week 2 will go to the second place contestant, and so on down the list. (for newcomers: guess the maps from picture above and read the rules above it)Round 4 answers: 1. Classic 2. Cyprus 3. Greenland 4. WWII Gazala 5. Rail Europe 6. Oceania 7. Gilamesh 8. Sydney Metro 9. StallingradNOTICE: In last round I didn't count TercioValencia's answers, but here they are now Standings after Round 4: 1. Gabriel13 36 2. Flow520 36 3. The biggest news on the site, of course, is the launch of the Great War mega-event. I am so thrilled and gratified that this project, which I have so long advocated for, is finally a reality. In this issue, we reproduce DoomYoshi's opening announcement.
The other big event, from my perspective as head of the Media Team, is the appointment of a new Facebook Co-ordinator. Since taking on the role only two weeks ago, [player]tzor[/player] has made quite a splash. In our second article below is tzor's original introduction of himself. In the third article, we have a small sampling of some of the posts that tzor has made in support of the current monthly challenge. I hope you find these fascinating.
Great War Main Announcement by DoomYoshi show
Subject: The Great War DoomYoshi wrote: Welcome to the largest event in the history of Conquer Club.
Welcome to the Event that made bigWham do a double-take.
Welcome to an event so Great, it can only be called:
The Great War
This event will last from now until November 11, 2018.
We will try to recreate, using tournaments and sub-events, the entire history of World War I.
This event is dynamic! The rules now may not be the rules in 2018. New features will be added, unpopular features will be dropped.
The general flowchart is:
tokens -> auto-tournaments -> prizes and medals
medals -> scoreboard -> bigger prizes
For the next 2-3 weeks, we are playing "Catch-Up" trying to get on track, so there can be a 100 year gap between battle and tournament. After this initial period, the game load will drop substantially! Quick Links:

Tzor Assimilated Into CC Collective by himself show
Announcement: I was in the General Discussion Form a while back and while it would have been in my better interest to mind my own business, I mentioned casually that it might be a nice idea if the Facebook page was more active and interesting. The next thing I heard was a voice from behind me saying “fresh blood.” Another one said, “we have a live one here.” Before I knew it, they jumped me and assimilated me into the CC Collective. And that’s how I came to be a Facebook “Volunteer.” I think I’m also a superconductor because they told me “resistance is futile.” In any event I hope to generate some magnetism through Facebook for the game we all love. Continuing with the BORG theme for a moment, there is a massive potential to use Facebook in a BORG like manner. With an active Facebook page that is liked by the many players of CC who are active on Facebook, it is possible to post items of interesting information that can be seen by the members who have liked the page and in turn shared on their own timelines allowing it to be seen by a wider audience who in turn could come to like our Facebook page and who in turn could eventually discover CC for themselves. One of the interesting things about Facebook is the graphical nature of the place. A picture really does say a thousand words and graphical posts tend to generally get the most likes and shares, according to people who do research on these things. Naturally these graphical posts need to reflect the values, standards, and themes of CC as well as being so exceptionally interesting that everyone who sees them will want to share them on the spot. Anyway, now that I am assimilated I hope to be more than just a pretty face (book).

Great job as always, team! FYI, in Officialdom, DY's name is misspelled (space btwn words), which breaks the link to his profile. Also, only DaveH appears to be keeping with the tradition of introducing every section with "Welcome to your favorite part of the newsletter." Gotta pick it up.

*Random Feature Special*
Did you know that if you leave a army of 999 for 5 rounds on the terit 'KA' on the Conquer Man map, our very own king achilles will show up at your house and cook you dinner? The food may not taste very good, but the experience will be well worth it!

Ah, there is a typo error. That should be 50 rounds and not 5. Blame Duk.
