Welcome Comrades to the 105th edition of the Dispatch
There is a long-standing tradition that an issue of the Dispatch is named after the subject of that issue's Interrogation. This is a tradition which I have now violated in seven of the last eight issues, and I am afraid I will have to do so again. "I am become Death, the destroyer of traditions...." Really ironic, considering how strongly I believe that a community needs to have ties to its past and respect its history.
Still, although I really enjoyed the Interrogation of chapcrap (see Mess Hall and Interrogation Room, below) once again major news on the site is overshadowing this development. Accordingly, I have named this issue Polymorphia, in honour of the major update that has caught many people's interest.
Here's what we have on tap for you:
The first regular section is Mess Hall and Interrogation Room, which includes the above-mentioned interrogation of chapcrap, as well as the second installment of [player]IAmCaffeine[/player]'s trivia contest. The first installment had relatively few entrants, so there is plenty of opportunity to get in there and score some points!
The Platoon Report covers all aspects of the Clan scene. It just gets bigger and better every issue. I'm going to stop talking about how much bigger and better it is again, because I'm running out of superlatives! Even if you're not a clan player, [player]TheVoice[/player]'s analysis of what maps the clans are playing on may give you some insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the various maps.
War Games covers all aspects of the tournament scene. If you haven't been involved in tournaments lately, here's some background to bite into. Particularly interesting is that Join This? Or Not! contains a full bevy of freemium-friendly tournaments this time around. If you find it difficult to find freemium-friendly tournaments, this is definitely a place to look.
In Cartographic Surveillance, our hard-working duo of Seamus and Koontz cover all that is new in the foundry. Just like the foundry itself, there is a lot of work that goes into presenting this information to us. If you haven't looked lately, you might be surprised by what is cooking!
Next issue, Seamus76 will be the guest publisher, so expect something pretty special for that one!
Finally, our Next Mission Brief includes such things as the closing credits and information on how to subscribe.

And finally some late-breaking news: Late-breaking News and Announcements
[spoiler=Interrogation of chapcrap]Q. Chap I've (betiko) always wondered what the hell does your avatar represents? That’s a good question. I’m happy to answer. It’s just a family crest. My last name is Chapman.
Q. I'm (Dukasaur) more curious about what your name represents? Are you a chap who's always in crap? Oh shoot, I should have said spoiler before I answered the first question. It’s a nickname from high school that comes from my last name.
Q. How would you rate yourself as a mafia player from a scale of 1-10? Oh man… When I’m playing, I would say that I’m about a 7. Definitely above average, but I haven’t had any time to do that because of a job switch. My time is a little more sporadic than it used to be.
It was nice because it let me geek out with a couple of different things I like at once.
PS: The Wizards won!!!
Q. Favorite mafia role? Probably the mafia member. I really like to be in the know with more people. If I’m not mafia, I do like to have an ability, but you can never underestimate a good VT. The best way to play a VT is to get way involved from the outset and pull information out of people then overplay your town hand, so that the mafia wastes a lynch on you.
Q. What is your favorite destination for holiday? We never really vacationed much when I was growing up. Mostly just trips to see family. I would say my two favorite places growing up (and I still like today) were Busch Stadium to watch the St. Louis Cardinals win some baseball games and to the Little Debbie factory in Gentry, Arkansas. Gentry was a fun day trip/weekend. Pretty much the whole town is Seventh Day Adventist, so everything is closed down on Saturdays.
Q. How much time do you spend on CC? Not as much as I used to. When I first became a mod (almost two years ago), I was working evenings and had a lot more free time at work than I do now. So, I could spend extra time on CC from there. Now my CC time is a lot more sporadic. I’d say my CC time is down to about 20 hours a week.
Q. Am I (smegal69) on your Foe list? Nope. I don’t have a very big foe list I feel like for as long as I’ve been on here. People just get there from being a very bad player or being a jerk once too often. Here’s the whole list:
Q. What made you go out there and start your own clan? Wanted to play with a group of guys I knew pretty close and be able to shape the destination and path of the clan. It’s been a fun journey so far. We’re number 6 in the rankings right now. That’s not too bad for 15 months of work.
Q. What was the first thing you ever did better than your classmates? Math. I’m pimp at adding single digits.
Q. 1-10, 1 being awesome and 10 being super awesome...how awesome would you say I (IcePack) am? the Fallen? Happyfeet? I guess I’m confused because I’m not sure everything fits on the scale. I’ll do my best:
IcePack: -32 the Fallen: 132 happyfeet: 7
Q. How do you put up with icepack? It’s rough. I’ve gotten a new phone twice now, but he keeps getting my phone number. I’m not sure what to do about it. If anyone knows anyone that can help me, it would be appreciated. So far, I’ve been managing with the help of http://kcpsych.com/
Q. What is one of your favorite parts of being a TD? Least favorite? One of my favorites is being able to be there for people when they need help. It’s a gratifying thing that you can help someone as soon as they need the help or if you can’t, you know right where to go.
I would say the least favorite is having to go pick up Serbia after his binges. This is why we’ve really recruited some new CD’s. Each weekend one of us ‘takes call’ and I was getting pretty tired. Here’s him from last weekend:
Q. Who is your favorite TD to work with? (ahem) Definitely Steelhorse. These guys we have around now are nuts.
Q. How do you like being a leader of a clan? What is your favorite part of the clan world? I like being a leader. It’s take a lot of time and dedication. Something you have to realize when you become a leader is that a lot of people are putting themselves in your hands. You need to take that responsibility seriously, because not only does it harm the people in your own clan if you fail them as a leader, it hurts the clan world as a whole. Putting your best foot forward at all times is the best way to go about it.
My favorite thing is the competition. It’s a really large group of us here and being able to affiliate yourself with a group and go all out against the others is what is awesome.
Q. Fave thing bout being a leader of The Fallen? Getting to play with a great group of guys. NO GIRLS ALLOWED!!
We just say that because we can’t get any girls and it makes us feel better.
Q. Worst thing bout being a leader of The Fallen? Giving IcePack your phone number. Q. Fave tourney you've ran? I’ve ran a lot… I would say that this one is my favorite: https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=142815
Q. Fave tourney you've played it? Hmm… I’ve played in over 7000 tournament games. It’s hard to pick a favorite. I think that I’ll pick this one, because I’d really like to see some more tournaments like it: https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=147693
I’m looking at you Foundry guys!!
Q. How many medals is enough? How much air is enough?
Q. What's the highest number of games you've had going at once? I was routinely about 150-160 for quite a while. I think I topped out around 184 or something like that.
Q. Do you still like flour? Of course!!!
This is why I thought that Gold Medals should be higher than Platinum Medals!!
Q. Ass or breast man? Yes please. I really like stomachs more than anything. I good belly is what’s the most attractive. That being said, there isn’t a butt that I do not look at. I can’t help it. It’s not a chauvinist guy thing. I just look at everyone’s butts. I point out the truly awful ones to my wife. I’m a connoisseur. However, my wife has pretty big boobs. Maybe I have a picture… Here’s her 15 weeks pregnant.
So, yeah, I like body parts.
Q. Do you feel optimistic or pessimistic about the future of CC? I would say optimistic. This is definitely a transition period. I know the guys running the place really want to have things go well and are all trying their hardest. There is a lot to catch up on because of relative lack of updates. I’m hoping these can all get going and get a little smoother. I think in a year, all these major updates will be through and we’ll be talking about a lot of even more fun things. I mean, we just got polymorphic games and those are maybe the best thing on the site. Great stuff is coming, but I think it’s gonna be a little rocky getting there at first.
Q. Is there any team you don't want to be a mod for? International Team. I’m only on four teams right now though, so I have a couple more to get to. I need to start making maps I think.
Q. You're in the middle of a game when Mikey Mouse shows up for dinner. What vegetable do you serve? Wait. Who is Mikey Mouse? Is that Mickey’s brother? All this time, I’ve been thinking that Mickey was an only child. I’ve never heard of this guy. What’s next? Minnie’s got a sister? If she does, I hope she’s hot. Maybe something a little like this:
Well, either way, I wouldn’t be serving vegetables. Probably a nice cheese platter with some pastries to complement it.
Q. Who is Mikey Mouse? Is he Mickey Mouse's nemesis? Oh, holy crap! This whole time I was thinking it was Mickey’s brother. If it’s his nemesis, I definitely can’t be putting out the good cheese platter!
Q. What is your opinion on the story of Rapunzel? Girls are always better looking with long hair, but sometimes there is a little. It starts to get a little gross if it’s too long. Also, what did she do, use Miracle Gro?! I mean, that’s a little crazy. Maybe it was the witches spell that made it longer. As a general rule, I try to stay away from witch spells.
Q. Would you prefer a girl with one breast or one arse cheek? This is a tough one. I did a little bit of Googling on this one to help aid my decision. The thing I think that we need to take into account is how easy it is to fix the situation. Obviously two is optimal for each, with three being better than one. So, I’d definitely go with one breast, because it’s a lot easier to get a boob job than it is to get a butt job. FYI – don’t Google butt job.
Q. How much chap would a chapcrap crap if a chapcrap could crap chap? The question is not if I can, but what my record is. The answer is of course 13.4 inches.
Q. If you could live one day over again, which would it be? I’ll pick my wedding night. The reason is because I punched my wife in the face on accident. So, we were sleeping and I was dreaming that I was playing basketball. There was some giant guy who just laid on me and wouldn’t get off, so I was swinging and punching him in my dream. Well, in real life, my wife was laying me and I ended up punching her in my sleep. I felt so bad. I went and got her ice for her face. So, I’d live it over and get her some head gear or something to absorb my blows a little better.
Q. If you had to change your name onsite, what would your new name be? Pixar
Q. Can blind people see their dreams? That just blew my mind. I’m going to say no, because what would they see? They don’t have that experience, right?
Q. If you could challenge another member of CC to a fist fight solely based on your impression of them on the site, who would you pick and why? [player]AndyDuFresne[/player]. I’ve always wanted to fight a monkey.
Q. How does it feel to be king of all things freestyle? (Referring to
Q. How often do you read the Dispatch? I read some of it sometimes. I don’t usually read all of it, because I don’t have the time, but I do think it’s quality stuff.
Q. Please tell us your thoughts on the St. Louis Cardinals. I’m glad you asked about that. They are currently 2-0 in the NLCS and surely about to go 3-0 tonight in their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Great franchise with a great pipeline of young players. A lot of these players came with Jeff Luhnow as part of the organization. He’s with the Astros now, so I wonder if the Astros will be able to field some similar talent in 3-5 years. Anyway, I would say that the Cardinals are very strong with pitching. They could use a little more over the fence power I think. That may come from some guys next year. The one position I would think about upgrading in the field is probably shortstop. With the depth of pitching that the Cardinals have, I think that the Diamondbacks would be a great trade partner this winter, because they could use some pitching and they have two quality shortstops is Chris Owings and Didi Gregorious. Another possibility is Texas with their two young shortstops. It’s going to be an interesting off season, because I see the Cardinals being very involved in trading.
Q. Yes, why was Whitey Herzog the smartest man on earth? It mostly had to do with Willie McGee and Vince Coleman being faster than rockets. I mean go back and look how many steals Coleman had. He was gonna run, and the other team knew he was gonna run and he still stole over 100 bases in a season.
Q. When he dies, will they make extracts from his brain and sell them? It’ll have to be black market, but the answer is yes.
Q. What would you do for a Klondike Bar? Would you kill a man? Not much, it’s too ice creamy and chocolately for me. I might like some salt water taffy or gummy bears.
Yes, I would kill a man.
Q. What was your third favorite experience from the ages 12 to 17.5? It had to do with a banana popsicle, a 3 iron, and a swimming pool. I’m not legally allowed to say any more about it.
Q. Who is your favorite former Suggestions Team Leader that is not TFO? I can’t remember any good ones besides him.
Q. What's changed in the TPA under your direction? Not a ton. We’ve shortened the season a little bit and added some prizes and an All Star event, but not too much other than that. Hopefully more hands on deck and more minds in the pot will make it continue to be great. The guys who’s been here before have done a great job, so we’re mostly just carrying the torch on.
Q. How often do you beat your wife? (on CC...) Will your now/future children play CC? How long will you play nice until you crush them? I beat my wife in everything!! That’s why we don’t play very many games. We have Risk, Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, Scrabble, Battleship, and a lot of card games. The only thing she’ll still play with me is Battleship. I beat her at that three nights ago. No mercy!! I feel the same with the kids! I don’t let up! Of course, I’ll probably play more games of chance with them than games of skill… Here I come Trouble, UNO, Sorry, Yahtzee!, and so many others.[/spoiler]
Welcome to another jam-packed issue of the Platoon Report, your headquarters for Clan news!
Just last issue, I wrote about CC users suggestions for updates to the Clan page and lo and behold updates have arrived. The complete war history of every clan, active or otherwise, right down to the game-by-game level, is now available in each clan's Details page! This is a HUGE accomplishment and a great deal of thanks is owed to [player]Leehar[/player], [player]chemefreak[/player], and to [player]bigWham[/player] for all their work bringing this to reality. The winning clan avatars are also updated for active clans, and the date founded has been included for each clan. Clans also have their own details page, which includes links to their recruitment and headquarter pages. It's safe to say, the Clan page has become a source of a great deal of information, and is looking fantastic... if you haven't checked it out yet, you're missing out!
Our reporters have been on overdrive for this edition! [player]Keefie[/player] kicks it off with an update on Clan League 5, which is rapidly drawing to its exciting conclusion. [player]The Voice[/player] has done an thoroughly interesting study of where the CC4 wars are - or more specifically, the maps on which the battles are occurring. [player]Betiko[/player] challenges our readers to think about all the new gameplay options, and how they might impact the clan scene. Last but certainly not least, [player]IcePack[/player] backs up and drops off a truckload of rankings for your enjoyment - the latest version of the F400, a first look at 1v1 rankings, and the Platoon Report exclusive Combined Conquer Clan Standings.
Believe it or not, there's much much more going on in the clan world, and we need your help to inform the rest CC Clan world! We're looking for regular reporters to help cover the other great events that are going on.. contact me or [player]Dukasaur[/player] if you're interested!
Where the CC4 Wars Areby The Voice [spoiler=Where the CC4 Wars Are]The Round of 16 in the CC4 has seen many veteran players and their teams clash. These wars were LoW vs. ID / Kort vs. TFFS / RA vs. ATL / TOFU vs. DYN / TSM vs. Myth / IA vs. MM / AFOS vs. ACE. As this round comes to a close, I wanted to take a closer look at where the battles were fought.
With all of the close battles being waged, choosing one home map over another can be the difference between winning and losing an entire war, which is why many teams take map selection seriously.
This round saw 480 games take place (tie-breaks not included), more than twice the number of available maps. Of the approximately 225 live maps not in beta, 152 were used.
Nothing New Some of the frequently used maps came as no surprise to me. The two most popular maps that feature Rome, Conquer Rome and Poison Rome, were used 12 and 9 times respectively. Hive (played 9 times) and First Nations Americas (played 7 times) made routine appearances thanks primarily to the unlimited gurus. Fittingly, war-themed maps dominated the most-played list; Arms Race!, Battle for Iraq, Pearl Harbor, WWII Europe, Bamboo Jack, D-Day: Omaha Beach, Baltic Crusades, Lunar War, Third Crusade, and Waterloo all had more than 5 appearances. In all, 25 maps were used more than 5 times across all wars.
Clans left little to chance. No clan chose itty-bitty maps such as Luxembourg, Egypt: Lower, or Madagascar, and the Random Map generator was used but once.
What I learned Relatively newer maps such as Baltic Crusades, King's Court II, and Eurasia were each used 6 times, indicating that they might be popular choices for years to come. Despite it being the 4th oldest map, Brazil is still fresh in the minds of many. With 1 exception, if you were playing on an Age of Realms map, you were playing Magic. And first turn advantage didn't stop City Mogul from making 6 appearances.
Big Surprises Overall site popularity doesn't necessarily correlate with Clan game popularity. In fact, of the 20 most played maps on this site, only two were played more than 5 times, Arms Race! and Feudal Epic. The biggest shock to me was that my favorite map, Pelo War, along with Feudal War had only 2 showings apiece. As a frame of reference, Doodle Earth was even played twice. I wouldn't consider it to require much strategy, but perhaps it's the novelty of playing CC's smallest map. Classic also had a poultry turnout of 1 game.
Epic Conquering So, what map took home the title as the most used in the Round of 16? It was a tie between Feudal Epic and Conquer Rome, which each made 12 appearances.[/spoiler] [spoiler=Maps Played More than 5 times]1. Feudal Epic (12) 2. Conquer Rome (12) 3. Battle for Iraq (9) 4. In the title, which is the publication date, says 2-2-2009 (even though the timestamp of the first post is different). This current issue is a good example of that. The publication date is 16-10-2013, yet the timestamp of the first post is in June.

That's an arguable point I guess. I would argue it's not actually published until it is posted. Dukasaur can rule on this one.
In which case the answer is Optimus Prime at 4,538.
As mentioned, all answers can be found in the Dispatch; here.
Gilligan wrote:#10: You specified no timezone....In my land it was 10:39 AM, maybe in yours it was 2:39 PM.
Anyway, I still love trivia and will continue to participate.
Fair point, I didn't consider that as I assumed everyone would be on CC time. In that case all answers with the correct date and minutes will be marked right. I'll amend this in the next issue.

I have to agree with Gilligan on #3 (of course, that was my answer, too ). For some reason, the timestamp of the first post seems to be before the stated publication date. I've never figured that out. As he stated, Issue 104 is an excellent example. There's a difference of 3½ months between those dates!

The same issue lies with this answer. That dispatch went out on March 30. As I was the one that updated those fun little stats in the Hall of Fame, there was no way they could have gotten that information BEFORE I posted it. I would immediately publish the data as I had it, I never did what IcePack does with the F400 ("The next F400 is published in the dispatch", etc).
Anyway, I'm not going to make a scene about it, because there is ambiguity in dates posted and dates published with the dispatch.

Re #9: Okay, I found the newsletter where it talks about the foundry reorganization in February but here: The Foundry is being Revamped! is a discussion about the foundry actually being shut down in December of 2009 for "a mysterious ongoing refurbishment".
Apparently, I was just dead wrong on #10!
the difference in dates is they are working on a draft/template which then gets posted.
There are often 3 possible dates for a newsletter. There is a stated date in the title (which is sometimes wrong although usually very close), there is a timestamp on the post (which is often just the date that the template was made, not the date of publication), and last but not least there is the true actual publication date (which may be difficult to prove due to the presence of the other two.)
Since this is a friendly competition, I would say that when in doubt, give them the points. If there's more than one correct answer, let's not quibble about which one is the most correct.

Your word is law, amendments will be made next issue.
