Welcome to the great community map project. Here we aim to make the next best thing to sliced bread. A map made by the whole conquer club community, for the whole conquer club community. So the more you and your friends take part, the better it will be.

Here is how it will work.
Over the next few weeks, we will run a series of polls. All you have to do is vote for your favoured choice or choices. See, it is that easy. The first poll is already up and running. Each poll will run for about a week. At the end, a competition will be held to see who can make the best map from the set of criteria we have all set. Be warned though, each choice you make will effect the next polls options.

Lets have some fun.
To make this fun for all, we are going to be giving a few medals away each week and months. So you do not just come vote and run, each week, a player at the end of the month will receive a GC medal and 500 conquer credits. This medal will be called The Patrons Medal. To win this, all you need to do is say why you voted the way you did over the course of the month and generally participate within the thread. (2 months = 2 medals & credits)

You can read more about the Patrons Medal below in the information spoiler.

Some of you would of played the competitions I have been running in the dispatch over the last few months. Well, they have now been brought here. Each week, a simple fun competition or competitions will be run. Just look out for the post that has the competitions banner in it.

A series of fast and furious tournaments will be run. You can enter these in the tournament thread. But a GA medal will also be awarded to a player in these tournaments. You need to play in the tournament and be part of this thread to have a chance of winning though.

[spoiler=Information]Patrons medal
  • This medal is a General achievement medal only handed out twice. These are the ones most prized.
  • 500 conquer credits will also be awarded.
  • The Patrons medal is awarded to the person who has made the biggest positive contribution to this project within the thread.
Competitions Medals
The competitions that have been run in the foundry dispatch, will for the duration of this, be part of this. Normal dispatch rules will apply and will be posted every time a competition takes place.
  • No answers posted in the thread.
  • All answers sent by PM to [player]koontz1973[/player]
  • Some competitions will have special rules. These will be posted at the beginning of that competition.
Tournaments
Tournaments will be held the normal way and to Conquer Club rules. A general achievement medal might be handed out for these as well as the tournament winners medal. More information will be in the tournaments themselves. Look out for the tournament banner.
Map specifics
Whilst this project will endeavour to include all of the communities ideas, two will not be allowed from the start. Battle Royale and 1 Vs 1.
[/spoiler]
[spoiler=showing your support]You can show your support for this project in more ways than just showing up. We have an avatar and signature for you to use as well. Randomly as I travel through the forums, if I come across someone using either one, a medal will be thrown at them. Think of it like the spread the love competition. Just without the partner.

Welcome to the last weekly competition held in the foundry in conjunction with The Great Community Map Project. We have a good one this week.

.................................................Last One

Competitions are all over now. But more will be coming to the foundry soon.

[spoiler=Competition 1 Closed winner swifte]Image
To mark the start of the project, we have a very simple competition to start with. I like to call this one:

.......................................................... Persuasion
Here is how it works. You all need to get out there into the conquer club forums and persuade people to come and post here. No mass PMs allowed. Sounds simple doesn't it. Well, I never make it easy on you. The people you get to come here have to do some things to get you points.

  • If the person posts in this forum saying who asked them to come here = 1 point.
  • If the person posts in this forum saying who asked them to come here, votes and posts what he voted for = 2 points.
  • If the person posts in this forum saying who asked them to come here, votes and posts what he voted for and posts some constructive feedback into any drafting room thread = 5 points.
Something constructive will be determined by foundry guidelines.
Example AnswersEl_Jefe asked me to post here.
................................1 point.
El_Jefe asked me to post here and I voted ____________
................................2 points.
El_Jefe asked me to post here, I voted ____________
whilst leaving constructive feedback in ___________________.

................................5 points.

0 points given for answers with no names of the player who asked them to come.
Examples of constructive feedback raise 3 things.
1. State what your concerns are.
2. State why you find these points concerns.
3. Most importantly, state what you believe is a good or possible solution to your concerns.

The closer you get to these three points the better.
Here are some rules for you.A player cannot vote for another player but can for themselves. (An easy 5 points ;) )
A voter can change his or her vote at any time.
A voter can become a player.
No mass PMs allowed.
You will have until this time so you better get moving.
At the end of the competition, I will tally up all points. The player with the most points will win a Image courtesy of the foundry team. The voters for the winning player will be entered into random.org to see who wins the second Image.

In case of a tie, both players will be awarded the medal. Both sets of voters will be entered into one draw for the voters medal.

Remember, you only have until this time so you better get moving.

........................................................................................................................................................................#GCCM[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Competition 2 Winner Armandolas]Image
For our second competition, we are going to look into the future.

...............................What Can I Say?
Every map that gets made, a small description needs to be written. This is what was written for Rorke's Drift.
Map Description wrote:January 1879, around 4500 Zulu warriors attacked the tiny outpost of Rorke's Drift. Under the command of Chard and Bromhead, around 130 British and 20 Natal regulars defended the outpost for 2 whole days before relief.

Below, you will find 4 descriptions for 4 different maps at different stages of map making.
You will find the maps in the
drafting room, main foundry and beta map forums. All you need to do is go hunting for which map is being described. Then when you have the four maps, send the names of them to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) via PM.

Map 1
Battle for HIGH GROUND! Auto-deploy bonuses which increase as players conquer higher ground; higher levels bombard lower levels. The summit is the only territory that can kill starting spots.
Map 2
Set of on your travels, exploring the furthest regions. Explore unknown lands with famous explorers. But watch out for monsters swim in the waters.
Map 3
This is a simple map, in some ways similar to route 66, where the win objective is to hold the route. Its based on real life, but I have added a few stations and connections that would/could be built in the future.
Map 4
This map incorporates resource collection (4 weapons), build-a-bonus (Capitals), auto-deploy territories, gameplay from standard CC maps, and continues the series style including two "free-for-all" regions.

[spoiler=rules]Please read through all rules.
  • No posting answers into the thread.
  • Send all answers to me [player]koontz1973[/player] via PM.
  • Answers to me by this time
  • At the end of the competition, all correct answers will be entered into a random draw (Random.org) to determine the winner of the GA medal.

Disclaimer: Maps can be moved by the foundry personal at any time. So a map can go from the drafting room to the main foundry or from beta maps to the recycle bin. This will only be done per normal foundry rules and not to mess with your heads. ;) [/size]

Good luck and have fun. :D[/spoiler]
[spoiler= competition 3 multiple winners]Image
For our third competition, you are going to look into the future.

...............................What Can You Say?
Last week, I asked you all to look in the foundry for maps that I had posted a description of. Some of you faired better than others. But every map needs this small description written.

Now it is your turn to write one for us. Below is a list of maps at various stages of development. Click on any of the names to take you to the thread. There you will find the maps image. Write out a short description and send it to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) with the maps image using the form below.

Code: Select all

Remember, the description must belong to the map and be recognisable.

Get the entries submitted to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) by 20th April for judging by the Mod-Team. For every entry that gets a majority of thumbs up, will receive a general achievement medal. One entry per player.

All entries will be judged by a crack squad of troops who recently broke out of a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by El_Jefe they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The Mod-Team.

Good luck and have fun. :D[/spoiler]

Welcome to the forth weekly competition held in the foundry in conjunction with The Great Community Map Project.

..........................................Mind Bender

A rather nasty little competition for you this week.

I went for a walk round the foundry forums, Drafting room, Main foundry , Beta maps and the Atlas.

On my travels, I stopped of at many interesting places. Can you guess where I went?

Look at the image below. In this image you will see strips of many maps. How many, I will not tell you. The strips have not been resized or altered in any way.
;) But it is up to you to decipher the image and list all of the maps.
Image

List all of the maps you can find. The player with the most maps found will be declared the winner. If multiple entries find all maps, multiple medals (Max of 5) will be awarded.

Get the entries to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) by this time.

Good luck and happy hunting. :D

Welcome to the fifth weekly competition held in the foundry in conjunction with The Great Community Map Project. We have a great one for you this week.

.................................................Carnival Games

Take a close look at the image below. It is from a simple childhood game of guess how many jellybean's are in the jar. Only this time, it is maps in a jar. But like jellybean's, more than one of the same colour can be in the jar. ;) Do not send the maps names, just the number of different maps.
Example
1 Midgard map = 1 map found.
2 Midgard maps = 1 map found.

    Image
The player with the closest number will be declared the winner. If multiple entries answer correctly, multiple medals (Max of 5) will be awarded.

Get the entries to me (koontz1973) by this time.

Welcome to the last weekly competition held in the foundry in conjunction with The Great Community Map Project. We have a good one this week.

.................................................Last One

It seems fitting that for our last competition here at The Great Community Map Project, we celebrateImage the foundry and all thing within. The foundry is the place where maps are made and binned. ;) Maps can be found in either The Atlas, Beta Maps, Main Foundry, Drafting Room or Recycle Bin.

Below, you will find an image. On that image are 13 pieces of puzzles. Can you find the right maps for each piece?

Image

List all of the maps you can find. The player with the most maps found will be declared the winner. If multiple entries find all maps, multiple medals will be awarded. But as this is the last one, extra will be handed out. The first and last entrants will get a special medal. ;)

Get the entries to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) by this time.

Good luck and happy hunting. :D[/spoiler]

i voted a fantasy map because i think that most real places have been "mapped". why not just a map with lots of people from the CC forums community? there is one made with the clans, could be one with the forums.
I don't know, some territories could have the name of certain players, and depending on the players, some could be able to bombard, some players could be autodeploys, some people that always share the same point of view could gve bonuses, some that are "enemies" could give negative bonuses if you hold both...
and those maps could be updated once in a while. it could be like a running joke to see that X or Y player has been attributed this or that spot on the CC forum map this month. would be a very interactive map based on the community, with a layout that would remain the same but with names changing once a month.

But can you persuade the others to go along with you? Not everyone likes bombards or auto deploys, so why should they be included? As for players names, I can see that, mine is already on one map. But how many RL places have thenobodies80 as a place name.

Rorke's Drift :ugeek:

I guess it would depend, for me, what the place *would* be if it were a real place. I'd life to see a new Asia map (you know...not Far East). I'll have to think on my vote some more.

Guys...These kinds of posts will obviously get us nowhere. OBVIOUSLY, koontz will check to the username of the poster and if it's the same as the guy that referred him, he won't be getting any points for the GA medal.

You should be posting here for the good of the foundry, not for the *chance* of a GA medal. :|

So true, the benefit of the foundry is what we are here for.

Gilligan, the rules state you can vote for yourself for an easy 5 points. It is the others you persuade to come is what counts. The ones that would not normally come here. Just a shame noone read the rules though. You need to post feedback in any thread here.

These things always hit teething problems the first few days. ;)

Not to worry, we all miss things now and again. Been working on this for over a month now and know every single comma, colon and syntax. ;) But I see you did not miss the advert spoiler for the medal though.

I would have changed my clothes here even without a random medal being thrown at my head. ;) Could be dangerous.

I don't quite have a video, but there's me building my bathtub, which would inevitably mean I change my clothes at some point:

I'd choose Kittens if I could in this poll I think. Whether it is "real" or "madeup" doesn't dramatically affect my interest in a map. As long as it is visually appealing, and appeals to my love standard or straightforward gameplay mostly, I like I like I like.
