"truly shocking news": people who do tons and tons of crack die younger than the national average.
Next up, obesity. Shocking new discovery that fat butts die younger than active adults!

Whitney Houston's family was told by L.A. County Coroner officials ... the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol ... this according to family sources. - TMZ
When we'll people learn to not mix prescription drugs and alcohol. So many people (including stars) have died that way.

Crack was not her drug of choice or were you just making a gender pun? It was
her life to live
and I won't make moral judgements over the choices made. It's over and she's gone.
“Death must be so beautiful.
To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head,
and listen to silence.
To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow.
To forget time, to forgive life,
to be at peace.” ― Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

actually if you ever watched her interview with diane sawyer, she says specifically she was rich enough that crack was beneath her. I tended to believe she was right more likely cocaine but hey that was her choice.
Alot of people are skinny and not considered crack heads. Demi Moore a crackhead?
Besides most crack head have a tell, their teeth get really screwed up. Hers really look good and still look original.
Crackhead no,prescription junkie most likely, but thats about half of america now anyways. Drugs for everything today, doctor my dog died today. Oh to bad here take this addictive shit you will feel better about it in thirty years or so.
doctor my child is not well behaved, oh(goldmine) here give that little fucker this addictive shit you wont have any more problems out of him,by the way has this made you feel bad, oh (double goldmine) here take this you will feel better about drugging your kid up because you suck as a parent.
Back on topic Whitney one of the best voices I have ever heard.

Wait, what does her being a reader of Cracked have to do with her death?

The only problem is that she was known in the music world for smoking and selling crack. So many unconnected sources have corroborated that fact, even with a DEA investigation into her and Bobby selling the stuff...
It was pretty serious there for a little while. She did smoke crack, a lot.

It's possible that she had her teeth capped long ago anyways (like a lot of Hollywooders do).

Bullshit. Quit watching Hollywood "promoting Entertainment" Tabloid Television.
The only fact known in the music world is that she did drugs and to many
people that is a problem. Today's news reports that no illegal substances
were found, but prescription drugs were there that are considered typical
to the average American home.
The other fact known in the music world is that
she was a rare talent.

You may be right...
Still I think this is the funniest thread title / subject combo I have read in awhile.

No, I don't watch tabloid television, this is stuff I've heard from people in comedy clubs (not while on stage), talent agents, and the like. She's used pretty frequently as a cautionary tale.

Cool, hearsay is usually a good source for the very best of rumors.
Not that it matters now... it's a done deal after all.
But I'm not going to believe it's true until I hear it on FOX News,
the only genuinely credible source of information that remains.

Some of these were people who were involved in the business with her. As in, moving weight. Credible eye witnesses.
But hey, why am I trying to convince you? You're the guy who says that this: Quran (4:56) - Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment Lo! Allah is ever Mighty, Wise
actually says: "Turn the other cheek"

I didn't say "turn the other cheek," I advised you to pull the plug from between your cheeks before you are overwhelmed by mental toxins. The Qu'ran passage you quote --that graphically describes a Devil's Cookbook recipe-- is not a Muslim call to arms.
You continue to wander off the path dave. This thread is about a gifted singer who's talents, limitations and celebrity are now history. All that remains is the memories for her family, her friends and the fans who loved her... and the well documented legacy of an amazing voice.

it is interesting to compare the size of the reaction to deaths like this or michael jackson with the size of the reaction to the death of vaclav havel (how many of you even know who he is or that he died recent?)
i am not saying this to criticise houston who i am sure is a good singer. it is just a curious difference and when you look at what they achieved

Yeah, like memories of her substance abuse, and some hilarious outbursts.
