What Makes This Map Worthy of Being Made: Denmark is a small country but with so many islands its hard to conquer

History of Denmark (short version) Never any civil wars, occupied by Nazi Germany 1940-1945. Many wars with Sweden and Germany. From about year 960 it has been a kingdom, included Norway, Island and some of sweden untill 1848 where Denmark have been like it is today.

Im sure that Denmark would be a fun game, with so many territorys, borders and small islands it could be a long lasting and hard game for all.
The reason I like the idea that you can win by keeping all 5 cities with a shield is to make it harder to keep a bonus area and perhaps give players more inclined to attack each other. I'm not crazy with games that is over in 4-5 rounds, it's boring, I find it much more entertaining to play games that last long due to the tough obstacles, it is somewhat what I'm trying to find in the game Kingdom of Denmark.

[spoiler=Draft history]Denmark is geographically and strategically interesting and has many challenges as a map, in my first draft I had inserted some areas such as converting one's troops to neutral after 1 round, the idea was to make it difficult to take a bonus area, after many good advice I dropped the idea, the map can be difficult enough as it is.
I also had 2 areas that were not part of a bonus, I walked away from that idea because it made ​​no sense for the game.
The distribution of bonus troops are based on how many areas that adjacent to each other, ie how many places can be attacked from, and how many areas there are kept together.
so the map went from 67 areas to 60, and the size from 1400x1400 to 840x800 to 765x800 to 800x800 to 700x800
Legend had me realy thinking, my brain almost melted, thers so many ways to for it, but it had to match rest of map, the current version i like the most[/spoiler]

I'll admit, Denmark hasn't had a map of its own yet! That being said, I don't really get the "war between municipalities" vibe. But this is a step in the right direction! Always glad to see a new mapmaker. Stick with it!

well, the map is more devided in county as bonus areas. "war between municipalities" in Denmark we have so many political parties, ( about 13 ) always figthing for influence, maby I should have said, "it could be what this map is about", there is not realy a theme, just conquer Denmark

Your map image is way too large, there's no need for those dimensions with so few territories.

Your legend is also unnecessarily large. It's half the image and there isn't even so much information in it to justify the size.

I think you can well fit this map into the standard 800x800 size, or less.

Also, your borders look chopped and hasty... what software are you using?

Why do you include Flensburg and Malmo? They're not in Denmark.

The ferry and the train seem a bit superfluous. What is the point of having the two killer neutrals protecting that one inconsequential territory?

interesting concept... my main suggestions for changes are for the legend at the moment:

1) +1 auto deply when holding a city: most of your spots are cities... i am sure you mean only the ones that have a banner in it, but there is slight potential it MIGHT be confusing for people

2) i would change the text about flensburg and malmo to following: "Flensburg and Malmo: +1 autodeploy, not part of any bonus" (if you prefer the more text version, change "is" to "are" at least since its plural)

3) Capture all citys, include Flensburg and Malmo for one round to claim victory: Again the problem with citys... change to something like: "Victory: Hold all cities with banners, Flensburg and Malmo for one round!" ("citys" with "ie")

I am also not sure if like like those two neutral zones covering this one red area, but it seems this has already been adressed above.

This is looking really good. Please make a 840x800 draft when you get the chance. For what it's worth I agree with Tokie in that the train and ferry seem a bit extraneous. If you can find a way to keep them go ahead, but if not I really don't think you'll be losing much in terms of a gameplay addition.

Changes

1. Reduced map size to 800x800

2. Resized the text field

3. Removed the train + ferry, made the atack rute direct for Bornholm from only Sydsjælland and Malmø

Issuses im workin on:

Cleaning the borders.
text for the info bord.
color set.

After thinking carefully over all of your good and useful comments, I have made following changes:

1. Flensburg and Malmö are dropped, Denmark is already strategic difficult to move around in, so I can see that it does not need to be more difficult.

2. The boundaries have been drawn up and purified.

3. Text box was a bit confusing, I hope that it is better to understand now.

Things I need to do: Attack routes, troop placement areas, some effects around, so it's not as boring to watch.

The degradation is because you're saving as a low-quality JPEG. Try a PNG or high-quality JPEG instead.

Still, the degradation doesn't explain the pixelation on the borders. I don't know photoshop, but perhaps someone who does can tell you how to draw smooth borders with it...

First of all, what version of Photoshop? Secondly,what are you using to draw the outlines? To me it looks like you are using a pencil. Try using a brush instead to do the outlines. I like to use a 3px brush for the map outline and bonus borders, and a 2px brush for the territory borders. Iam using high-quality JEPG and it looks fine when called from my hard drive but from imageshack it looks reduced.

im using CS4 and yes i did use pencil 1pix but did a 0.4 blur at the end. im trying a brush as you recomend but 3pix seems heavy, du you reduce picture size at the end ?
