NFL Lockout ends

On the NFL Network now. The players are calling it a ploy by the owners for public relations. If you have access to the NFL network, I suggest you check it out, or head over to a sports forum.

I'm extremely excited. I had my first fantasy football draft last weekend. I knew everything would work out, but it's always nice to finally have football again!

Woo hoo! I'm going for a three-peat in my league. Also, I'm hoping the Lions can improve on their tied for last in division that they achieved last year.

If nothing else, thier D-line will be even better. Suh by himself is a freakin' beast. Now they added the Auburn guy, that interior will be making O-lines sweat all season.

How can you draft when there are 1000 spots still to fill on teams?

It's good to know the owners and players resolved this,

Yeah, it all seems a ploy so that if the players don't accept a favorable deal for the league, Goodell can say, "See? We let them come back into camp and they ruined the football season."

I'm sure you could buy a ticket to watch fans not watch football, if that's what you're into.
EDIT: Also, ads are free for the fans. There is no cost involved with fans watching advertisements. Fans get cheaper tickets due to television, which would not exist without massive advertising revenues. It's a free-market solution. Should the government interfere in this?

they're adding a review to every scoring play this year. i dunno if anyone has posted that fact previously anywhere, but yeah, that will only increase the commercials seen during a football game.

I think what the owners don't realize is that most professional sports franchises have low profit margins. It's more about the prestige and fame from owning a team. If you wanna put a winning team on the field, it takes a lot of money to attract the right personnel.

The NFL has escaped those minimal margins with profits measured in billions
and star players' salaries measured in millions. With their profit sharing even
the lesser franchises are in great shape. They have a fabulous product and
know it. All other professional sports --with the exception of soccer-- have a
lot of catching up to do.

It also helps when you have stadiums that fit over 70,000 and fans not bound by state lines.

Sounds like fun. Though, I think I've only played fantasy football twice in my life. I think one season years and years ago I had Chad Pennington as my QB. I don't think I did well that season, but I also assumed the management style of 'live and let live,' which means I made no changes to my starting line up since I didn't want to be bothered to actually do anything.
The second time I was 'managing' a team for a friend of mine who knew nothing about who to pick, so I advised her on some quality players.

Most of the owners don't even have to invest in the stadiums. Most of those stadiums are subsidized by the government with very little money put forward on the owners part.
