Fuzzy's Stroke Play Spectacular

This tourney is for premium players only.

FORE!

I have seen a number of golf style tournaments out there. Some with skins, some as match play, some stroke play. But I have not yet seen one with a true 4 rounds of play. This tourney is designed to bring you an exciting 4 rounds of golf-style, stroke-play, complete with a player cut after 2 days/rounds.

Be forewarned, there will be lots of games to play for people in this tourney. The eventual winner will play a minimum of 72 games.

I have designed a Par 71 course with 18 different maps, and this tourney is for 36 players, and up to 4 reserves. Players will be put into 4-player match-ups for each of the rounds. Initial match-ups will be be determined using random.org. I chose all the maps for the course then used random.org 18 times to provide the course layout.

Par 3's will be using smaller maps, Par 4's with mid-size, and par 5's with larger scale maps.

Each round players will play all 18 "holes". Therefore, you will be sent 18 games each round. Yes I know 18 games per round. Sounds like a lot. But for those of you who play multiple games, like I do, think of it as an opportunity to get to really see how some of your opponents handle the different maps by playing them multiple times. Remember though, it is only 4 rounds with a sudden death playoff if needed. The players who make it throgh to rounds 3 and 4 will end up playing a total of 72 or more games.

Since these will be 4 player games rather than 1 on 1 match-ups, scoring will vary depending on the Par of each hole, and is determined by your place of finish in the hole, rather than by number of rounds. 1st place wins the best score, while last place the lowest for each hole.
Par 3:
1st place -1
2nd place 0
3rd place 1 over (bogey)
4th place 2 over (double bogey)

Par 4:
1st place -2
2nd place -1
3rd place 0
4th place 1 over (bogey)

Par 5:
1st place -3
2nd place -1
3rd place 0
4th place 1 over (bogey)

Note on scoring: If any individual manages to eliminate all players in a single game, they will score an additional -1 on their score for the round, basically giving them a hole in one.

For those individuals that do not understand golf scoring; Holes in golf have what is called a Par. Par is how many "strokes" or "swings" it should take for you to get the hole from the tee off position and into the cup a certain amount of yards away. The objective is to get the lowest score possible, so a negative number is better than a positive number.
All games will be:
Standard
Automatic
Sequential
Escalating
Chained
Every 3rd hole foggy
The course is as follows, with the Par in parenthesis.

1. Feudal Epic (5)
2. England (4)
3. Luxembourg (3) (Fog)
4. Arctic (4)
5. Jamaica (4)
6. Discworld (4) (Fog)
7. Peloponnesian War (5)
8. Doodle Earth (3)
9. Europe (4) (Fog)
10. Portugal (3)
11. North America (4)
12. Madagascar (3) (Fog)
13. First Nations Americas (5)
14. Soviet Union (4)
15. Charleston (4) (Fog)
16. Circus Maximus (3)
17. Vancouver (4)
18. Age of Realms (5) (Fog)

It has been suggested that 3 of these holes may "go stale" during play and basically cause a stall in gameplay. If this happens during Round 1 of play, I may re-evaluate those holes and make some changes to speed things up.
Player matchups vary each round, but do not necessarily follow how players are paired in real golf games. This adds a definitive challenge to the overall tourney.
8 games of 4 player match-ups (random)

Initial match-ups
1. 16. traffic133
2. 6. blindman30
3. 26. Bruceswar
4. 7. kuma32478

5. 20. uk massive
6. 1. Aleksandr
7. 22. heatz
8. 5. Fuzzy316

9. 27. jasoncederblom
10. 11. callmecommander
11. 19. nicarus
12. 25. bmusic

13. 10. thechuck51
14. 18. whakamole
15. 30. Ninjai Jr
16. 15. Splatsmash

17. 9. dagdam0r
18. 32. Gen. Ramsarelli
19. 28. Risk_Averse
20. 23. evertonian

21. 14. Le HotSauce
22. 12. Evil Semp
23. 8. Marshallbobby
24. 3. darkbluesky

25. 2. spartacus65
26. 13. RRamsden
27. 24. dhud101
28. 17. jjmracing

29. 21. smegal69
30. 31. Ghost_Rider
31. 29. rmjw10
32. 4. Willo.Kings

You will play each map against the same 4 players for round 1. I will create all games for round 1 and send each foursomes invites out for each of the 18 games in a single mail. Each hole will have the hole number and a game assignment.

After all 18 holes are finshed for all players, Round 1 scores will be totaled.

End Round 1

8 games of 4 player match-ups. Player match-ups will be determined by scores. The 1st foursome will be the lowest par score, the 2nd foursome will be the next lowest, and so on. The 9th foursome will be those individuals with the highest par score. In cases of ties, those tied will have match-ups determined randomly between the tied players.

Again, each foursome will receive a mail with invites for 18 games on the 18 maps. Scoring remains the same. When all players have finished Round 2, total scores will be re-calculated.

End Round 2
At this point, eliminations will begin. For individuals who have an over par score, you will most likely be automatically eliminated. (Unless we have a majority of over par scores). There will also be players cut determined based on overall scores. Some individuals who have a negative par may be eliminated. There will be 16 or 20 individuals to continue to rounds 3 and 4. If multiple people would create more than 20, a tiebreaker game will be played to determine who moves forward.
Player match-ups will be:
1st foursome consists of top 2 and bottom 2 players, the 2nd foursome will be the next top 2 and bottom 2, and so on until we have our 4 or 5 foursomes. In cases of ties, those tied will have match-ups determined randomly between the tied players.

Once again, each foursome will receive a mail with invites for 18 games on the 18 maps. Scoring remains the same. When all players have finished Round 3, total scores will be re-calculated.

End Round 3

In round 4 the player match-ups will be determined by the top 4 or 5 leaders. For each of those leaders, they will then play the lowest scoring players. So the 1st place person will then play the lowest 3. The 2nd place person the next lowest, and so on. If the leaders are tied, then the match-ups will be determined randomly.

Scoring again remains the same. At the end of play, scores will be finalized.
The player with the lowest overall Par Score will then be declared the winner.
In the event players are tied after the final round of play, a sudden death match will be played between the tied players, on a random map from the 18 holes. In the unlikely chance of more than 8 players tie, there will be two multi-player games where the winners of those 2 games play in one final match.
One question winning on a par 5 is -3? or should it be -2. getting a hole one on a par 5 is impossible but getting a double eagle is like getting a hole in one on a par3/4. Just wondering if it was a typo or thats what you planned it to be. Either way still in please.

I have you in blindman30.

To answer your question. Yes I meant for the -3 on the par 5's out there. I realize that a hole in one on a par 5 is pretty impossible in real golf, but there have been double eagles on par 5's. Not very often, but it has happened. I just feel that the par 5 games should be the most challenging for players, and therefore the winner be rewarded with a very good score. There are also only 5 of them on the course, so it makes it extra challenging to those other holes to basically try to whollop the par 5 winners on those holes.

I am hoping to make it a challenging tourney, where ideally... there is not a runaway winner, but hey, ya just never know.
