Do you actually play your own turns?
How many people are left that play their own turns? With very little to no advice? Clan member or non?
I am not talking about chatting with team mates in a game.....teammates that are on the team, in the game, this clearly should be the norm.
But, what about waiting to take turns until people who aren't plying the game chime in on what you should do on your turn? Is it fair that in a trips game one could possibly be playing against 20 people instead of just the three or is this the intended purpose of an individual joining a clan?
I know it happens alot. I have asked advice from friends on maps that I am unfamiliar with many times over the last 4+ years. Sometimes when crucial turns come up, I will look for conformation on my thought from players I trust, yes. Lets be clear though, I take 99% of my turns all on my own (with team chat of course).

I"ve asked for advice for maps I don't know from 1 other person. Majority of the time however, I don't play said maps.
Also, I look at the chat closely only for very important games, and most of the time, I play my turns without the chat, or only glance at it and see if there's anything important my partner(s) did that I could use.

Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
Yeah, I would say the same as LMS and QOH. I do ask people's advice on various maps and on certain turns, but I would still say at least 99% of my turns I play on my own. Probably more like 99.9%.

Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
There are some games where I am strictly following orders from someone on my team. I have only once or twice asked for advice from someone in singles matches, and that may have been after the game was over anyway. I don't recall ever taking instructions from someone who wasn't actually my teammate. So yes, I do take my own turns, except when on vacation or having a baby.

.000001% of all turns are played by me, the rest are played by random people I find online..
Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
I have asked for general strategic advice in the past on a map I haven't played before or one I don't know well or will play a team game on a map I don't know with a clan mate. However I must say I have never asked specific advice on what to do on a game turn to anyone not in the game on my team. I prefer to make my own mistakes and live with the consequences. I personally learn better that way. I would not enjoy the game nearly as much if I was simply following orders on any game. I enjoy the strategic thought process way too much. That is what draws me.
I can understand why other people do and I have offered general advice to clan mates on games or maps before and likely will again but I still feel it is important for them to learn the map themselves and be able to figure out a good plan on their own.
I would have left the clan if they expected me to direct their turns or that I was supposed to take direction, that's not the reason I joined the clan nor why I play the game.
That's just me and I don't feel that others need to follow that plan. I think clans offer many things to many people and no clan fits all players. There is definitely a role for stronger players to help others on maps they don't know or for people to bounce idea's off. You are in a clan, you should use your resources as best you can.

I take all my turns, and do all my own stunts.
The turns I do not take are the ones responsible for my 95% turns taken percentage.
And the stunts that I do not do are responsible for my unfitness level.

Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
If you/I am not taking our own turns (save the team chat) the (99%) majority of the time...doesn't that make us multis, essentially?
Should this practice be against the rules? (understanding there is little to no way to enforce it other than logging, in open game chat, everyone's IP that has been in the game)

Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
I play my own turns or discuss in game chat from mates.
Now and then I'd it's particularly annoying map I might ask one person for general advice, but still end up playing them myself.
Never ask for help on 1 vs 1's. I'd rather be a major on my own then a general with step by step instructions each game. That takes the fun out of it.

Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
Since my kids hamster takes my turns i went 2 ranks up so was the best idea my daughter had
Here is a pic of her hamster taken while he was taking a turn in a hard game

Serious note : think 90 % or even more of the players here follow orders time to time , some do it by gamechat , some by "sitters -abuse " and some by mind melting
. Would this be being considered as being a world web multi ....depends how u look at it i guess

I take 98.999999 of tdans turns. I don't know who the heck takes the other 1% but it really pisses me off.
I also take turns for 23 other accounts.
oh. I also take my own.

I haven't taken my own turn in years, though I do dabble into tdans account from time to time (1%). It actually is a nice way to relieve stress, plus when I get bad dice, I have a scapegoat. I encougage others to do the same.

Yep. I almost always play my own turns...though I have no problem with the concept of my opposition's turns being played for them.
I'm still waiting to find a form of nefarious play I don't approve of.
Multism, farming, point dropping...adds spice to the game IMO. Every great culture needs a dark side.

I don't like it even though I do it. I think it's inherently dishonest. I realize that it will never fly but I thought I'd make a official suggestion. I know people argue against the notion of it being unfair but how can it not be? If I can get the top 20 ranked players to take my turns whatever the reason, it's unfair to my opponents who expected me to take the turns. It's really as simple as that. I was just taking my turn on the soap box and now I'll go back in the crowd.

Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
I don't think I've ever had an account sitter, so I always play my own turns.
When it comes to team games, I'm open to a lot of guidance/opinion/suggestion, but outside of Team Games, I'm just following my own instinct and intuition.

On some rare occasions, I take a peek at the strategy guide. Other than that, I plan my own strategy for all non-team gamed (unless I have no definite strategy present and a sitter is taking over for me).

What about garnering advice from players not in the game?

Same with me, I think there are less than a handful of games where I ever sought and took advice from someone not in a game I am playing.

I've asked danryan and MNDuke for some input on Feudal War dubs games on where to build the stack and what to expect. As far as a standard map, I think the last time I asked for input from somebody not in the game was beersurfer when I was a lieutenant with about 100 games played. In my opinion, if you can't play a game with your ideas or with input from your teammates, don't play the game.

This is my thought as well Fen. I just know it happens a lot (no concrete proof mind you all), especially in clan-world. Player limits and all that jazz really mean nothing when in effect, your whole clan is taking every turn in every game.
Whats the purpose of a clan war then? If the game is foggy then the only way is to log in as another player and look at the game...is this abuse?

Re: Do you actually play your own turns?
I was in a clan game where the other team had players taking their turns who weren't even in that clan. I brought up a small objection and was voted down even by my own team members. To have some fun I started posting that my turn was being taken by other players who were all ranked at the time in the top 5. Suddenly they didn't like that as much.
