Crazy Strategy

I have this insane strategy in a game in France. It's really late in the game and one of 4 players have been eliminated. I held on to a few weak countries and I saw no way to win so I tried a new strategy. I have Finistere, so kept reinforcing there and I now have 9 troops there and no one is taking notice as they are fighting each other. As soon as their fight gets closer, I'll attack with dozens of troops and take over.

Hehe, this can often be the best strategy when you're on the verge of getting trashed...

...somehow, I won a 8 player by doing that :D *blows trumpet*

Red will win that game easily. Your strategy wont get you the win here. He can fcous on blue first and due to his superior reinforcements he will outgun you in no time, even if you are not fighting a war and he is.

Try my strategy. Put your mouse over the Assault button, close your eyes, and keep clicking. This strategy works only about 33% of the time :D

Pretty good odds for a strategy like that! :D

Red seems to control about 60% of the board right now, and I've got up to 30 troops on Finistere. I also have a few other troops in the north, but they have been left alone since the war is in the south. This game is really long... it's only on round 11 but people are taking thier turns slow.

He also has 30% more troops than the two of you combined, and his bonus is larger than both of yours combined.

I don't think there's anything you can do, now.

If you attack him all-out now, he still wins.

And if you hold out, his bonus combined with current troop advantage will carry him.

You have no chance; it's too late.

I've always found that its best to have more troops than my enemies, then take them out. This usually wins for me.

I don't know...seems as if red will win this one...it will take some great dice for the OP or some horrible dice for red for the OP to win this one.

Not a bad strategy, but you gotta take advantage of those multitude of troops before the other player gets a huge advantage...otherwise it's too late.

This strategy is acceptable and quite good if you are all but down and out, i done it on a recent game on Luxembourg, in Game 8355154. I had something like 8 troops while the other two players had about 20 or so each, and on a small map that is quite a big advantage. However with the 'stacking strategy' and some very nice dice i am now in a position where winning is a certainty.

The same will happen here, red can wipe blue painlessly and easily, you are going to have to have very lucky dice here to take him out, and i think the longer you wait the worse it will get, as blue isn't able to do any significant damage to red which means every round his position on the map is strengthening (because of the higher bonus) if you just sit there.

Red will kill blue this turn or he's an idiot. Suppose he doesn't kill blue, you should do it, Cpt! Hopefully blue gets another card and red doesn't kill him. You kill blue, cash two sets if you're lucky and fight against red. And even then, you'll have to get lucky to survive.

First advice. Take cards its escalating after all! And try to eliminate blue and pick his cards if he has many!

when did sitting back, not playing overly aggressive and letting the game to you become a crazy strategy? sounds like it's a form of playing smart. But then again i seem to lose a lot of games to people who attack until they can't attack anymore.

I'm about to cash in spoils worth 20 troops, so next turn I'll have 52. Red only has 9 troops due, so it will take him awhile to build up a sizable force.

Take a look at his spoils. He can make a cashin as well. Really, there is no chance you win this unless red makes awful decisions.

You all were wrong! Red eliminated Blue and then I attacked, taking over. He only has a handful of troops in the South, plus a couple of regions in the north. If it werent for those stupid mountains I could have killed him then and there, but I have spoils coming up worth 30. This is my first win.

Nicely done Money. I've been watching the game and this is far from a crazy strategy. You pulled it off!

Nah.

If red has a set and you dont, you are done.
If red has a set and you do, he is still a fav.
If red doesnt have a set and you do, you are the fav.

All in all, the edge is for red.

He just cashed in a set last turn. He might even miss his turn; he missed his second turn at the beginning of the game. I control the board, and If I keep my current bonuses I get 50 troops next turn, plus the troops already on the board. The MAX he could get is 40. I dunno what you are thinking, but I will win this game in either the next turn or the turn after.
