All games in this tournament will be 1v1, Automatic, and Sequential. Please see below for further restrictions on maps/settings. Freemiums are welcome, but you must be able to keep up with the two-game-a-week pace.
Schedule: This tournament will follow the 2010-11 NCAA Division I hockey season. Teams will play approximately 35 games over the course of the regular season, followed by conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament, for those that qualify. Any game in the regular season that lasts longer than 12 rounds will be deemed a tie. EDIT: Wins are worth 2 points in the standings, ties are worth 1. Conference standings will use the format of the conference. For example, the CCHA uses a 3 point system, where wins are worth 3 points, shootout wins are worth 2 points, ties are worth 1 point, and losses are worth 0. In this case, the "shootout" would be all rounds past 12. I have thrown out all exhibition games with lower divisions - only games with other teams in Division I will be played. The schedule will approximately keep up with the actual calendar, meaning the first game will take place on October 2nd and the regular season will last until March 5th.
Post Season: All conference tournaments will be played in the same format as the regular season (except there are no ties), and the formats of the tournaments will be dependent on the conference. The NCAA tournament will have automatic entries for conference champions; at large bids will be determined by me. Teams will be seeded from 1 to 4 in each of 4 regions (16 total teams), and the format will be as follows:
Round 1: Best of three. There will be four 1v4 games and four 2v3 games. The #1 seeds will host all three games. The #2 seeds will host two games; the #3 seeds will host one. Round 2: Best of three. The higher seed will host two games, the lower seed will host one. Round 3 (Frozen Four): Best of five. Each team will host two games, with the tiebreaker coming on Random Map, Escalating, Chained, Sunny. Round 4 (Championship): Best of five. Each team will host two games, with the tiebreaker coming on Random Map, Escalating, Chained, Sunny.
Note: 12 round rule not in effect in the postseason.
Home Maps/Settings: Each team will be able to choose their own home map and settings. Due to the 12 round limit, the following restrictions will apply:
All home maps must have 50 or fewer total territories.
No adjacent reinforcements.
No nuclear spoils.
Please sign up with your preferred team (listed below), home map (allowable maps listed below), spoils (Escalating, Flat, or No Spoils), reinforcements (Unlimited or Chained), and fog (Foggy or Sunny).

Why would you not allow bigger maps--Many times there are ties in hockey. If you choose a bigger map you take the chance of getting in shoot outs that end in ties.
Thanks

I'm trying to avoid people picking big maps or the sole purpose of trying to get ties. Also, the smaller maps make it more accessible to freemiums, as they're less likely to get locked in a battle that wages on for over a week. There are plenty of tournaments that allow bigger maps; I chose not to.

Thanks,
Again, please read the rules. I'll reserve Alaska for you for 48 hours if you would like to sign up again, but New World is not in the list of allowed maps, and adjacent reinforcements are not permitted.
