Well it depends, do you meet our requirements to be a Jesus Freak?
1. Are you a Christian?
2. Do you believe that the Bible is the direct Word of God?
3. Do you currently have a rank of Private or higher?
4. Do you accept everything in the Apostles' Creed?

APOSTLES' CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

If so, please send me a pm then I'll grant you full access to the forums.

doesn't it go like this:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
I believe in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary,
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell, and On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

i was hoping that would be a satire, but unfortunately it wasnt. I learned that after reading the whole thing, which is hideously long, btw. my loss.

That is the older version, but still just as good.

Hello,

I would characterize myself as a born again Christian. I love to share my faith with others, but I'm not sure this is the best place to do it. But maybe that's not what your intentions are in this forum.

In my experience on this website so far, I've concluded that most people here are extremely anti-Christian. There are some who are open to finding out who Jesus was, but for the most part they have already made up their minds against him. Just check out some of the cynical posts within this forum itself. "Don't cast your pearls before swine".

So, I guess what I'm saying is that if you really want to share your faith on this site: 1. Be a good player who takes your turn on time and don't deadbeat. 2. Establish a good relationship with teammates in doubles & triples games. I think other people will be more open to what you have to say if you establish that first.

Will that win them over to the kingdom?....probably not. But I think rationale discourse with most people here is out of the question.

you say this with scorn towards the people who have already made up their minds about Jesus. well, sorry, scorn is probably too harsh, but you dont seem flexible as well, calling it THE kingdom, etc. i dont mean to characterize you negatively, but what I was saying with the "rational voice" quote was directly based off of what I saw on that forum. One thing i read went like this:
"does anyone here believe in evolution? i doubt it but just checking."
"of course not. i have not heard any convincing evidence from pro-evolution people and I wouldn't believe it if I did!"
... later on
"yeah its good to hear a rational voice in this forum"
i thought it was ridiculous.

I gotta agree with borat-einstein, there needs to be some balance. Otherwise you get too caught up with what you are talking about and assume it is flawlessly true. With an opposing voice you see what the reasoning is behind your thinking. That's the whole idea behind a two-party system - if it was absolute power to one party it would be a sausagefest of irrational decisions (mandatory abortions!)

Reasonable discussion?

Post by luns101 »

If there are people geniunely interested in knowing more about Jesus, I would welcome the discussion. If it is just going to be used to just be cynical, then forget it. That was my point.

If so...let me know. For me personally, I would enjoy using the private message feature on this site for discussions like that.

Because the first attempt at making the clan was a flop and I am trying (although not being very successful) at limiting my time at CC before it develops into an addiction.

Surely you xians are the ones who have incontrovertibly made up your minds? You, jay et al are not open to finding out about atheism because of your monopoly on the truth . I am not anti-xian, per se; i'm no more anti-xian than i am anti-muslim, anti-hindu, anti-scientologist, or anti-satanist. I am an atheist based on how things appear to me - i have never stopped questioning that, though. The thing about religious faith, as it appears on these boards, is that it is NEVER questioned. Have you ever stepped back and asked '"what if this is all make-believe?" - because i am pretty sure most atheists ask the same question in reverse from time to time.

What is irritating is when people start touting ideas ideas that are demonstrably nonsense, like creationism or the great climate change conspiracy. Why US xians in particular seem to hold those beliefs, i don't know...
