After President Obama's surprise visit to the White House briefing room Tuesday, press secretary Robert Gibbs took back the mic with a show-stealing joke at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's expense.
"I wrote a few things down," Gibbs began, showing reporters that he had some scrawled notes on his left palm - a clear reference to Palin's makeshift cheat-sheet at the National Tea Party Convention last weekend.
"I wrote eggs, milk, bread," Gibbs joked, adding that he crossed out "bread" and "wrote down hope and change in case I forgot."
In her speech to conservative activists in Nashville on Saturday, Palin was captured on camera with notes for her speech written on her hand, including the words "budget cuts" crossed out and replaced with "tax" cuts.

I still think it's funny and incredibly dumb of idiot Palin to write things on her hand. If she needed notes, just keep notes on a 3x5 card. But if she thought she could get away with no one noticing her scribbling on her hand like a bad cheater in high school, I fear for her ability to keep vital national secrets.

I still think it's pathetic and incredibly telling of idiot liberals to make a big deal out of palin writing shit on her hand. I'm sure this was or will be a hard-hitting bit on Meltdown w/Olberman.
I'm still failing to see the sexism. The grocery list was just a list of silly things that one should likely be able to remember. I feel like gender roles, though still not where they should be, are secure enough that we don't need to read way too much into Gibbs' poking fun at Palin.

Big deal? We're just making fun of her (like we don't have enough fodder already). Climategate = making a big deal out of nothing. Is the matter at hand really just the fact that conservatives don't have their priorities straight?

I think you meant: AGW = making a big deal out of nothing.
And tell me, oh wise one, what are your priorities?

It's probably inappropriate for the white house press secretary to say things like that....but I'm laughing my ass off at the entire situation, both palin and gibbs now. I'm curious though...is gibbs making fun of his own party in the quote above? He should have said "the list is donuts, bacon, hope and change....i think that would have been even better....
I think the point he's making is that the things Palin wrote down are things she should be able to remeber to talk about. So, if I go shopping, and I write a shopping list, I wouldn't put down "Eggs, milk, bread..." because that's a given. If I've run out of hot chocolate or lychees, I would write it down.
Then, going by my usual form I'll forget to take the shopping list. Maybe I should write it on my hand too.
Okay, I'll admit that it's pretty childish to make jokes about Palin having notes...but is it any more childish than laughing at Obama for using a teleprompter? In fact, wasn't that a big part of why Palin was being laughed at over this?

Her other hand said "Don't tell anyone that our 'Nukes' are just cardboard cutouts"

Unless she is a CC member, then it would say "Nukes also destroy all the armies on your own territory, so if you are planning to use them, on the turn before you should fort to another territory."

That's never bothered me about him. I sure as hell couldn't remember that many lies.
Wait...except when he gave a speech to a classroom full of kids and had the telepromters and podium set up. That was pretty ludicrous.
Also, adding to the "Sarah Palin's hypocrisy will destroy your brain if you think about it for more than six seconds" spiel - she continually attacks Obama for speaking from a teleprompter. I believe the clip the Daily Show shot was from the same Tea Party event. I don't know why, it's hard to fault a modern politician for not memorizing their speeches. It just makes Palin out to be a tremendous hypocrite for having to go to her hand to remember that energy is important.
Also, the whole crossing out budget cuts to replace that with tax cuts is huge, in my book. It really calls the whole question of whether the opposition has any sort of coherent budget in mind, or just continually promising us tax cuts without talking about all the awful things we're going to have to lose to keep cutting our taxes on the rich. It's a win-win! Cut taxes while keeping spending! That's totally going to work!
See, this is what I mean. Don't talk about how "the liberals" are such assholes that stoop to character attacks when there are a lot of conservatives that do the exact same stuff. If there are people out there that, when called upon to explain their opposition to Sarah Palin, cite the hand thing as one of their main points, they are morons to be ignored as well.
