The Liberal/Conservative Debate Thread
Ok, lets do this! We will debate common issues and see if we can get anyone to "change their views".
First topic: CONSERVATIVES, ARE THEY DUMB OR THE DUMBEST?
As a self-declared intelligent person, I am capable of determining who is smart and who is dumb. Conservatives are, in the overwhelming majority, very dumb.
This concludes the debate. I am glad you all agree with me. If you do not agree with me, then you are dumb.

I agree, but anyone who defines themselves as 'liberal' is also a narrowminded retard.

Re: The Liberal/Conservative Debate Thread
As a more intelligent person than pimpdave. As such, I deem liberals, on average, significantly less intelligent than conservatives. Note that the most intelligent liberals work in the college and university community, whereas the most intelligent conservatives own large companies. As the saying goes, those that can't do, teach. Thus, intelligent liberals can't do making them less intelligent than the conservatives by and large.

Corrupt and unintelligent are two different things.
You have a point about the President though. Everybody knows that you have to be really smart to be President..

That's a knock out point you got there Spurg

What the hell? Are you serious? Have you ever bothered to look at polling data, those with degrees (and especially those with more than 1 degree) tend to be leaning to the left. However I would never suggest that one side just because they were on that side were on average more intelligent then the other. The greatest reason why people support one side over the other depends upon their upbringing and who their family (esp. parents) support, so intelligence is not a great factor. Thats a truly awful statement.

I'm the son of big time Reagan supporters. It was the only reason they registered as Republicans, so they could vote for him in the primary.
But they also voted for Carter and they hated Nixon. Oh, and they both voted for Gore.

Re: The Liberal/Conservative Debate Thread
Its not upbringing per se its life experiences and who your influences are - my brother is a liberal who thinks Michael Moore is a hero. I had to censor him and his wife from reading the Barack Obama children's book to my kids - lol. I got their daughter a copy of 1984 and Atlas Shrugged for Christmas hehe its a running joke.
People with multiple degrees have more time to be indoctrinated by accademia. Degrees don't make you smarter than others.

Sigh... maybe if I were less serious most of the time my joking-type posts wouldn't elicit this type of response.
I have more than one degree by the way. So do most of the people I work with and most of them are more conservative than me.
Re: The Liberal/Conservative Debate Thread
I can't be bothered with that. If this site doesn't have spell check I am not going to look words up, when you can understand my meaning. Its a poor use of time.

Get Firefox.
Also, smart people are usually more selfish than dumb people. Just a trend I've noticed.

This perfectly exemplifies his point, I think. Pimpdave, you strike me as a rather case-by-case fellow...just like your upbringing.

When in a debate, "appearing intelligent" is never a poor use of your time.
Note the use of the word "appearing", as I recognize that spelling doesn't necessarily correlate to intelligence...the lack of spelling does, however, give the impression of a lack of intelligence, and that can damage your debate, unfortunately.

Pimpdave was brainwashed by his college professors. They tried to brainwash me as well, but I resisted due to my extremely high intelligence and ego.

And greekdog has been posing as a conservative to fit in at his job, but he must be careful what he pretends to be, as eventually we end up becoming it.

I'd like to go on the record and say that I knew greekdawg was kidding.
for some reason, whenever I write Greekdog I think of this. You should probably be honored.

You are correct I should be more careful.
I do find in a lot of cases pointing out someone's spelling errors or gramatical errors is a means to distract attention from the fact that the person pointing it out has no real means to refute the opponents ideas and needs to change the subject or ridicule the other person's intelligence in order to make themseleves feel better about their own inability to argue the matter sucessfully.

True. I just do it because I'm smarter than everyone else.
