1 of your 5 senses, which would you choose?
I'll put them in order of preference for me:
1. Sight (last sense I'd give up)
2. Hearing
3. Smell
4. Taste
5. Touch (the ability to feel would be the one I'd give up)

I would definitely give up smell, and maybe even hearing before having to lose my Vestibular System.

Smell and taste would be the first to be gone.
Yes, there are good things to be lost, but the pros outweigh the cons.

Temptation sucks. I'm an incredibly picky eater and losing taste and smell would only make things better.

Next to go would be touch. Yea, sex is gone...but so is pain, which would make me the most ultimate fighter in the world. (Though I would probably have a broken bone, not know about it and just die that way)
Then hearing. Not that there's much wrong with hearing, but the fdea of living in a world which I can't even see just scares the bejesus out of me.

People without touch usually don't live very long. There's a reason we have pain.

That being said it'd really suck to lose any of them.

Guys, giving up smell also gives up taste. Unless you're hoping that your tongue is suddenly going to go magicy and taste more than 5 things.

good one head banger.....made me really think ;o) I chose taste to give up....I value all the others too much.
As an aside, I just managed to whack over an inch of the 3 middle fingers of my right hand and amdealing with some touch issues.....I do not like it

Sight no question.
I love to eat and music is my passion. Jay I almost don't want to tell you because everyone picks on you but, if you think you could have sex with with a live woman lacking the sense of touch you're doing it wrong.
One of the problems for lepers is the loss of their sense of touch. Sometimes they break their fingers because they try to pick things up and can't feel how hard they're grabbing the object. If you are working a woman's tender bits like that I assure you you won't be invited for an return engagement. They want proper kisses too. Next time you have a conjugal with the wife just pile your face into her's and make like a horse picking up oats. Report back if you can get to internet where every you're at when she kicks you out of the house.

I just asked the wife and she said smell even though taste wouldn't function the same. It's also what really gets you ready to taste things.

Taste.
It was hard between smell and taste.
But at least you can smell bad food before you taste it. And you would not be tempted to eat shitty food anymore.
It is also the one sense you can lose without severely damaging your chances of survival in almost any given situation.

A pretty hefty portion actually. Without smell you wouldn't taste much of a difference between an apple or a pear or any number of things. The pleasure of eating food will go down tremendously if you lose your sense of smell because most things will taste about the same. There won't be any nuance.

Taking a break from the drama. This is for fun, hopefully it never happens. That being said, pretend smell and taste are separate entities. By the way if you lost your tongue, you could still smell and I don't think things would taste the same.
There is indeed a reason we have pain. There is also a reason we can see and hear, taste and smell.
Could not having the ability to see or hear kill you?....sure.
Besides, look at all the benefits:

Getting kicked in the groin.

If you get shot you could just stop the bleeding and go to the hospital. (and not have to lie on the ground waiting for an ambulance)

That's tough. I'm a "foodie", so it'd probably lead to my suicide if I lost the sense of taste, to be honest. And smell ties in directly with taste.
I suppose I'd pick hearing to lose first, if I had to pick one. I already know sign language, so I'm ahead of that game.
