Hey all, so we got a TV that has been having some issues
its a 45" samsung HD
so here is what happens, the TV works perfectly at first, i mean its flawless. Then after 30-40 mins, the screen goes black, but its not off. I can hear the sound, i can see the back light, and its clearly on. but nothing is on the screen, something is causing all the pixels to turn off all of a sudden. Now we called a tech guy to check out the problem for $30 and he said it was the DMD board failing, and he would replace it for $80, on top of the $200 for a new board. Now before i go and drop absurd amounts of money on it i wanted an opinion from any techies out there, do you really think its an issue with the DMD, and if so does it really need to be replaced? because until we hit the 30-40 min mark its perfect in performance. I personally think that something is overheating and causing the failure, which is why it takes time to fail instead of failing from the start.
additional info:
model #: HLP4674WX/XAA
DMD part #: BP94-02191A
thanks for any help

That's God telling you that you've sat in front the television FOR LONG ENOUGH, MISTER! NOW GET YOUR ASS OUTSIDE TO PLAY!
(Says the guy sitting in front of his computer most of the day...)

Did you buy this new, used, or was it something you found at the dump?

I recently replaced the DMD chip on my Samsung DLP TV. Not for the same issue you were having (Individual pixels on my screen were failing) But this thread might be on interest to you.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1107926With the info from that thread and 130 I was able to replace the part without any issues and now my TV is perfect again.
Anyways hope this helps.

Hit it. Seems to work for a lot of things.

There's also the often overlooked swearing at it option. If it doesn't work the first time try new and creative word combinations.

If a hammer doesn't fix it, then you clearly need a bigger hammer.
