Here is the map again after I outlined the boarders a bit. I threw in the negative of the map too, looked kinda neat. Let me know if anyone is interested in this map. I would like to continue but need some advice. Thanks

I think it would make a cool map. Are those real region borders you have already? they work okay, but there are a lot of very small areas that would need to be creatively combined. You would also need some water routes or something to get around that bottle neck area.
Do you know graphics at all? The best bet is to work out gameplay first. Make it solid. Then once you have a map outlined that looks fun to play, then the graphics can come.
Good Luck.

Yes these are the real borders, they might be off a bit but not a lot. There are all together 75 states (or provinces in Thailand right now). the city I live in is about to become its own province but its still 2 - 3 years down the road. So this is what Thailand looks like as of now.
I never thought of water routes, sounds fun, but I will have to make sure it can work as Thailand shares boarders with other countries in the north and central regions. Ill see what I can think of. Sound good tho. And what do you mean by "creatively combined"? like make them 1 province?
And no I do not know graphics at all really. I just was wanting this map to be done, it would be nice to have someone to help me out with this tho if you know of anyone. Thanks

Why don't you use temple sites instead of territories? Thailand is famous for its many amazing temples, and you can choose pretty much the number you want. Right now you'd have in once case to conquer 21 territories to have one region.

The image is too tall even for the large image. Maximum image size for large image is 840x800.

Yes, that would be a good idea, actually I am not planning on doing this map, it was more of a suggestion, hopefully someone else will make a go of it, I can help give input as I live here in Thailand tho. But I wouldn't be part in making the map itself as I have no clue how to do that stuff.

I think this quote proves my point as i said up above, but if someone is interested in this map, please feel free to take it over. I would love to play on a Thailand map.

Yes, you need to go in and do a little stretching and pulling to distort the image to something closer to a square than the tall vertical true to life version. It is perfectly OK if it is not in the exact correct shape. So long as it can still be identified as Thailand.

Same thing for those territs that are very small. You just stretch those areas out a bit.

Hey Pork, once again I am no longer planning on doing these maps, just suggesting things now, maybe if you and your buddy doing the Jamaica map have time you guys can pick up this one or one of my other suggestions if you were interested.

How about using this map to developing a fun game play? There's nothing like it in CC, I think..

That would be interesting, a map of all 5 countries, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Burma
You and Pork need to take this one up

Well it all depends on theme and gameplay. it would have to be really different from the Indochina map to be truly interesting.

Yeah thats true, but if you did what you said with the big temple sites (which you could look up online or I could look it up for you where the big temple sites are) it might be pretty interesting, actually there is big controversy right now in Thailand over a temple on the Thai / Cambodian boarder, they are both fighting over rights of the temple.
Maybe stick with the temple idea, i think that would be in a good direction, maybe if pork had time he could make up a better map

bet you guys are busy with your other map or maps tho.

[player]FarangDemon[/player] & myself have decided to take another go at this map. After being a part of the makings of Clandemonium (
viewtopic.php?f=64&t=105692) and also learning a lot more on CS2 PS i feel i can give graphics a go myself... we are working out game play VIA email and will shortly be posting an update...
We have decided to split some of the regions along with making a cut out of the BKK metro area. We will be including the HTMS Chakri Naruebet -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTMS_Chakri_Naruebet which will be our way around the bottle neck issue that was brought up when i first started this thread. We might also add some military bases along with a possible train station / or airports to jump from the southern, central / northern parts of Thailand.
Stay tuned for an update of the actual map.

Great start! and just a good idea. Thailand is such a weird shape, it's perfect for a CC map. Also I like the kids at the top.

why no territory names?

Not a huge fan of the LetterNumber scheme but I can live with it.
Gameplay wise, this map looks like a nightmare to play. There is very little by way of choke points and if I were to play it, I'd feel like I have no strategy other than chance. I'd say add some impassables and fudge some of the borders to make the Bangkok region more important... see the Mexico draft so see what I mean.
The ship... I think I like it. I'd rather see more reliance on the ship to round out gameplay rather than airports. Another possibility would be rail.
The names, South, North, South West ect. ought to go. Put something Thai in there.
The graphics are pretty clean though I think the land could afford some grunging up and I'm not a fan of the computer patten of the sea. I really don't like the clipart Thai kids as they're cheesy and lame. Put in some cultural landmarks or a Thai flag. I'd also like to see the rest of SE Asia in the map to sort of put the country into is geographical context.
Anyway, its a good start and I hope you guys see this one through.

Draft 2... sorry Farang holds a tight shift here, don't wanna know what happens when i miss deadlines...
natty_dread wrote:why no territory names?
wut? easy draft numbers natty. Names can come later, we have a Thai expert coming to help with that

Nightmare? We are working on putting in different bonuses and smaller regions with some splits going on. Also might put in some military posts like i said in first post (i thought i did anyways...) BKK will more then likely get its "important" spot, just waiting on the word from F.D
We were looking into a railway as well as some other surprises to spice this map up "thai style"... we just wanted to see how the map looked first and see what you all thought.
grunge style map? we will see, the color scheme might not stay, but wut did you just say about the cute little kids? oh hold on a sec i think i know...
The Bison King wrote:Great start! and just a good idea. Thailand is such a weird shape, it's perfect for a CC map. Also I like the kids at the top.
Oh wait a sec that was my home boy Bison King... shiiiiiii* you go to any hospital in Thailand or any nursery, Pre school - 6th grade and you will see those mofo "clip art" kids on the walls of every building you see... not clip art, those little itty babies represent the land of smiles. BUTTT maybe they will go....
I didn't really want to put all the bordering countries onto the map but this could change... see what happens..and i didn't want to put in too much stuff like flags and other things because i know natty would say something about it being a tour guide hand out or whatever you call those things
Thanks for the comments! keep em rolling in!
