Hmm, I think the entire east american bayou area could be underwater and be called Atlantis II.
I also think Amsterdam / Netherlands could be called El Dorado. Call Jota!

Levet wrote:Now that's a thought. It might be too much coding on the admin's parts, but if we could get it to start with 6 different spaces on the first square, and have the rest neutral, and not have anything able to attack square one, and win at square 100. It would be even awesomer to be able to fortify to an enemie's territory, like using your enemy as your weapon of mass destruction to clear your path.
I don't know if they'd be able to code it like that, but that would make the game a LOT more interesting.
This is totally do-able given the recent additions to the XMl options. You can code squares 2-100 as neutral to open, and you can code square 100 as the "objective."
XML tutorial wrote:Optionally, you can specify winning conditions for your map. An objective is a set of territories that when held will give the player an early victory. A map can have several objectives and a held objective ends the game in both Assassin and Terminator games. In the case of a Terminator game points would be earned from all opponents who haven't been terminated.
You'd have to make the opening attack one-way, i.e. square 2 can't attack any of the starting squares, or else everybody would just play for quick eliminations. In fact, you'd probably want to make ALL of the squares one-way attacks, because nobody ever goes backwards in the real game unless it's on a slide.

you couldn't split the first square into 6, but you can make 6 diffrent starting squares that can't attack each other and only attack space 2
100 is a little bit excessive, unless you do something like recieving an extrodinary amount for holding the starting square
ie turtle32 recieves 3 for have 1 territory
turtle32 recieve 10 for holding their starting territory...everyone would start with the same number and it would be a very intresting game
the one thing i have about this map is that you would not be able to eliminate another player from the game.
if you get the map worked out i would LOVE to work on the xml

san andreas isnt a real place. its a fault (why we have so many earthquakes) that runs the entire length of california. rockstar created an imaginary city that had imaginary parts of LA and SF mixed together even though theyre like 6 hours away from eachother...its based in reality but not real.
and i wont support a map about LA...not because it wouldnt be a good map, but just because i hate LA, the dodgers, and everything to do with southern california.
that being said, you'd have to think of an interesting way to implement the freeways. if the freeways were not some part of this map to make it different (ie not just borders) then theres really no point...LA is freeways.

Actually, johloh, it is too late. Gots me a job and everything. But I'll be back. It sucks being surrounded by both Dodgers fans and Angels fans. if one more person mentions Kirk Gibson...
And I wouldn't say that L.A. is freeways, I'd say L.A. is traffic. The freeways are just concentrated traffic, and thus they are concentrated L.A. And when you're in a car without A.C. on a freeway that isn't moving it's canned, frozen, concentrated L.A.
I'd like to play around with this idea, but I've got two other ideas I'd like to see realized first.

who ever does have a good idea, in xml there is a new bombardment code, which could be cool for this map, it lets you weaken territories but not conqueror them. Might be nice for a ladder or a chute

This was attempted months ago and abandoned because of copyright issues. Too bad, too, because the map looked great... largely in part because the Underground map looks so good to begin with.

I don't have the resources from my computer to draw or code anything, so I guess it's up for grabs. I don't mind, or care about credit, just as long as the map turns out good. If you need/want any more ideas or want to bounce some ideas off of me, you can pm me.
mappa mundi... ignore this post

Mappa Mundi
those of you out there who've studied some cartography may be familiar with mappae mundi, medieval european world maps which were meant to demonstrate the perfection of God's creation (earth) rather than actually help you figure out how to get anywhere. The T-O format in which I'm interested shows the earth as a big O with Asia at the top and water flowing into the Mediterranean from the great rivers, the Nile and the Danube, like a big T:
There are hundreds of variations and surviving examples, so it'd take some serious development time to come up with a good CC model. I have no idea yet what the territories or bonuses would look like, but it could include all sorts of good suff from early Christian dogma... Europe could be inhabited by the 15 tribes of the sons of Japheth, Paradise would site on top of the world, etc.
I'm just curious to see if there's any interest in such a project BEFORE i start (berlin, anyone?), and I want to make sure such a project wouldn't upset anybody's religious sensibilities (though I suspect that anybody who still adheres to 12th Century papal decrees probably isn't wasting their time at this site.)
here's a very busy example of an old mappa mundi, which obviously isn't in CC shape but it gives you an idea of what I'm thinking stylistically...
