Gosh, sansa's life is such a long listing of misery.

By the way... no sign of bran or rickion in this season 5... I think we haven't seen rickion in almost all season 4. I used to like bran's character, I hope he shows up this season.

And John Snow going to see the wildlings on his own, this sounds like an awfully stupid move. Don't think they will forgive him. But maybe the others will already be there...

According to the books, all of Bran's happenings of last season should've happened this season so I've got absolutely no idea what they're going do with him this season. As for Rickon there were hints in the last book that he would appear at some point, though it's hard to say especially considering the show doesn't follow the books as strictly anymore and the show moves at a much speedier pace.

So yeah I'm at the tip of my chair for Rickon Stark. The only reason the Bolton's hold influence over the north is because they hold Sansa hostage and there is no male Stark to contest her authority to the north. It goes without saying that if Rickon were to suddenly show up it would mean a major shift in Westeros politics.

well to be fair... the targaryens don't need a male to perpetrate their lineage. Stannis is a smart man, if John Snow isn't taking the position, I see no reason not to give it to Sansa.

i guess that the next time we see Rickion he'll be all grown up.
I still think it's pretty shitty to see how characters such as Tommen or Rickion are so undepicted....
Like I was wondering a couple of episodes ago, when Rickion talks about Jeoffrey... What the hell was their relationship? We never got a glimpse of that. While Jeoffrey was a first class Justin Bieber, how was he with his younger brother and sister? Is there anything about that in the books?

Nothing in the books about their relationships. The books explain the differences in personality and the fact that the sister was sent off to Dorne.
What is extensively depicted in the books is what happens to Tommen in King's Landing after Jeoffrey's death.

Bran won't be showing up this season, that was already announced a while ago. Bran's story arc is finished for the moment as far as the show goes. Hodor won't be seen either, BTW. Next season I figure they'll pick back up on Bran's story arc. As for Rickion, I don't know, maybe we'll see him, maybe not, even book readers don't know exactly where Rickion and Osha are at the moment but there are clues and rumor. I doubt we'll be seeing Rickion in the show this season, but then again, we might. We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

Still a week behind. When did the unsullied forget how to fight?

Also did they fucking kill off Selmy? I can deal with the changes if they are good plot points and I guess I wont completely write this one off as bad but f*ck. I liked Selmy.

I don't understand why the hell they are walking through narrow alleys and into buildings with spears. They are so hard to manoeuvre in small spaces.

the unsullied were only delivered with spears and shields, Dae never ordered 8000 swords to the damn blacksmith. Of course the spartans had a shield, a spear AND a sword. They also had testies.

Even considering the spears. They broke rank and let the enemy get into their center very quickly. They werent fighting as a unit, they were fighting as individuals.

I think of the unsullied getting beaten up more as a Dany failure than an unsullied one.

Stick them out in formation and attack and defend, great successes. Let them throw up a Phalanx and GG bad guys.

Make them fight in confined spaces against an enemy who is better equipped and knows the area better? Not sure what you are expecting to happen.

Other than having weapons slightly better suited for the environment, were they better equipped? I didn't notice any armor except for the face plates and the unsullied did have shields. I am not saying that the Unsullied necessarily should have won the fight but other than Grey Worm, they got their butts handed to them.

I think you would rather have a sword over a spear if you are fighting in close quarters out of a formation. Honestly that is probably just enough, along with the element of surprise. They had already kind of funneled them into an area where the unsullied were cut off.

Haha, the Unsullied didn't get their ass kicked because of tactics or inadequate weapons, but because the writers needed them to get beat down to further the plot. No need to look any further than that, IMO. Standard trope.

For who was asking about the doll that gave Shireen greyscales, Stannis said he bought it from a Dornish trader, who had already sown the colors of House Baratheon onto the doll. It sounded suspicious to me when I heard it too.

I'm sure there's someone behind this. It would so, un-GOT like if it just happened by accident. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Melissandre herself.
By the way... which house is stannis's wife from? don't even remember her name. She's pretty much a worthless piece of shit, and not even politically important. He should just burn her and marry Melissandre to be even more her puppet.

Stannis' wife is from the House Florent. She's not politically important anymore since the battle of the Blackwater. More than half of Stannis' army at that time were from the House of Florent, so at that time she was pretty important. After the battle, the Florent troops were pretty much massacred to the man and all the Florent's holding were given to the Tyrells. The House of Florent is for the most part non-existent now but until then they were one of the most powerful Houses in the Reach.

And yeah, how she treats her daughter makes her a POS.

On an aside, the interaction between Stannis and his daughter Shireen a few episodes back shows that Stannis even though he's a dick is also a pretty good guy. He loves his daughter despite her condition. I liked that particular scene in a thus far disappointing season.

Stannis was pretty much a dislikeable dick for quite a few seasons ago, but I think for most people only watching the show like myself (I'm kind of reading book 4 but at a snail pace as it's probably the worse book) he's growing to be a much more likeable person once you understand better his personality. I remember having some conversations in this same thread where I was pretty surprised to see book readers defending him. He was clearly depicted as the bad guy in the renly/stannis conflict.

Stannis is probably one of the best written characters in the books. John Snow, Arya Stark, Cersei Lannister, etc. are great, but they're too one-sided.

I wonder what will happen once Daeneris arrives in Westeros. Will lady Melissandre side with her and betray Stannis? When Tyrion was in Volantis he overheard one of those priestesses make a speech on how Daeneris was so special.
Not to mention fire is holy for the lord of light religion and Daeneris is a Targaryen with 3 fire-breathing dragons. The only reason Melissandre follows Stannis is probably his Targaryen ancestry.

Huh? Targaryen ancestry for stannis??? Who was their mother?

Also maybe she tried to get fucked by john snow because he is obviously half targaryen by his real father?

According to the books, a very long time ago there was a marriage between a Targaryen King(I think the first) and a Baratheon girl. Though it rests to wonder how much of that Targaryen blood still remains.

All three of the Baratheon brothers were at least 1/8th Targaryen. It was why Robert Baratheon was chosen for the iron throne over Eddard Stark or Jon Arryn to begin with. That and Ned probably didnt even want to be king. It happened a few generations back where (I think) a lesser daughter was given to the Baratheons in a diplomatic gesture.

As far as why Mellisandre chooses Stannis. She believes him to be the reincarnation of Azor Ahia a central hero in her religion whose return means the end of darkness and ice or something to that effect. He wields the fire sword Lightbringer. Mellisandre honestly believes that Stannis is Azor Ahai .
