Thanks, pamoa, but I meant the last couple of games that ended, it was at 4 active a week or so ago, and I'm wondering about those 2 games that finished between now and then.

paul. it is awaiting completion of the current games and then a new map will replace it that is more balanced for play. This was a good experiment in what Not-to-do :)

If all you are waiting on is those last two games to end, why not just have admin cancel them? They are on a "broken" map after all. And I am sure none of the participants would mind... 8-[

Let me say, for the umpteenth time, I would be 100% thrilled if all of a sudden my das schloss game vanished as if it had never existed.

I'm not going to *throw* the game. Besides, I deserve those points as much as the next guy.

OK, then but i think that asking me to have admin "disappear the game" is just the same thing as throwing it.
So play on, and see who wins. :)

It's not even so much the points (altho that's a consideration), I just don't want to giftwrap a win for someone else.... this is why I hate long build games, the end is always so unsatisfactory because it almost never has anything to do with strategy, but rather people getting sick of the game and just wanting the bloody thing to freakin' end already.

2008-12-22 23:25:22 - Incandenza: you know what would really kick these last few games in the ass? tweaking the xml so the anti-aircraft can bombard the "named" starting points

I reckon it's a winner - it would help sort the games out a bit - and change the tactics too.

Lack just may end up removing the games manually that are currently left....but unsure when, if at all.

Yes well....
I am watching the remaining 2 games. Altering the xml is a thought, but that would be unfair i think to every other player who has played this map.
I think that current players should be given a "hurry-up" to end the game - from Andy and lackattack.

Heh. Considering that the idea was first floated months and months ago, I'm not exactly holding my breath...

Look, I can't imagine that anyone still involved in these games would be opposed to their removal. But to say "c'mon, hurry up and finish" dreadfully misses the point. We can get all the "hurry up" messages in the world, there's no way to enforce it save for extreme measures (like turning both games into speed games, not even sure that's possible, and of course it'd be heinously unfair).

The thing is I'm not going to be goaded into doing something retarded just to bring the game closer to an end (of course, I may yet do something retarded with that very aim, but it'll be on my terms and my schedule).

Altering can't be that unfair, after all:

Warning: Maps designated as "Beta" might have unbalanced gameplay and undergo changes mid-game. Play at your own risk!

And as Incandenza said, I don't see how play can be "hurried." Especially after this comment:

2009-03-25 14:41:52 - qwert: sorry guys, but i want to see these game in TOP 20 LONGEST GAME

Hey Gozar. Good argument.
But wouldn't altering the xml still be hurrying the game along, so it seems that it works both ways being "hurried".
I was however unaware that Qwert (heaven forbid that he would do such a thing) was pushing for a record. That's qwert's goal. Not mine. So I have made the decision that the xml will be altered.

Any idea how this can be done to "hurry" things along?

Do you think that needs to happen as well as something else perhaps?
