OK that says that there's a God. I guess I would have to admit that it's stupid to think that this all just magically appeared. But do you believe that the God who created the world and the universe is the Christian God?
Oh to answer your question, yes I see design. I just don't know who did the designing.
Mr_Adams wrote:YES. many things taught by the bible are beyond human understanding. God is a perfect being, and he has a higher way of thinking.
Granted if that's what you want to believe but it seems a convenient way of not answering tough questions.

Oh I see, "I can't logically explain it to you, or rationally explain this perverse way of thinking, so I will shy away from your criticism by shrieking
you just don't understand it's mystical".
Why are you so willing to buy into a line of thinking that you openly admit you can't physically understand on the level that it's meant to be understood? Why blindly accept it when you can't come up with a logical defence for it? If it's the best way of thinking for a 'higher intelligence' then surely it'd have at something going for it in our limited sphere of understanding?
Isn't it far more likely that instead of this wacky notion being 'rational on a higher level'... it is in fact just silly, and your unprovable and unevidenced appeal to a possible 'higher way of thinking' is just you fishing for a get-out?

Oh come off it...
Why does anybody with intelligence have to see design? Prove it, don't just try to foce me to concede the point by calling me an idiot if I refuse to accept it without evidence.
Now don't get me wrong, I see all manner of things on this Earth Blitz, but I don't see any evidence that they were intentionally crafted; no makers-mark, no uniformity, no purpose... Come on, if it's so self-evident that everything around me was created by a designer then go ahead and show me why that is; but don't just patronise me and tell me I must be missing something if I don't automatically accept your proposition.

That quote refers to a specific question. It says absolutly nothing about the provible AND logicly concievable parts of the bible.

No, I don't expect you to just say it. In fact, love is never something you say, it's something you do. It's an action, not an emotion. With that definition, I can't expect anyone to love anyone else that they have no relationship with. If you had met any of them, and were a Christian then I would expect you to treat them with kindness, respect and dignity.
The supernatural power to love the "unlovable" isn't mystical, it's something that occurs with a lot of work after salvation. So step one, confess your sin, repent and accept the substitutionary death or Christ as payment. If you already have a relationship with Christ, I would recommend meditating on how God loved you in your sin, the scope of the love of Christ, and praying hard and often for God to give you the love you need.

This coupled with the worlds definition of the word love that everyone will plug into this conversation... won't make sense to most, don't you think?

What qualifies as sin though? In case you missed the other threads here we're talking about how morality changes because culture changes. Napoleon made me think about this I'll admit because we can't have a society where everyone just keeps changing the rules to fit whatever they want. But I also think we need to look at certain laws to see if they work for today. I'm guessing you're gonna say that sin is always sin no matter what but I'll wait for your actual response.
Right is right and wrong is wrong and never the 2 shall meet!!

As long as we are addressing everyone from the pedestal, here is my message, and KNOW that this is addressed to everyone.
Aliens, Bigfoot, Chupacabra, Demons, Elves, Satans, Leprechauns and super natural gods were created by men to explain away fear and the unknown.
You are continuing our primitive lineage by believing in these superstitions instead of allowing man to evolve.
Please stop breeding.

Jesus Freaks,
Are any of you familiar with the concept of the rapture? I have finished the books of John and Romans now. The old testament got kind of boring so I'm taking a break from that. Now I'm reading Thessalonians and when I got to chapter 5 I was obviously a bit confused. After talking to some Christians that I work with they explained that there's a prophecy about when God will finally deal with the entire world's wickedness. It's supposed to last for 7 years and it will begin with something called "rapture". I guess all the true believers in Christ will disappear and go to heaven while the earth goes through 7 years of hell so to speak.
Do any of you believe in this prophecy?

There are many different beliefs on the "rapture"
I for one, don't know if it is true, or a scare tactic....
There is no word Rapture in the bible.
Christ did however say he would be back, 2 more times.
once he said he would put his foot on the mount of olives.
second he said he would come in the clouds.
Maybe he will come in the clouds, and then put his foot on the mount.
I don't know. I learned about the rapture at a church I was going to one time, but the more I have studied with other churches the more confusing it became, because of the different beliefs. I just decided, that yes, Christ will be there when I die. and if there is a rapture, I will be taken up. Because I believe that Christ died for my sins, and I repent, and I can't wait to move on to my next life. I don't believe the spirit dies. just the body.

Yes I do. For more information on this subject, go to your public library and get the book "Left Behind". while it is a bit extreme, and maybe even exaderated at times, it is accurate.

Well, some denominations believe this, but not many do. I for one, as a Catholic, do not. And yes, I have looked into it, but do not believe in it.
This site should explain in full the Catholic take on the rapture much better then I can.
I am in the Jesus Freaks Clan, just that I thought everyone else was doing a fine job so far.

Nobody better respond to this with a comment like "If your so anxious to get to heaven, why don't you end your life now?"
those comment irritate me.

Why would I end my life, when I love life...
I want to live forever. I just know there is a better place as promised to me.
I believe I have a inheritance when I die.

Why... You aren't afraid...right? You are 100% sure and have it all figured out in your tiny little mind...right?
But yeah...you better wait here in the awful place we call earth.
It cracks me up that Muslims are mocked for their 29 virgins...but fluffy white clouds and sky-daddy is perfectly reasonable.

I'm surely not afraid, and I pity you backglass, because you don't know what it is like to have faith, and a relationship with god. only because you choose to believe that believing insults your mighty intelligence.

No my friend. I pity you for not knowing what it's like to live your life with your eyes open. You are living your life for fairy tales, superstition and your hollywood dreamland afterlife. I life my life everyday and love every minute of it with family, friends and my kids. I don't delude myself that everything keeps going on after we all die. I really don't blame you. You have been taught this since you were born...you really never had a chance.
Don't forget to knock on wood and throw a little salt over your shoulder. After all, the demons live inside the wood. Break any mirrors lately? 7 years bad luck for you buddy. Watch out for that ladder....and those crack in the sidewalk while you are at it.

If I am living in a fairy tale, well it's dango nice here, and I will choose to stay. I believe in Christ as my savior, and I have evidence in my own life to have reason to believe. I wasn't always a believer... I chose to investigate and pray, and I saw results. That's why I believe. I see all the places that were mentioned in the bible from 2 thousand years ago, money mentioned, tombs, kings. Christ was here. He lived, he died and he Reigns.

I congratulate you both for sticking up for what you believe. I, myself, used to be rather religious. Now, I just consider myself spiritual. Is there one all-knowing, all-seeing individual that created us all? I don't know.

Just last week I watched the DVD of "Left Behind". In the movie the rapture occurred and it began the 7 years of of "hell on earth". The movie was actually very entertaining.

Me too! I'm not stupid.

Beastly wrote:I believe in Christ as my savior, and I have evidence in my own life to have reason to believe.
Of course you do. Grilled cheese? TV preacher cured your cancer? I am sure it was an unexplainable miracle. It could ONLY be an invisible, never before seen supernatural winged serpent. No other explanation will do...right?

Yup. Fully deluded. RA the Sun God "Reigned" over an entire civilization. They could even SEE him every day! Yet...that religion died out. Why? Because it was based on superstition, fear and human wanting for eternal life.
You were weak, most likely in pain...and needed something to explain the agony and ugliness in your life. I guess you found it. Congrats on turning your life around and/or getting out of the hole you were in, but it was YOU and your MIND...not a supernatural magic winged creature from the sky.

I didn't say you were stupid??? I said I pity you...
Having Pity on you, should not insult you unless you feel there is a reason for that pity. I pity that you live your life with no spirituality...No matter what differences there are with different beliefs, We all... Got that there is something bigger than us! If you don't believe there is nothing more powerful than you, then you are a AntiChrist. And you will never have what I got. And you don't even know what that is, because you choose not to seek out what you believe.
I also lived a Godless life as a unbeliever, and Now I believe, I can tell my life is more enriched, blessed and I am not worrying about if there is a god or whatever you want to call it..
I do indeed believe in Miracles.....
I believe that God intercedes on our behalf. I don't know how it works, but most people that have miracles asked for them. Knowing that God wants them healed. God, doesn't want his love ones to Lack for any good thing. He wants us to relieve all! Death is for everyone!!!!!!
If we lived without sin, we would never die. What causes that Cancer, what causes the diseases.
And don't tell me God created sickness and disease, because you can't back it up and prove it to me, and your the type that has to have evidence, and you cannot possible prove that statement.
As far a "supernatural winged serpent." have you ever read and studied the orininal writings of what you speak? Hebrew? Greek? Who wrote that in the bible??? what language was that? And what did it really say? The example is good enough, why would I base my faith on 1 word? Like a supernatural winged serpent. I have never even seen that before, where did you see that word?
You see, you are full of ignorance, and that's not a flame, IF you are not a studier of something you don't believe in, then you are ignorant in that subject. Not that your stupid... Just you haven't studied what you are so against.
I pity you!
