The map is strategically identical. You're just used to the look. You've gotta see it for its Matrix-esque codeified beauty.

My brain cannot handle a book without pictures. I need something to assault...
Perhaps something more biologically oriented?

The "zone" names remind me of Legends of the Hidden Temple from when Nickelodeon ruled the planet. Orange Octagons, Orange Iguanas. Something clicked there, I've been reading way too much of this thread (ie; all of it).
And I don't think we should be "assaulting" anything either. The people at American Gladiators are already getting pissed.

Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys were all 10x better than the Iguanas

Pretend your troops are standing on mysterious obelisks with an eerie colored (or coloured) glow, floating magically out in a void, connected by narrow bridges. You must assault the enemy over this tenuous battleground, which explains why only 3 of your troops may attack at once.

I....I think I might have to read that again. Did you just explain the origins of man?!
Hmm. No. You explained....erm... intensity cubes? My green number blocks are better than yours!

I'm saying that if you need to imagine a physical battleground instead of an abstract chart of numbers, you can imagine this:
Your troops are standing on mysterious obelisks with an eerie colored (or coloured) glow, floating magically out in a void, connected by narrow bridges. You must assault the enemy over this tenuous battleground, which explains why only 3 of your troops may attack at once.
That's all. Just trying to be helpful.

i've written a total of maybe 5 negative sentences to EVER about lack and/or twill.......so i am not a CC critic, i love this place.
but i agree 100% with jiminski and incandenza, Team CC has completely screwed the pooch here. in all honesty, you deserve to lose your business for the way you've handled this. it's just shockingly bad. i'm not leaving cause i love to play and i have many friends here, but you guys are fucking idiots. find a buyer who can make something out of this website, we all deserve the best. lack and twill, on the other hand, need to start flipping patties or pouring drinks, work your way back up from there.....seriously, you do pretty much zero work around here except coordinating all your volunteers, then don't inform them (rjbeals) when the shit is about to hit the fan......WTF......
*edit*---btw i would strangle wicked and facer with their own intestines right now if i could
Letter to twill and war with Hasbro

This is my letter to twill: I want a joint action against Hasbro (if rumours are correct) but someone has to organise it, at least letters to Hasbro and their subsiduary of Avalon Hill...
----------------
Hi, the way crisis with classics and Middle Earth map handled is counerproductive. The thread contains 68 pages but no official announcement. At least, you should make an official announcement of what and wy this is happened. Dont keep people in the dark, unless you want to lose them.
As far as rumours about copyright thread is concerned, the best way is to organize and carry out some community action. I am not buying any products of Hasbro or their subsiduaries until the crisis is resolved. Given the amount of keen wargamers on this site, I dont think Hasbro will be able to withstand such consumer pressure.
thanks,
k

I have to agree with Neph, the amateur way that this has been handled is staggering.
In the long term I sure that this site will prosper but it wont be the same and its not my cup of tea anymore so goodbye folks and thanks for the fun.

Would it be too much to ask for an explaination directly from CC itself?
If these rediculous changes are permanent, I have no interest in renewing my membership. I'd imagine that's probably the case for atleast half of the premium members on here not to mention how unappealing this site will look to prospective members.
I don't think you can copyright geography or political region names such as "Ontario".. The only thing that I can imagine would be grounds for copyright infringement would be the Risk-like gameplay (Dice structure, Bonuses, ect.) So from what I can see, they've changed all the wrong aspects of the game.
I understand these changes were made under pressure of legal and time constraints but I think my 4 year old cousin would have handled the situation better. I think the tens of thousands of devoted CC patrons deserves at the very least to be kept in the loop?

Surely someone cannot place a copyright upon a map of the world?
Perhaps if they changed the shapes of the borders and the country names they can convert back to the normal map.

I'll agree with you that assault is probably not the best verbiage at this point but what I crafted was a reference. Perhaps over in S & B, someone can create a thread to generate ideas about terminology.
Here's a great reference site.
