BTW flex, I love your most recent article about the Longhorns upset - very funny!

Will you be doing any other tournaments after this season of College hoops is over?

Very well run tourney and I hope for an at large bid with a respectable 18 win season. Our Big Sky tourney was marred by the ridiculous Battle of Iraq with a no spoil setting that puts an overwhelming advantage on going 1st. Montana doesn't deserve to go out that way as it represented 2 of my losses and we fared well vs. top twenty opponents. We guarantee a fine effort if invited to the dance. well done regardless and let me know if you run something similar again

brackets are updated as of Thursday night...we have our first title game set between #1 San Francisco and #2 Weber State in the Big Sky Conference where everything went pretty much to plan through the bracket. Good luck to both teams.

The Pittsburgh Panthers, regular season champions of the big East conference, are on the verge of being eliminated in the second round of the conference tournament, completing an and of season swoon that saw them lose 3 of their last 4.

The Panthers respectfully hope that the committee will give them with a high seeding, recognizing their solid performance throughout the season and also in recognition of the fact that for those last 4 games, they had suspended their star point guard, I. Likem Young, for some unidentified on-campus transgressions involving alcohol, a stolen boom box, and some underage girls.

The Pittsburgh Athletic Director recently came to his senses and, in true big school style, has reinstated Mr. Young, observing that these minor infractions should not interfere with Mr. Young's opportunity to enjoy the entire experience of being a big-time college hoops star.

Is it true that new Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin crossed over lines and reported these violations in another sport and another league?

I hate to say it, but could Al Davis have been right about that guy?
Wait, strike that from the record :-$

I'll just say Al Davis and Lane Kiffin are both idiots

Look for updated brackets and a new edition of the newsletter coming out late Saturday night. Most tourneys are into the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, so Selection Day is fast approaching.
All available games are being sent out on a daily basis, so that is always up to speed.

Here's hoping those last two regular season games finish over the weekend because the MAC and CUSA tourneys are falling way behind at this point.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

The final regular season standings are now uploaded, and the MAC and CUSA/Valley tourneys are now underway.

Also, congrats to Weber State on being the first team to nail down a spot in the Big Dance by winning the Big Sky tourney out of the second-place spot. =D>

UPSET Streak still Alive - Horns defeat Huskers!!!

http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=4257805

The Longhorns use great defense to continue their roll in the Big 12 tourney. Texas defeated Nebraska with a 1st round defensive stand that kept the Huskers from getting a card. The Texas coach was well prepared for the Nebraska home court recently playing 6 warm up matches on Arms Race before the tourney game. Coach stated the reason for this preparation was the backlash of bad publicity he recently received from commish Flex after his upset of conference to seed K-State. The Longhorn AD has gotten over his initial disappointment with the report stating "Coach Cazmart has showed his excellent ability 2 years in a row in preparing his team for the big games. I was initially stunned with report of his lack of preparation this season but am understanding as I too have had a pregnant wife to answer to. It is now time for me to show my support for Coach and the program by stating this team has won 6 in a row and reached the Big 12 title game. Even if they fall short with a loss in the championship they deserve a birth in the field of 65. There are a lot of good teams out there and I believe none of them really want to play this team at this time of the year!"

This is unrelated to College Hoops, but I was looking for another tournament and found 2 separate NHL Leagues.

In one of these leagues, doochbagbill (Rhode Island) had taken my beloved New Jersey Devils.

In the other, plash.ricrem (Vermont) had taken the Devils!

What are the chances that the two A10 teams who'd decidedly handed me my ass this season both took my favorite NHL team in separate leagues???

:)

For those of you who aren't aware, there is a CC user group for sports talk. It's called the Sports Bar. We would love to have a few more active members, and I'd love to not be the only girl. :) There are discussions about current sports topics. Also, you can make announcements about new sports tourneys that are recruiting players. This isn't a competitive group, so you can join even if you're in a clan.

Sorry for spamming the thread. We've had some great conversation surrounding this tourney, and I wanted everyone to have an option to continue it afterward.

Best,
Laci

It's not my fault you have good taste in hockey teams Limbo... :) And If it makes you feel any better I'm trying my best to duplicate the Devils dominance this year. In the meantime coach Ricrem is burning the midnight oil with his assistant coaches going over game film in advance of tomorrow's heated A10 semifinal matchup at the dreaded Fedual War Arena against Umass.

check out the latest newsletter.

Also, I thought it only fair now that the regular season is finished to go back and see how my predictions played out...not so well :(

Big East...I picked Cincy who finished 3rd...2 games out...not bad
ACC...I went with Duke who finished 5th...3 games out...ughh
Big 10...I chose Purdue, who finished 7th, but my darkhorse Michigan St. won it.
Big 12...I went with Iowa State who finished 3rd...not bad
Pac 10...I chose USC who finished 3rd, but just one game out of first...pretty good
SEC...I went with Auburn, who finished 3rd, but my darkhorse Kentucky won the East
BigSky...I said Weber State, who took second, but won the conference tourney.
WAC...My worst guess. I went with Fresno State which ended up 9th.
CUSA...I went with Tulane, who finished in the middle of the pack at 4th.
A10...I said Rhode Island who went 24-6 for my only correct guess.
MAC...I said Eastern Michigan, who faded late and took 3rd. Darkhorse Bowling Green won the league though.

There it is folks, throw the rotten tomatoes my way :)

Plash Ricrem sits at the podium with a somewhat dejected look on his face following his team's hard fought 16 round loss in the A10 semifinals @ Umass' Fedual War Arena (4277030)

"I'm afraid I don't have too much to say about tonight's game. I'm certainly depressed my squad wasn't able to pull out the upset and advance to the A10 finals for our rematch against Rhode Island, but I certainly can't question my team's effort tonight. They battled hard, and I knew we were in trouble coming into this hostile arena where we have never had any success. Their crowd did a good job keeping us disoriented (not a very useful drop) but I thought we did do a good job early on. The inability to get any bench production (no spoils) was not very helpful but I thought we had a decent chance for a while. The turning point was when I took a gamble and told the boys to try to speed up the pace a bit to boost our transition game (counter back and take a loosely defended castle) but Umasses defense held and they were able to use their nifty zone press the rest of the way to finish us off.

We'll just have to regroup and get ready for the Big Dance in the next couple of weeks. I wish Coach Tsioumiou and his squad the best of luck the rest of the way, I'm sure they'll give either Charollote or Rhode Island fits in the finals. In the meantime I'm going to prepare a prospectus for the selection committee as to why Vermont should make the big dance this year..."

Buffalo beats East. Michigan to advance past the opening rd. of the MAC/Conference USA Tournament. It is quite a shocker considering Buffalo's struggles in conference play during the regular season. Buffalo hopes to continue this winning streak against Miami,Ohio.
