Personally I'd like to see the Foundry further sub-divided into a couple more sub-groups, like a Map Disscusion thread for maps like the Napoleonic Wars map and another for maps that are getting a lot of feedback. I think another good idea is a Cartography sub-forum for people to post ideas, questions, advice, etc...
I generally agree though that a image should be posted with the idea. But I think there should also be an area for plain text ideas... Age of Merchants started this way... and it's in the Forge.

yes more subforums are indeed needed.
like:
ideas
forged
quenched
graphics corner
gameplay debates
PS: indeed AoM started as a plain text thread because the idea was new and i did not want to waste time creating an image. i needed to get some positive feedback first.

The forums are fine how they are. Any more is just getting stupid.

you have to add more countries, think about making the way gate and surrounding grove a country, and maybe splitting the tower up more into more countries such as one for each Ajah, and maybe make the training grounds for the warders a country also, and split up the islandic town some more so that then it is not so large

There won't be any more sub-forums, well not anytime soon anyway. The new sub-forums cover all areas and in time either me or Andy will post an announcement for the Map Ideas sub-forum with guidelines about how to put your ideas forward, similar to the How the Make A Map thread in the general Map Foundry forum.
Basically the Map Ideas sub-forum will be a place to put forward your idea. From here it will be moved into the general Map Foundry forum when Andy and I have approved a map for development. Any other ideas can go into a new Map Ideas thread that I will be responsible for keeping up to date. Just give it time, both Andy and myself have lives outside of Conquer Club.
The Final Forge sub-forum is where all maps in Final Forge or that have been Quenched will be held. This includes those maps put up for live play before the Quenching system was in place.
The main Map Foundry forum is the place to discuss all maps that have been approved from the Map Ideas sub-forum. It's also the place to discuss any general foundry business, such as graphics or gameplay issues/questions.

i was actually thinking it would be nice to have a subforum where graphic issues are discussed how to do this and that with mini tutorials, sharing brushes and secrets, etc.
also a subforum for gameplay would be nice. a place t debate impassable borders and bottlenecks.
i think in the curent format is almost impossible to have a decent discussion because the thread would be lost among lots of other threads.
PS: one thing i don't understand. you said:

do you mean that in the future a map maker won't be able to develop his own creation if you or andy don't approve? seeing how andy usually does not like any map in the early stage i don't think this is such a god idea

Sounds great. Is that something you are working on. That would be great. I am anxious for the D-Day map.

When Keyogi says we will approve, all he is saying that the Map Ideas Sub-Forum will be where maps get the start on development. To move into general Foundry Discussion, there needs be some sort of plan, and a working image (other than MS Paint or pencil/paper). Once we see those, we'll move it into 'production', essentially. This is to keep the threads where people are just posting ideas, and no actual development, out of the main discussion.
Or something like that. Expect an
Announcement within the next few days/week, once we've got some more time.

This could be an amazing map with loads of really cool new features. It could be really big as well. Start on it if you can and then we'll be able to see if it can go any further. Has potential.
Btw, don't go so overboard on the polls - all you need is "YES", "NO", and "GFY"

yes i will post it next week. it is a different style of play than usual so they may be room for two prison maps... or maybe a prison map and an Alcatraz map.

gimil wrote:can we have a rule that u need to post an image of an idea or the thread gets locked. im sick of people putting up a title then sayin:
"is this a good idea"
got an idea? no image? put it in teh ideas thread
Then what's the point of the map ideas forum... it's better that the users state their idea and get support before working on it... and some people don't want to sift through pages and pages of a thread for map ideas

this is the real map for the Wheel of Time
its extensive and complicated and would take a lot of work to make a good map about.
How to Battle

Okay so I had an idea. In a greek phalanx, the idea is that the only flank is the front. If it is broken, the entire formation is shattered. So the idea here (obviously horribly demonstrated)is to have a consistent formation, making use of the surrounding terrain to have the fewest possible borders. I was thinking about the following things:
-Having a maximum number of troops per territory (using the new XML)
-Always having a bonus of 3 per turn regardless of how many territory the player owns.
-What should the surrounding terrain be?
