how about you still keep 5 min per turn but you only get 1 or 2 min to start your turn. This way players have to start their turn quickly so no waiting around while nothing happens, but players can still take 5 min for the more demanding turns.

that why you get three option before join a game-if you want to play fast you will join 1 minute option-but if you play slow-you will play 5 minute option. Why will someone who play slow, join a games with 1 minute speed settings?
I hope that these will implemented soon.

chose the time of how long it takes to do your round

you could chose the lenght of time for how long you want each round until missed (5mins to 48hours) :D

because 24 hours is to long for some and 5 mins is to short for some so I say have a choice

5 minutes won't happen. Those are called speed games, and are only accessible to Premium players

FREESTYLE should be 1 minute interval option

Freestyle turn limits: 60 seconds

Freestyle games are a wait-fest as it stands. 90% of the action takes place in the final 10-30 seconds. That's ~ 4.5 minutes of people WAITING for others to change up.

Overal benefit = SPEED freestyle games. None of this 'waiting'. Which, many on this site consider to also be known as "strategy".

I like this because it adds a completely new dynamic to the game. People have to compensate somehow for missing time. Probably will bring out sides of players we haven't seen.

More Turn Interval Duration Options

MORE TURN INTERVAL DURATION OPTIONS

Any chance we could add some more options for turn interval durations? Sometimes, 24 hours is just to long, and I seldom have the time to dedicate to staying in front of a computer to follow speed rounds. It would be great if we could pick between 24 hours, 4 hours, 2 hours, 1 hour and 5 minutes. It would certainly help break up the day!! :)

These options aren't practical, and have been rejected before.

Moved to Archives.

Refurbish Speed and increase website revenue

Posted: Wed Apr 27, 2011 3:11 pm
by army of nobunaga
Concise description:
Once upon a time Speed games were very popular. Everyone was playing speed games. Speed games were fun. Speed games were the reason most of us got addicted to CC in the first place. Now slowly I see CC market share for Risk like games dropping. I would highly recommend refurbishing and tweeking speed games to reinvigorate the game play spirit around here. Every suggestion I make gets ignored. But I know how to make money, I have done it too many times. Ill try this once again, to help. Thank for reading.

Specifics/Details:
The following are three simple tweeks that I believe will increase speed games daily by more than 300-400%
  • Decrease speed game time for turns- We no longer have time to play speed games in our lunch hour, some of them take over an hour to complete.
  • Speed only maps
  • A daily medal given for the person that achieves the high score of the day in speed games

Hey lack, put the speed back into speed games and we will be playing them a LOT more. In a speed game with 6 players, It almost always takes over an hour to finish. We have wives, babies, books, nooks, hobbies, and porn we need to be doing in real life. Make a "speed" game something that we can finish with speed and we will play them.

Have a contest for the mapmakers, See what the talented people that have helped generate revenue for the site here can do for you in speed. If there were speed only maps it would tempt people to upgrade and try them.

Many explorer games have the "High person of the day" medal... It is a HUGE success and it is like spiking the mice water in the cage with a drug, talk about addiction. People will play speed games ALL day to claw for these medals.

Remember, an upgrade is what 35$ a year?! .. 90% of the people here can afford that (that is four six packs, a half a tank of gas, or 8 rented movies at blockbuster) , so why are they ALL not upgraded? BEcause there really isnt much of an incentive to be upgraded. I upgraded many people a year here... And even I have decided to start putting my gaming money in other places and not even upgrade myself when it runs out here.

Gl and I hope this is at least read.

I feel a bit mixed about this idea. I must admit I also feel like speed games consuming to much of my time. (not all of them). But on the other hand.

Decreasing time for speed games would only result in more rounds. What do you mean with speed only maps? Maps like Doodle, in onther words, small straight forward maps? They are no gaurantee for quicker games. It depends on the players how quick a game goes. How would you hand out a daily map. I am in an different timezone then you.

This iea has popential it just needs work.
