No. "Of course its possible, but its impossble to prove, so it doesnt make sense to believe" is the only sensible answer ie, AGNOSTICISM. Atheism is as equally as absurd as theism.

I forget who it was, some guy from the Enlightenment or Industrial Revolution. I think it may have been Descartes... Anyways, he had his theory of probability, which said that its better to believe in God then not. Because if God doesn't exist, nothing is affected by believing in one. But if you don't believe, and there is a God, then you're screwed.

That has no personal opinion in it, just what I learned in history a while back.

Pascal, and Pascal's Wager. There are sevral flaws in the argument, but the most damning is that its based on a false dichotomy, ie believe in God or not.
But what if you believe in God, and it turns out that Allah exists? Or Zeus?
Worshipping a false God is even worse than not believing in hell.
A probability table along these lines clearly shows it is a safer bet not to belive at all.
Note, i'm not saying this "proves" God doesnt exist, it merely shows Pascal's Wager is a flawed.

Yeah, I never thought of his wager as anything real or something that I would believe, but it is pretty interesting.

Yeah its a cool argument. I have to admit i was disappointed whilst reading a logic book (GEEK ALERT-maxed out) that it doesnt quite work.
But its a good party trick!

What I honestly would think is "at least I tried." I would live my days thinking that I gave my best effort at what I thought was right and stood by it. At least I believed in something and attempted to help myself in the afterlife.
