Actually friend, you're ignorant of what actually happened in 2008 when it looked like Obama was going to be elected. Gun and ammunition sales went through the roof. There were actually ammo shortages. I know in my area (northern metro Detroit) stores had imposed limits to how much you could purchase that were only just lifted in the past few months. This was driven by fears that Obama would move to restrict gun and ammunition sales; those fears were based on his record earlier in his political career. Those are facts. So, yes, Obama really WAS the best salesman the NRA could have hoped for.
