Ok, first off I was just making a point. You also have to remember that "Experienced players vs newer players would be a no contest". Second, I never bumped this thread, there was a post made yesterday before mine. I'm not opposing this suggestion just trying to make sure all points are covered.
Cheers, JB

Lack has liked the idea of additional variance in turn limits possibly in the future. We'll see what happens.

You have a valid point but wouldn't it be possible for 2 1/2 minute speed games to be available after a player has played say, 20 speed games. And 1 minute after 40 speed games. Also, I think it would be cool to name them this way:
Casual (24 hours)
Speed (5 minutes)
Express (2.5 minutes)
Insane (1 minute)

Then you mods need to work your job,and every new sugestion who have speed sugestion to merge in one topic.
Also will be great from Lack to come and say "these sugestion its acepted, but i still dont have time to implemented, please focus one 1 topic related to speed sugestion, and no need to open zilion similar topics"

Also, remember that [player]Newtonboy[/player] has been appointed as a Web Developer. Once he gets on the ground running, more and more Suggestions will be implemented.

I realy would like 1 minute game for almost all maps, with clickies you can attack on big maps also more then 30 territs and mostly thats enough

fumandomuerte wrote:This could not be an option for big maps. Without clickable maps you cannot do too many moves in 2-3 minutes (take 40 territories for example).
But, again, it's another option to play so welcome if Lack makes it possible

I agree with this, ive played many speed games, of all map sizes, and ive ran out of time just with 5 minutes.
But with smaller maps it would be a good idea.

Because people didn't know what this thread was suggesting. Now that it is correct, it is obviously pulling in more traffic.

this is a great idea, And I would play speed games again if this started... I think ppl quit playing speeders because sometimes they can take 1 hr for 8 man esc. :-S
this could be a revenue generator too if ppl started playing speeders again.

I don't like the idea of an option that requires a third-party script to play. Other than a couple maps, 1-minute games can't be done w/o clickies.
I know, I know..."I don't have to play it". But it seems like another way for people to farm points by mastering a routine instead of a strategy (e.g. freestyle).

its not our fault (speed players) that clickable maps isn't a site feature. maybe now with the new web developer it might get done

I never said it was anyone's fault. Just pointing out that 1-minute games would require an extra download, which I'd guess a large percentage, if not a majority of players wouldn't know about.

true but that's why its an option for people that do want to play 1 min games. Also whats wrong with mastering a map? i see nothing wrong in specializing.

I think the Database, service and architecture of the site needs an overhaul. Hosts should be able to specify the length of the rounds!
This should be modularized properly and stored as seconds in the DB.
Queries should use ranges to determine what round length you're looking for. Default options should be the current 5 and 60 min. Turn length and maximum time to begin turn should be specifiable.
The system should do a lot more

We need some serious requirements engineering in here. If anyone from mods wants to talk to me, I can potentially get a team of 3-4 developers to help work on this and via a program at the university I study at, next year they could be working on this for free. It does take some paper work to make it happen though, so whomsever is in charge should let me know
