Will CC be around for the 100 year anny of WWII?
Should we have something kick?

Maybe we could wait 8 years and then it can be the 90th anny of the years of Japanese aggression.

But we shouldn't forget the Italian conquest of Ethiopia.

What to do, what to do...

Going forward, we will give 1 Green and 1 Blue every quarter.

The Quarterly Green: Will be given to the player at the top of the scoreboard at the end of each quarter. However, the same player can only get it once per year. Thus, if the player on the top of the scoreboard already got one within the last four quarters, it will go to the 2nd place player. If that player already got one in the last four quarters, it will go to the third place player and so on.

The Quarterly Blue: Will be a "most-improved" star. We'll need a snapshot of the scoreboard at the end of each quarter. The player who moves up the most spaces on the scoreboard will win the Blue. If multiple players all jumped the same number of spaces, the one who began at the highest point in the previous quarter will get the star.

Both the Quarterly Green and the Quarterly Blue will come with a GA medal to commemorate the triumph.

I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, and I know some time ago someone already asked about these prizes specifically. But I feel like after 4+ years of the great war tourneys, and 100's if not 1000's of games played I still find it's a little disappointing this ended with such a whimper. No 'Meta' prizes for the event scoreboard were ever issued (not saying any were promised, but several times it was hinted something was coming), and now the event is gone and mostly forgotten so there isn't even anything to brag about anymore. Somehow I just expected more prizes or some kind of medal or something, I can't imagine doing it again (or an event like it) knowing how this ended.

I don't want to undermine how much work Duku and others put into it. It was clearly a huge undertaking, and he did amazing. But the fizzle ending somewhat disrespects how much work Duk put into it along the way

I agree with Mookie, I loved playing the tournament and never expected a medal as I'm not good enough. But it ended with a wimper and I've tried to find out who finished in the top 10 and I can't find the scoreboard any longer. I was ready to quit in 2017 but kept playing to finish out this tournament only to end the way it did takes out what was left of me to keep playing.

Totally agree with mookie. Huge job has been done to put this great tourney on place and to try to maintain motivation for players, and this by duke specially and others big contributors. I though it must have been finished in another way, as everyone, but the actual end, neglecting, is for me like a lack of respect for all who worked and thoses who played this huge tourney.

I haven't given up. I just needed to step back and recharge my batteries. I can't explain just how much this took out of me. I intend to finish it, but for a time I couldn't even look at it.

As I starting point, I have this Wikipedia link very useful to have an idea where we stand with this event

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_World_War_I

I will read through it and try to link all the tournaments that has been completed, then we should be able to get the heads back in and following this timeline will help us identifying the event we want to capture to continue this Great War stuff and bring it to the end everyone wants to see.

Thanks for understanding 8-)

Most of the work of linking all the tournaments has already been done:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13hp18u3nJb6WXDpsb8oVxktCoWwS0ow9fCK5jszWOpI/edit?usp=sharing

Only the last few months weren't updated. I thought jytreberg was going to take this over but he seems to have gotten busy with other things. There are only a few tournaments for which the start dates weren't entered, but there are a lot more for which the end dates weren't entered.

Hi all GW members, I'm now getting a list of remaining tournaments, I would like to get a pace of 2-3 tournament launch per month, and making a goal to end this event November 2020 (2 years behind the original schedule but keeping the month of the Armistice as a cutoff).

I'm looking to gather writers to help compiling story for each upcoming battle/episodes remaining of this WWI event, I'm ready to create as much tournament needed, my writing skills aren't that great other than copy/paste from Wikipedia, so having couple of nice members who wants to get this back moving forward would be helpful, I have also launched an internal call with members who actively participated so far but I feel few more would help...

Send me PM if you are interested, and thanks all of you for being patient, this should go back live very soon 8-)

LET'S DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I noticed the scoreboard looks different... mikerrr moved into 6th place just because of how many cannon tokens he collected haha!

Frankly I'd forgot about it until you brought it up Ukey, but a year seems like enough time gone by to ask for an update.
