Great update, but i dont love the way the impassables look, and i really liked the other map you had with the three main bonuses split into smaller sub-bonuses. That looked a lot more fun IMO.

Bump...
No more comments? Isn't this an advanced idea.

Welp, my comment is once you have the graphics wrapped up, and maybe do something with the impassables, then this map is done. It's a frickin' sweet map too, so I'd bet that's why there are so few comments.

I would be more than happy to play this map right now, it's awesome. Other than a few minor touch up's here and there with the graphics (for example the Kaliningrad text bugs me) I don't know what else to comment on...

Yea, just fix the impassables and the graphics will be perfect.
The thing I think you need to work on is the bonuses. Many of them are less or greater than they should be. For example, Veroezh and Byelorussia should have higher bonuses. Volgorad should be a +2 and Latvia could debated to +3

So I zoomed in enough to include Western Europe, and at least half of Russia.

I may be crazy, but I don't see western europe in your map.

Opps - I mean Eastern Europe.

I should have probably given this a day or two ago, but here it is:

This map looks pretty awesome. Good luck with it.
Now we just wait for one of the CAs to move this thread to the main foundry.

Perhaps Sam.
I haven't had much time recently -
I'm torn between... xml for Charleston, redoing the borders again for Brazil, or updating this map. I might bring my laptop to bed with me tonight and work on one of these.

Might as well wait for Charleston to reach FF for the xml... probably won't see live play soon anyway.

The only thing RJ that is bothering me on this is the mesh fench you have used. It just doesn't please my athetical eye.

How's this for the impassables? I gave it a lot of thought and placed them where I think make the most sense. Still a lot of open borders, but there's no impassables in World 2.1, and thats still a popular map.

I also added Moldavia (kind of a part of Ukraine). I'm not sure what to do about this. It needs to be there, but it's so damn small. I might exclude it on the legend, and give it a 0 bonus.

I also touched up the colors again, and some border areas, and lighting effects. Is the font still legible?

(EDIT)
O yeah, adding Modavia gives me 97 territs now. I really wanted only 96 as that's a great whole number for the game (48x2). Can anyone see an area I could get rid of, or combine into another region? Or maybe I'll just keep it at 97 - not really a big deal with this many territs if 1 is neutral.

Do you know what's confusing me at the mo about this map...

What is it?

It's half or europe - half of russia - half of something else...

Don't get me wrong - the GFX are awesome - and I love the huge map thing...

But I'm struggling to understand the theme properly!?

It's Eastern Europe and Western Russia, and it's the communist countries prior to the fall of the communism.

Yeah I read that... still left me with the feeling that it's not a map of anywhere specific...

How's that for specific.

Do you have any suggestions?
My plan was to still title it the iron curtain.

Maybe the title will make it more clear?
Maybe I could make Russia all close shades of red? I prefer the colors all neutral earthy tones, and sporadic.

Ha ha - I like what you did there (Although you're a few pixels out :P :P )

So - what IS that region?

You map proves it even more - it just seems to be a random snapshot of a random set of countries... Tell me more - Build some story... what is the Iron Curtain? Is all of this map behind said curtain? - what about the other bits that are missing?

Do you see what I'm driving at?

Seems clear to me.... the areas under Soviet control during the Cold War... these areas, while not being part of Russia proper, were forced into the Soviet Union, and were said to fall under the Iron Curtain of communism.
Title sounds perfect to me... I also love the graphics.

I was actually partial to the fence.... if people don't like it, i'd like to see some other graphic representing the iron curtain... something harsh like that fence fits well. I'll try to think of suggestions in the meantime.

The problem is - that it's not ALL of those areas... There's half of russia in there - and some areas the other side of Russia that are missing...
