I recall there only being one way to destroy the Ring.
However, Gandalf and Elrond did discuss throwing the Ring into the ocean.
you're right about them throwing it in the ocean- that idea was discarded though, since he ring was able to be found in the bottom of a river by a bumbling hobbit, what kept it from being found in the ocean?
there
was another way to destroy the ring. however, now i'm not sure if it's ever mentioned in the movies or not. because of my possible mistake, i'll give you a hint: this second method to destroy the ring was no longer a viable option at the time of the War of the Ring because of a major event that occurs in The Hobbit

Oh right! Dragon's fire could destroy it, right?
Although I think that may have been ruled out because dragon's fire could only destroy one of the Three Rings, not the One. Not sure about that, though.

That was mentioned in the first book. The fire of this one very powerful dragon that lived 1000 years ago (I forget the name) could destroy some of the rings of power, possibly one of the three, but NOT the one ring. There was only one way to destroy that.

well that's what i get for asking a question without doing my research. you're right, the one couldn't be destroyed by dragonfire, though the others could be. my bad, someone take it from here lol

Go Ink. I love sabotaging the movie trivia. That was mentioned in the movie in passing, so it's legit, but nobody would've got it unless they'd read the book.

How does Sauron initially discover that the Ring has been found?

Gollom goes to Mordor and is captured and tells Sauron about the ring and the Shire and Bilbo.

Who is Gimli's father, and how is he involved in the story (other than being Gimli's father)?

Gimli's father is Gloin, one of Bilbo's companions in the Hobbit.

Correct. I was also looking for something about how he came to Rivindell with Gloin because of a messenger from Mordor that had come to Dale, and how he'd been involved in the new Moria colony, but I'll let you have it.

I'm pretty sure it's mentioned in the movie. You just have to pay attention.

It was mentioned, if you listened really, really closely. I love sabatoging the movie trivia. I haven't broken any rules, though.

What was one of the techniques the film makers used to make the hobbits seem shorter than the others?
