hmm i will try that sometime

good job!
i agree with ya tehre

5 min job - just because Zeak wanted them
lord voldemort wrote:and i also think that this map is too small...
actually i think its 630px X 500px - height by width - which is too big for a small map
lord voldemort wrote:and the rgaphical line for mountains could be a lil better to actually represent mountians...
yea workin on that
lord voldemort wrote:the trees look cool

thanks lol
lord voldemort wrote:your bonus's are off....they are too many or not enough for the number of borders to defend....so id go by that
yea we'll work something out

i think that 5C1 is just the best - it looks the best

jako wrote:u could try taking a look at the mountains on the WWII western front map or france map. both are different styles that could give u a good idea for mountains.
ill look into other maps' mountains and look at their mountains - and perhaps hold a poll for the mountain style?
jako wrote:dont know how ur going to fix those forests, but they still need work.
yea - i willl try some blurs and maybe stretch them a lil bit (upward)
jako wrote:Antsiranana - 2 terts + 2 attacking points = 2.
Mahajanga - 4 terts + 3 attacking points = 3
Toamasina - 3 terts + 3 attacking points = 3
Antananarivo - 4 terts + 3 attacking points = 3
Fianarantsoa - 5 terts + 4 attacking points = 4
Toliara - 4 terts + 4 attacking points = 4
i dont know if its thats straight forward - just doing the amount of defending terits - like what if you were holding the equivilant of asia with only one terit - it wouldnt just be a bonus og 1 or 2 - coz u got some more terits within - but i see your point
i will do some thinking

bonuses are a little off as lovo said. this i what i think they could be:
Antsiranana - 2 terts + 2 attacking points = 2.
Mahajanga - 4 terts + 3 attacking points = 3
Toamasina - 3 terts + 3 attacking points = 3
Antananarivo - 4 terts + 3 attacking points = 3
Fianarantsoa - 5 terts + 4 attacking points = 4
Toliara - 4 terts + 4 attacking points = 4
and congratz on the adv idea.
thanks

ok here we go, version 6
---
Version 6:
[bigimg]http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll234/t--o--m/madagascarversion6.jpg[/bigimg]
ive updated the mountains - not that they look any better lol (well maybe a lil bit), i changed the bevels on them and smudged them so they look rougher
trees un-altered
bonuses un-altered - i think theyre ok for now (thats probably a bad sign if i think theyre ok) - just that jako your method, well i dont think its quite right. you said that the pink/red cont had 3atacking terits so should have a 3 bonus - but its got 4 terits, and 5 terits availible to break the bonus - so 3 is too low i think.
i also altered the title background - which that doesnt really look much better either,
if anyone wants to see this with the 88's on - just say because its only a click of a button (litterally!)
anyway watcha think of this one??
p.s. yes i am aware that the mountains are all kinda different!
EDIT:
oh yea i forgot, i used a faded gradient to blend the pic - hopefully it works

Maybe a different color font for each continent to help differentiate?

The black borders between continents look stronger in some places than in others. Compare the border between Sofia and Diana to the one between Anosy and Atsimo-Atsinanana. I think the darker ones look better, personally.
The new mountains are better, but still a bit too thin for my liking. Could you make them a bit thicker? Also, your source of light for the image seems to change as you move down the mountain chain. For example, between Analanjirofo and Sofia, you have illumination on the northwest and east sides of the mountain. Pick an angle and stick to it. I suggest the top right corner of the map for the light source.

yea - for some reason i have 2 layers of conts - (when i was making it i probably wanted to make it look darker and harder at the sides) - and they both have different ocpacities, but its just a duplicated layer so i dont know why some have turned out diferent to others, - i will look into it

ill try make 'em thicker

yea - i am trying to make the mountains on the top-rightish more like the others (which you cant see the light source so well) but i used different light sources to get the same effect on the other mountains

version 6A is coming out in like 5mins
EDIT:

Zeak i think the mountains are too big on this one, and you wouldnt beleive it but i turned the pixel number down 5px's on this update lol
(but changed it to "Emboss" rather than the outer bevel)
