Is having two classic maps an option that is being discussed? the new classic and the original(which is the one i prefer) I think that is the only real way that everyone is going to be happy, if you give people the option to play either one they want then in my opinion that will solve this problem, i wish the map had never been changed at all but i appreciate that CC is always trying to improve itself

Too many options, haha. If one of these doesnt get 50% to win, you should rerun the poll of the top three.

black 50%. white is too glaringly obvious; black fits in better with the map.
EDIT: strange, I don't seem to be able to vote. I click, "submit vote", it says "your vote has been counted," but then when I return to the thread... huh.

I'm all for the White 30% map.

It was definitely a question of brightness. The white shadow is clearly better than the black shadow when it comes to the darker colored armies, but the 60%, in my opinion, only made for a different set of problems, specifically the color contrast with the lighter colored armies this time ;)

And kudos, lackattack, for all the hard work - you must know its appreciated ;) Cause even if there are complaints about a change, at least you know that we care and that changes are noticed and apprasied :D

And there are my humble two cents ;)

I don't know why so many people play this anyways. I think it's played out. As for the shadows......I'd rather look at the terrain.

Know my vote? My vote is to get rid of that annoying box at the top of my games, because I already know about it, don't care either way, and that huge announcement box takes up like half the page, forcing me to scroll to see the status of all my games.

SkyCaptain wrote:I voted for white 30% because it looks the best, in my opinion. However, in the interest of fairness, there should be a runoff of the top two choices when this poll closes. Otherwise, we could have white 30% (which is winning as of this post) win, when in fact a black one would win if its votes weren't split among all the blacks. Yes, i know, the whites are split as well, but who knows?

I second this. Can I second it? Are we seconding?

Hey .. that's the map of my game. I'm cyan . . .

I find it Ironic that White 60 (new classic) is beating Black 60 (old classic)...

Therefore any and all posts I made about the people who hated the new map being in the minority - were all fully justified... I will accept apologies now.

I'm gonna have to choose White 40% over the others--White 30% if not that. I picked 40 over 30 because there were a couple of places where it was easier to read. I chose white over black because I've in the past had occasions where it was hard to read how many armies blue had in a certain territory (usually in Europe or Madagascar). I agree that black looks better, but white is more effective.

As many have mentioned, thanks to the powers-that-be for admitting you should've publicized this development more ahead of time, and then thanks for giving a us a say in how to progress. I'm glad you kept your cool and then maturely and calmly bringing this up for all of us.

Just my thoughts,
Poocho :)

 you could only infer that if those were the only two choices.

No shadows is by far the best option. All others partially obscure the number and distract from the over-all look of the map.

I'd say white 30% - keeps everything neat...
And i'll put 50$ on pink winning the game :-)

I would just like to have the old one back.

The one that made CC and the game itself big..........

There are a zillion maps on this site who people don't play coz of many reasons. Classic is THE risk map! Why change it.

The chicken with the golden egg........

Apparently it's a lot more than 10, because the old Classic was black 60%

Thats because there are so many options, people don't know.
I voted no shadows......

Anyway Why can't there be 2 maps?

1- the old version. (black 60 apparently??)
2- A nice dotty white one..

White 30 percent does make it clearer and doesn't take away from the map much. Any more than 30 percent hurts the map. I would of voted black 30 percent but it doesn't help make numbers more visible you might as well not have a shadow.
So I voted 30 percent white but second vote would of been no shadow.

I'll vote for white 40%. It gives a good contrast to the darker outlines of the numbers.
Good work! =D>

Ruben Cassar wrote:Is a small version of the maps available by any chance?

On a small map the army shadows are more cluttered and that might be a factor worth considering as well when deciding what are the right army shadow.

Quoting myself from page 2 here since no one must have seen this comment.

I believe that using a big version of the map will make everything seem much easier to read. However most people play on the small version to avoid scrolling down.

When using a small version the army shadows are more cluttered so people might have a problem reading the map again. So what might be good for the big version of the map might not be good for the small version which is the one most people use anyway.

Therefore we need a small version of the map as well to be able to vote properly. Most people will not realise this now...but they will realise this later when they are playing.

Also what about neutrals? Will they show up properly using white?
