Well stated Fitz. As it is, it has taken me almost a year to attain my current score of 2250 and my high 2 weeks ago at 2450. If my score were reset, I would be more inclined to leave than stay. Keeping things as is and adding additional components if necessary is the key.

if the idea gets implemented there will be 2 scoreboards. i for the current era and 1 for all time.
so you have 2450 and tomorow the scores are reset. your current score will drop to 1000 and the high score will still remain. and if possible the all time highscore can be dynamic meaning that after each game 2 scores are calculated. 1 for current and one for the all time.

what dim just said is what i meant

you play and get to whatever score and then it gets reset

you then win a game and the log would say you gained 20 points (1v1 same amount of points)

but in the background your all time score (all loses and wins together) does a different thing and you might only get 12 points for it.

you gained different amounts for different scores, one score gets reset every so often and the other one never does

there would be two different score boards, one for all time and one for the current era. so there would be two conquerers, one who worked for it for a long time (the all time) and one who got there the short way lol. also because some ranks would be ABSOLUTELY impossible to reach on a time limit (field marshall, even brigadier, definately general, maybe even colonel) the requirements would likely need to be lowered FOR THE ERA SCOREBOARD ONLY

this way the people who play for all time scores can do so and ignore the resets since it doesnt affect them if they dont want it to and the people who want a reset every so often get it. and then the people who want both (like me) since no matter what my score is ill play the same, to win, and it wouldnt affect my gameplay at all. would be nice to see what would happen though!

The only problem I see with two different scoreboards is that the point mongers will still only play each other, since losing would still cost them lots of "all time" points

surely it would be better to reset your score but keep your rank

the point mongers who care about all time only will likely do that yes, but those who want the reset for a fresh start would likely be more inclined to do more public games, at least until they rank high again lol

I disagree totally with reseting the score, nothing against a new player coming in, but why let him or her start even with me or any ranked player? I started in virtually last place when i signed on? Looked at the score board and said to my self , I want to get to the first page, then to the top. Been 10th and may never get to the top.....but still my goal. If i lose down to 1000 points my bad.... they get reset to 1000 points i've paid my last $25.00

Also with two scoreboards it would kill your all time points playing a johnnyrocket with 1000 points, anybody like this guy with that low of a score would be killer to the all time score, all they would have to do is wait 3 weeks after the reset and start 30 games and be at the top in a 2 weeks!
Wait...maybe that is a good idea, Jr send me a pm if they do this and we will make a run! lol
Leave all the hard earned points alone......most people that want this here are people that cant get ahead any other way.

One idea i have seen that would be ok is a separate scoreboard for singles games. Standard games only separate, Not affecting the overall score at all. Not even figured into it. Lots of people cant play well in team games and that would give them a shot at a trophy score to work towards?

I prefer [edited; or propose] to have 2 concurrent Scoreboards. :D

1. Permanent [edited; or Lifetime] Scoreboard which is what we have now.
2. Periodical Scoreboard which could be reset in every 6 months or 1 year intervals.

else I would feel that I've wasted my time that I've spent in CC. I'm such a demanding guy.

While we are at discussing our wimps and fancies, in addition to those 2 Scoreboards ...I would like to request for the Singles, Doubles and Triples Scoreboards which should track the Periodical Scoreboard.

Furthermore, I recommend that the Periodical, Singles, Doubles and Triples Scoreboards be archived (applies only when the current points of any four Scoreboards is/are greater than its counterpart(s) from the All-Time Scoreboards) to the All-Time Periodical, All-time Singles, All-Time Doubles and All-Time Triples Scoreboards specifying the year whichever update(s) occurred. 8)

Note: I've said my peace, there [edited; is definitely] something for everyone to aim, shoot and claim. :)

nor really. you'd be surprised to see how many high ranked players want this.
not everybody is here for the score, we want the challenge the rush of a reset the race to the finish line, the chance to experiment without fear of losing out all time high score.

it pretty clear to me that if tomorrow points were completely removed from this game and no rank were kept you'd be the first to quit. it seems you play for points not for fun.

don't you ever want to play a good old 6p standard game? you never played one not a single one. that's amazing. or a 5p standard public game. you've had just 2 (yes only 2) 5p standard games and those were private.

aren't you tired of triples and doubles? aren't you bored with the same partners or the same settings that you play all the time? you play almost exclusively trips seq no cards chained.
how about something "crazy" a 6p assassin escalating unlimited with fog?
will you ever do that? my guess is you won't because it will hurt your precious points.

and for what? you're just 60 points ahead of me on the scoreboard. i don't doubt you were higher perhaps much higher than i'll ever be. but while you played just trips and doubs with the same partners and same settings over and over again, i have played all kinds of games with all kinds of settings. to be honest i'd rather have 1500 points and know i've played everything and faced all kinds of opponents than to have 3000 points and not be able to remember my last 6p standard game because it never existed.

DiM does make a good point...im a lil split on this whole thing..i skimmed a bit and saw the idea of 2 scoreboards...one that has a lifetime points and 1 that is pereoditic (*im aware i cant spell*)

hm...Dim I think the main problem with this idea is that it'll HAVE to apply to EVERYONE, and that many people don't want to give up their points. A solution to this can be OPTIONAL reset of points evey 6 months. That way those who want to reset their points can, and even better, this can reduce multis for those who give up their accoutns because their old accoutns are so horrible/too high rank.

the main point i'm getting to is that this will give some players whose scores are so horrible and beyond recover, such as one of my friends, that they'll have a chance once in a while to redeem their score. And for those who have a good score, they can keep it. just like the pardoning system :D

ok here goes Dim... you sent me a Pm asking me these questions..NO 1 through 6

1. are points that important to you? are they more important then the pleasure of simple risk?

You get your pleasure one way me in another,Points yes are important, that is fun for me. Simple risk is the pleasure of gaining points and trying to be the best, best ever! Passing the freakish high score that Blitz posted up a while back. So yes points are important, one part of the game i enjoy, my decision to do so.

2. would you really stop playing if the scores were reset? (not buying premium=stop playing cause 4 games at once don't count). why would you stop playing? the game would still be the same.

Yea same game...not my desire? Simple enough In all things in real life that i competed in, from competitive weight lifting to Running National Motocross i shrived for one thing...to be No 1. I set state and National records in weight lifting and still hold some now, I would not want those reset? Same here, take my accomplishments away and why do it?

3. don't you wonder from time to time how would a certain map feel like and join a map you never played before in a speed game with cooks privates and sergeants?

I never have played a speed game because most of the time i play at work, except on the weekends. I play sparingly at home because i have 5 kids and a wife that i try to spend all the time i can with. Another reason for not joining with cooks or privates or any lower scored players is well known....3 cooks 2 privates and 1 major...who do you think is going out first, really. Everybody attack the big rank, don't blame them i would do the same?

4. don't you ever get bored with playing the same settings same game type same partners?

I play what i enjoy, mostly no cards, for another reason, it takes more of the luck out of the game. Takes more strategy to play no cards. you don't have to worry about the other teams getting a set in three rounds and you r team taking 5 rounds to get one? Play a good team and this happen ..skill taken out luck wins the game for them...very simple

5. didn't you ever think "man i'm a great trips and doubs player would i be that great in singles" and then start 100 6p standard public games?

No not realy? I used to play standard, and terminator games when i started and got up to either 2000 or just under. So your statement is wrong where you said i only played 2? Over 70 if you will take the time to look? I Play team games because that is what i like? My right to play what i want, i enjoy playing with people working together and settng up a plan and seeing it work out. What i enjoy.

6. don't you ever wish to try something crazy? or are too afraid of losing valuable points?

Hmmm not sure what your asking here, played a couple of fog games ? That was crazy? even though i won one of them

Ok this is my generalized response:
You say dont i get tired of the same partners, once again you havent looked, i play with a lot of differant partners, some i play with alot, because i enjoy there style of play and company. Also played several differant maps. Not all of them but will in the futrue. You seem to enjoy standard games? Cool play um all you want, you stated in had played only 2...look to be sure before you post thing like this, i roughly counted over 70? Point is Dim one thing that makes this site fun, and enjoyable is because there are options! you can play just about any type of game that you can think of? Very few restrictions. What i don't understand is why you care what i play? I don't care what you play, your next door neighbor or anybody else? It take stratigy and thinking to win a no card triples game or a 6 player seq. game, why does it matter? Why dont you jump in some good old Trips, you may have already i havent looked? If not try it's a blast

Thanks for reading,

any official opinions on this???

i'd like to note that after the discussion the voting totally changed. if at the start of the thread people were 80% against the idea, after more talking and thinking and providing better ways the poll changed and the people that agree are wining.

I have to say no as it would take out all of the hard work done by some of the top players. For example i am sure poo-maker would not like to enforce this idea because it would take out all the hard work done by many players.

Gets a no from me sorry.

have you at least tried reading the thread before posting you don't like it?

if you have then how come you missed the part with dual scoreboards where you have an all time scoreboard and a current era scoreboard?

nobody will lose what they achieved.

go back and read the thread please.

i'd be ok with it. i find that i don't join games with a bulk of lower ranking players due to the significantly greater points i will lose in case of a loss. i would furthermore find the greater challenge to be attaining the pinnacle (or at least a high rank) time and time again.

This would be a great idea, but for one problem: already the top couple ranks are useless; if this is done, I'd expect to see a rank or two knocked off the top, and some more ranks added at the bottom, where most people are. (that's right, contrary to popular belief, I'm pretty sure most people's rank goes down with time. If someone has 3000 points, that's enough extra points to take two members down to 0, or four members to 500.)

Voted yes.

I think this idea would be great and give a sense of mixing things up, although I think the same players would emerge each time.

... and I even have experience of it: My first rest to about 1000 and I got to 2500+ some after, 2nd - down to cook and I got to nearer 3000, my 3rd reset has seen me closing in on 3500. I would love to see where I got to with a 4th one!!!!
