People are homeless for many different reasons... some of which I have sympathy for and some I don’t. I am fine with limited public assistance that offer people opportunities to get off the streets. I have no patience for people who abuse the system. I also fear that by offering assistance we encourage others to make bad decisions because they come to believe that Uncle Sam will ultimately take care of them.

There are certainly people who are homeless because of severe mental disorders... and there are some who’ve been born into bad situations and have had bad luck and no family support system to help them. That said, it’s my belief that many homeless people have found themselves on the street through a SERIES OF POOR / BAD DECISIONS OVER TIME.... not one bad decision, multiple bad decisions repeated over time.

... and by bad decisions I don’t mean things like stopping at McDonalds for dinner instead of waiting to eat something better at home. I mean taking drugs, skipping school, quitting a job without a plan, hanging out with people they know are bad influences, etc. Why should I have sympathy for people who’ve continued to make bad decision after bad decision?

I do not do drugs, own my own house , run my own business & pay my taxes.. 5 years ago I tried moving to Denver.. after it didn't work as planned, I had $20 in my pocket and my dad's pick-up truck's worth of possessions, no job, no way to pay my bills... I hit the bottom.. had nothing...
so I moved to a smaller city..
I got a 2 jobs that week 1 washing dishes for minimum wage, and 1 at a temp agency as a banquet server, pumped out 75 hours a week working both jobs & slept on a co-workers couch for 3 weeks.. by week 4 I had enough to get an apartment..
got an apartment.. I gave my new friend $500 at the end of the next month as payment for letting me crash on his couch..
the rest is history..
didn't waste my time in forums online crying , didn't spend my money on recreational drugs, & didn't suck the tax payer nipple

grow up.. it's what men do..

Glad you were able to bounce back. Some hit the ground harder than others. Not everybody bounces back, especially not without help.

Therapy and making the right decisions which is easier in my early 30's

I think I finally escaped the "water" of my depression being held from being kicked out of the military and not being able to run any more. I had to drop out of California's half marathon championship 2 months because I couldn't even walk through the pain any more

All the men on both sides of my family have as officers (intelligence, Navy pilot, special forces, military police, etc) my mom even started a national military support group

so let me get this straight.
WMW.. openly talks about how he was a drug addict doing every single drug you can name for the past 16 years.. and he is 32 now. ., drank like a fish for years starting when he was young up until 2 months ago.. & he did all this while he was in the Air Force --> as a EOD.. " Explosives Ordinance Disposal"...

this guy.. WMW.. put his fellow brothers in arms in the situation where he was strung out on drugs & drunk while being an EOD... { disgrace doesn't even describe this . .no wonder they kicked him out... and after him saying he has several Officers in his family. .no wonder they want nothing to do with him... at least his family respects the uniform... }

and then has the gall to spit on soldiers who come home with PTSD & high suicide rates...

I was kicked out before going to EOD school for having cocaine metabolites in my system when I pissed in bootcamp. I was brought into the commanding officers office where he said I popped hot for drugs when I denied ever taking them. I said o smoked weed and that then became my fraudulent enlistment which was a general discharge

The Air Force does not F around

I spent 6 weeks in Texas waiting to be flown back to CA with my tail between my legs

I entered bootcamp as an Airman first class (E3) because I was an E-6 as a US Naval sea cadet where I went to MAA school, search and rescue, Airman school, land nav school, POLA, etc

I was Sea Cadet of the Year for California and considered a blue Chip prospect as I passed all the real NAVY advancement tests (BMR all the way to PO1)
